Alves, maybe not a star, but has scored and assisted in the championship and in League 1. Plus he is our, if Monga stays I'd develop them both, but if he goes I'd be looking to develop Alves and bring another young winger. Not loan a player back who we have sold. At Cardiff he spent the majority of his time on the left or right, from the games I watch for both Cardiff and Huddersfield that where he been most effective. I lot will depend on who stays and who goes as to where he will get a opportunity. Edited 19 June by coolhandfox

HankMarvin Posted 19 June Posted 19 June Arsenal are set to submit a new bid for Jeremy Monga after Leicester Cityrebuffed their initial proposal for the 16-year-old gem. The Gunners are willing to push hard to sign the talented wide prospect, who featured 27 times in the Championship for the Foxes last season as they were relegated to League One in gut-wrenching fashion. Sources remain tight-lipped on the numbers behind Arsenal's opening offer but the direction of travel is that they will try again and that there's confidence the player wants to move to the Emirates Stadium - despite the efforts of other Premier League clubs including Newcastle and Brentford. While negotiations can take place now, any deal is likely to be shelved until after July 10, when Monga will turn 17 and his first professional contract at the King Power Stadium will become active. Leicester are in no hurry to sell given the raft of interest and will only do a deal once their financial valuation has been satisfied.
Popular Post honeybradger Posted 20 June Popular Post Posted 20 June The sad reality is that if Monga was on loan from Arsenal last season he would have gotten more game time and fans would have been more lenient on him when he wasnt impacting matches despite limited minutes. 5

Initially I thought I agreed with that, but we got a Chelsea lad, Richards, who barely got a sniff and we had Mukasa from Man City who after a bright start was getting maligned for not being good enough when he later didn't produce. So those 2 go some way to disproving it. Edited 20 June by JimJams 3

You also had fans using Mukasa's early form as a stick to beat our academy players with. Lots of "this is why we can't call our talents generational as this guy is so much better". Also it didn't make sense as generational is only used from a Leicester perspective, we don't produce talents like Monga often. Of course he's not a once in a life time player from a national perspective.

Crossing and getting into space isn't really our style or something our wingers are known for doing. I'm not sure the coaches have got to that page in the training guide yet. We have a more cultured style of a stand still, step over 5 times and pass backwards. 2

burleighfox Posted 22 June Posted 22 June Still needs time playing against and among more experienced players to reach his full potential; he won't get much better playing under 21 football for the next four years which seems to be the pattern when the bigger clubs comes sniffing after teenagers!
