Taken to a cell down near the away end if I remember, then let loose after the game with a court appearance looming. All depends of course because Showsec  do a lot of it now.

A clamp down was announced in 2022

"The Football Association will also implement tougher sanctions for clubs.

It is an offence for fans to enter the pitch "without lawful authority or lawful excuse" under the Football Offences Act 1991 - but offenders have not always been prosecuted.

However, prosecuting offenders will now be the "default response" under the new measures."

 

I know we've laughed at this lad and mainly at the slippy stewards, but their reaction didn't instil any confidence that they could deal with any level of antagonistic intruder.

Surprised he got as far as he did with the sheer amount of stewards the club decided to hire and position everywhere.  But as said above, hardly feels you with confidence they'd be able to deal with anyone who wanted to cause issue

Re the stewarding. Some years ago, when Aston Villa hammered us at home, a guy near me casually got up stepped over the barriers and advertising boards and wandered up to our goalie (Andrews?) No attempts were made by the stewards to stop/chase him.

There was a steward near by and I asked why so. He said they were told specifically not to chase pitch invaders because of the 'spectacle' it can create. They were told just to wait for them to come off, then deal with it.

I assume this is no longer the case after seeing this guy give them the run around?

Ian Walker - he booted the intruder about so the stewards didn't have to. We lost about 5-1 and Peter Crouch scored a hat-trick.
