Sorry mate, that's way off. O Neill had served his time as a non league manager with Shepshed and Grantham..spent a decent 3 or 4 years at Wycombe getting them into the league and establishing them there and then done six months at Norwich.

All those years of apprenticeship needed for a Championship team.

This Dutch fella has done 1 season in Holland and four games at Man U. He's grotesquely undercooked and over promoted

I was more thinking of games lost if they’d have listened to the fans back then who wanted him out we wouldn’t have been so successful as we were under him

Dyche is a decent championship manager and has the experience and would at least give us a bit of fight for the rest of the season

....and also a possibility of getting us back up

Man U transfer business this summer was dreadful.

They vastly overpaid for Yoro and I think they panicked into buying Ugarte but on the whole I think they had a decent window.

Like us, United need a lot more than 1 window to fix their squad.

It's such a weird feeling at the moment. In any other season we'd be looking at our current position and thinking that if we sack the manager and get somebody decent in, survival would be very possible. We'd all be focused on if/when the club was going to pull the trigger and speculating on who might come in. And when the manager was sacked, we'd all be buzzing about the prospect of at least having a proper go at staying up.

I don't feel any of that this time. The club has already played its 'sack the manager' card and I just don't think they'll do it again. And even if they did, I don't think it would do any good. It just feels like the rot has set so deep within the squad that no manager could do anything with it. There's nothing to do but endure the rest of the season as we go down without a fight and mentally prepare ourselves for the Championship, where we may well be starting next season with a points deduction.

It's strange to feel so completely resigned to our fate when survival would usually seem very possible from our current position.

As harsh as this sounds, a lot of these players have been here before and failed due to mental strength, ability etc. Faes, Vestegaard, Justin, Soumare (yes he has been a lot better recently but still in his make up), Daka, Winks (fell off a cliff at Spurs). Ayew, Skipp (fell off a cliff at Spurs), Ndidi and even Vardy - 22/23 he went missing. Either here or at other clubs, when the going has got tough, they've buckled. Its very hard to like the vast majority of our squad. Yes we have players like Facundo and Bilal who give us hope but the reality is, both of them are fighting against the utter shite around them.

The no hope is because genuinely, you look at any starting line up and every single one on that pitch can have a stinker - some sort of stupid mistake and then a collective drop of heads. Its in their make up. For a lot of them it will be the last time they play an active role in a PL team. May get the odd supporting act but that's about it.

Its a sad state of affairs when there are limited heros on the pitch.

Through nothing but the sheer fortune of having a phenomenal goalkeeper putting up record breaking numbers to keep us in games.

The criticism for Cooper wasn't over the top. He had to go.

Of course the goalkeeper is massive but we were scoring goals here and there. We didn't lose to relegation rivals like we do now. We went away to Palace and only dropped points because of a defender mistake, for example.

I'm not arguing Cooper did or did not deserve to go. I think he did and at the time I was pleased we sacked him. However people are now using excuses for Van Nistelrooy when it's been even worse under him.

Results have been worse but performances have been better.

You either back him or sack him, the board are dithering as per usual, and completely unaware of the situation. The club is being run down the shitter, the sooner these charlatans sell the club the better.

It's obvious we're running into limitations of competence with the players we have available, though still, Y U SUB BEK, RVN? :P

(How rude would a rude Ruud be if rude Ruud would be rude? :P )

Ruud isn't daft, he's played at the highest possible level.... Players don't get picked on training ground form!

We'll never know, nevertheless Ward was number 2 as per Cooper when Jakub got injured, Jakub had just come back, I don't think Ruud could have realised it would go that badly, I reckon it was a decision most managers would have took, that being said, it's the clubs fault imo, Ward should not be at the club after 22/23.

Ruud has a good coaching background, a clear idea of how he wants to play and is respected worldwide. I think he'd do alright in the right environment.

We couldn't be further from the right environment. For any manager.

Have they though, if you look individually who has improved?
Possibly just Bilal, which was probably likely to happen with more game time irrespective of who the manager was.

Yeah Ruud has stopped the 20 plus shots per game, but at the cost of being able to score goals.

We were warned about his shortcomings before he arrived and the Dutch football expert interviewed on RL has been pretty much proven bang on.

He still deserves time, not that it really matters who's in the dugout. The club is done at this level, it's just whether he'd be happy to manage a lower-mid table Champo side.

It has been for about 10-12 years hasn't it and he only started in July 2024. Not sure that gives him a tremendous amount of time to sort out his recruitment staff :D

Do we think RVN immediately went to Rudkin/Top after Sat and demanded signings and said wtf is going on? Surely?

He said it’s a good start when talking about the new RB

I didn’t want RVN in the first place and it was bleeding obvious he had no experience or ability for this role.

He’s not even at the Rooney / Lampard level and the more I think about it I start churning out this……

Hey Ruud Hey Ruud

Your a good looking Dude

 But your causing a Feud

And lowering our mood

I’ve gone off my food

As your not very shrewd

And making me lewd

So I start talking crude

Lost my prim and prude

Going matches in nude

Sorry to sound rude

As I sing to Hey Jude

And you get booed
