Would be nice to see more of his talents but most important thing is game time, then we can assess properly in pre-season and give him a chance in the squad next season.

A top of league 1 loan would be have been better but then no guarantee he plays, doesn't appear teams were queuing to take him on.

Your two examples are a little extreme, Alli went onto score 18 goals in one season in the prem and was rated over £100m at 21 and Bellingham sold for 100m plus with add ons at 19.

I don’t think a 19 year old coming back from a serious injury that kept him out for 255 days and hadn’t played any league football before his loan is quite on the same trajectory.

It was merely two young players shining outside the premier league at a young age.

He’s started three games and set up a nailed on goal. If he hadn’t have been injured he’d probably have a few more goal contributions by now - in a poor side too.

Similar numbers to Stephy last season and worse than Fatawu, the players he'll be competing with for the spot if he stays on the wings.

He's got time on his side compared to Mavididi at least.

The sample size is just too small to compare them tbh. 10 games has to be the absolute floor for comparison. Alves I reckon will be around the 0.3 - 0.4 xG+xA per 90 mark which is absolutely fine for his age (and lack of minutes generally). I really wouldn't be surprised if he started over Mavididi next season.

Its not just the sample size, its the fact the numbers for our players from last season are in the context of a successful team at the top of the league, vs a dog shit team

even if you ignore the physical condition / match fitness of Alves presently

You’ve also got to think of the mental positives for him . I’m sure at times when he was out with his injury he may of thought he’d never be up to playing professionally again . Half a season of being in the physical championship will show him he can .

I watched him play yesterday, he is so far from out first team.  He needs time.

Which of our high flying wide men do you think he looks miles off? Ayew? BDCR? Mav?

I wouldn’t be against a loan move until January at a top end league one team next season.

if he’s doing well we could always recall him.

He's an attacking midfielder not a winger, he's playing there for Cardiff for a number of valid reasons

I'd have him over Soumare he'd at least look like he was awake and interested.

We have to remember Mavs was the messiah in the champoinship, he is garbage in the prem.  This kid needs time he is no where near as good as Mavs was in that shitty league

Think he's capable of playing both isn't he. Certainly seem him play for our u21s/18s out wide and as an AM.

I'd fancy if you put Alves in there, you'd soon appreciate Soumare's physicality, even if he does only use it about 5% of the time :D

but as others have said, if the players around him are improved he might shine more.

it’s impossible to say at this point but if he stays healthy and gets minutes we can take a good look in the summer. he doesn’t need to be as good as stephy or fatawu, he needs to be as good as yunus was.

For now yes but I'd like to think his skills will eventually prevail.

What are you talking about you nutter? lol

I've said he plays across LW AM and RW and that Soumare is stronger than him lol

What a wish list.  There is a reason. He isn't getting any traction at Cardiff, he needs time to develop.  L1 of you ask me

Fatawu, Mavididi, Monga and Alves as wing options next year is the absolute dream

And Evans.

Bring on a transfer embargo please but where we have to also sell/release any player on more than £50k a week.

I’ve watched nearly every minute of his loan and before his injury he seemed to be getting better and more influential each game, especially Plymouth away before his injury.

He definitely looks leggy since coming back and isn’t 100%. I know I’m biased because I rate him highly but the talent is there for sure.

Cardiff are a seriously poor side too, anyone who’s watched them since he’s been there will agree. They don’t keep the ball for any longer than 10 seconds and I’m not exaggerating.

That injury has annoyingly disrupted him but the main thing is he wasn’t out too long.

Also that Colwill might be the most frustrating player I’ve ever seen. Great athlete and can run all game but incredibly poor decision making.

Just playing actual senior football should be a big boost for him.

If he can come into our squad with (hopefully) better players around him, he should develop quite quickly.
