We have no money for new players but keep rejecting offers for our own homegrown talent like McAteer and Thomas which would give us instant profit and are hardly players who are playing regularly in the first team.

What am I missing here?

Your missing the same thing as me obviously.

McAteer and Thomas are both 23, that's not really young anymore. Neither look like they'll be mid PL players in their careers, take the money and move on.

Yeah but mid PL isn't where we're headed. They'll be looking at stocking us up for Mid EFL.

Without scrolling thru the thread, is the issue not the money that could be recouped to stave off FFP issues, but a looking transfer ban for when we inevitably get relegated? Sell these now and we can’t get others in?

There is no prospect of a transfer ban when we get relegated.

Did the EFL not threaten us with an embargo already last season? Or am I misremembering

No need for a ban when the muppets in charge couldn't complete a decent transfer in time if their lives depended on it!

We got threatened with point deductions etc, that didn’t occur.

They imposed a token embargo when it suspected we might breach for 2021-24, but we didn’t breach. The EFL therefore has no grounds to impose a transfer embargo on us.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/mar/22/leicester-issue-legal-proceedings-against-premier-league-and-efl?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other Yeah they imposed one but it was withdrawn, does imply they may do it again if we are in breach, however. I wouldn’t rule out going down and being hit with an embargo and/or a points deduction by the EFL.

Just a thought… as a lot of people saying we should “snap their hand off”

It’s a loan with obligation to buy. Maybe they wanted to pay us in Jul and new financial year so we said no.

Loan doesn’t help that much, doubt he’s on mega wages.

We could have sold McAteer, bought Edward’s and be significantly better off in PSR terms… **** me we are run about as well as North Korea

No one knows how well North Korea are run.

No one’s at Leicester knows how to run a football club or would seem.

If we get a deduction then it will be for the historic charge. They have no grounds for imposing an embargo.

My word...it seems like they can't get any money for half the players. They pay too much and then when a good offer comes in...we reject it.

Why would we accept it if there is little chance of getting a replacement?

People would soon moan if it was accepted and then we couldn’t turn around a signing in a few hours.

Transfer embargoes are not imposed for breaches. They’re a temporary measure that can be imposed if the EFL suspects a club may breach in the current year. There are literally no grounds for the EFL to impose an embargo on us.

Add to that little chance at getting paid, based on obligation that Sunderland need to get promoted.

I don’t care if it was 8million payable over 50 years we should still have taken it

With the ink still wet on Rudkin's Xerox fax machines, we just cash  in 90% of the value with Macquarie anyway.

It's what KP do. Wait 6 months for our 30m TV payment? Or mmmhhh, yeah, cashy cash cash today, yum yum ,.slurp slurp for 25m?

Do we need a replacement?

In the same vein as needing one for Thomas.

2 players we've been lucky enough to be offered a decent sum for either and we've fxxked it just so we've got bodies.

If they were 2nd choices, fair enough. They're not though. LT is arguably 5th choice LB.

It doesn't matter of we are never getting paid, both deals where based of obligations only if conditions are meet.

So we lose two squad on a gamble we may or many not get paid.

I'm sure if the deals had been a straight up transfer we would have sold both.

What do we need a replacement for? He shouldn't be anywhere near the first team this season?
