So current LCFC is too miserable for words. Me and my mates tried to define the games that marked the beginning, and the end of our glorious era?

We agreed on the 5-3 Man Utd game as the beginning. At the time perhaps the most extraordinary game I’d seen.

The end? Blowing a 2 goal lead at home to Brentford in August 2022, when our according to the BBC report ‘There is so much talent running through this Leicester team but there have been suggestions that momentum could be waning after a dormant summer in the transfer market so far.’

You know what happened after that.
September 2014 to August 2022. A wonderful 8 years

Beginning would be first game of the 2012/13 season where we beat Peterborough 2-0.

Middle, Everton, May 2016.

End, Forest or Roma away, take your pick but it was one of those.

Not beginning of the end but the home draw with Norwich in 19/20 knocked us that season. After that we become inconsistent.

Rodgers being apoplectic when 3-0 up at half time against West Brom towards the end of the 20/21 season, apart from winning the cup we ended badly and blew top 4 for the second consecutive year, that’s when the downward spiral started for me and no one did anything to stop it

That was utterly bizarre. That first half was probably the best we had played for a while and then at the end he came out and said all that.

Looking back now it’s crazy how many capitulations we had under Rodgers. Easy to say now but I wonder where we’d be now if we just shook hands and went our separate ways at the end of 21/22.

I always felt like something shifted after that Norwich result during 19/20 just before we got battered by Liverpool.

You could also make a case for the first game back from lockdown where we blew it late on v Watford. Completely set the tone for the rest of those games

End: Bournemouth (a) 2020 - Perhaps premature in many people eyes, yes we still went on to compete in Europe, win the FA Cup, but the writing was truly on the wall from that game onwards.

That's definitely when we started showing our soft as shit underbelly and ability to roll over when the going got tough. Imo that is when my concerns over Rodgers started and the beating by Forest in the cup after winning it was the absolute clear sign.

Beginning: You can go back to Nigel Pearson the League One season and how that really turned this club around.

The catalyst to our golden era? West Brom (a) - Start of the Great Escape? Could be wrong with timings but that's sticks in my head, what an away day.

That Bournemouth game. Midsummer of course. I sat at the bottom of my garden for about an hour I was so grumpy about that one.

27th October 2018, West Ham at home was sadly the day the club started to spiral. Of course we won the fa cup and community shield since then but it's clear to see that things have never been the same at the club since this day. Poor Vichai will be spinning in his grave looking down at the way the club is being destroyed.

Absolutely agree, I too called it right then. Said more about him than the team.

I think the path would have been the same. There's no evidence King Power do differently with Vichai, they've always been clueless, got lucky a few times. Vichai appointed Sue and Rudkin, Sue has been with King Power decades. Running a business in a corrupt regime is different to running a business with proper business folk.

Covid ruined it all. Bled the club dry and the Dawson overhead kick in the last minute of the first game back started it off.

The FA cup win was a nice distraction during the silent decline but yeah, watford away first game back against big Nige started the rot.

It's when Ricardo broke too, he was looking world class in the Villa game, never been the same since.  I wonder why there are so many ACLs in modern football.

Can't argue with Bournemouth. I can remember saying to my mates, proper teams, teams that genuinely want to consistently be up there don't lose games like that, or at least when they do, they don't accept it. We then followed that up with two limp losses to spurs and man united.

We then had a net spend of £4m that summer sold chillwell, bought in Castagne and Fofana which at the time felt like rodgers really pushed hard for the Fofana.

It screamed to me that we were coasting in the background.

Quite easy for me, the first match of the season, Sunderland 2015, the realisation that this was the best Leicester City side I'd ever seen, and Kante hadn't even got going.

The end was F#rest away in the cup, game over.

We had fun along the way.

The beginning was West Brom away. That 3-2 with the Vardy last minute winner.

I would say the ending was the 6-2 against Spurs. That was when I first thought we'd be going down. We had a broken team with no spirit.

I agree that that was when our soft underbelly was first exposed but we did go on to make a European semi-final as well as win the FA Cup and Community Shield after that.
