Quite simply the answer is Cooper, whilst he didn't hand picked them, he asked them to find him premier league experience and between them that's what they came up with.

Think skipp may have been him.

Expensive old players one was a free transfer the other £5M hardly broke the bank. Regarding the saints game we outplayed them in the 2nd half and the score was 2 all when they had a player sent off

I'm not surprised nothing has happened. The club have no idea what to do.

They probably thought the gap was still going to be 2 points, they didn’t envisage Wolves beating Bournemouth , now it’s 5 points, and they are dumbfounded.

I agree, but they've been dumbfounded since the last relegation.

Man, this sucks.

Honestly, they thought it was just a minor blip and we were well and truly back this season.

There was no contingency in place incase RVN wasn't good, at the time of sacking Cooper there was a firm belief internally (players and board) that we were a mid table club being poorly managed by Cooper.

I know it sounds silly to say because most of us have more common sense and seem to understand football more than some running the club, but now the "but it's only 2 points" line has gone, I think they are only really now genuinely worried, it's all been very similar to 2022 where we were "too good to go down" internally.

There isn’t an iota of football intelligence in the boardroom. The Premier League doesn’t stand still , you need to be proactive , and we are so lackadaisical it’s a discredit to teams in mid table like Fulham , Brentford and Brighton there owners are more competent than our incumbents.

It should be shouted from the rooftops that Fulham paid about as much for Emile Smith Rowe as we did for Oliver Skipp.

The mask is at least off now - the media are acutely aware of the incompetent way our club is run. The mouth-breather narrative has weirdly shifted to the 'yOu dESErvE iT fOR hOUnDIng OUt coOpEr' argument now, because they can't feasibly claim we're lucky to have the ownership we do anymore. It's public knowledge that they couldn't run a bath at this point.

lackadaisical - now that's a word I can get behind! I salute you!

yea, what I didn't do was check how old Skipp actually is because **** me, was his paper round in Mordor?

the score was 2-1 when they had a player sent off and should have been 3-1 with a clear penalty not given to them for Ayews WWE audition from a corner.

We drew level from the penalty from which the saints player got sent off so didn't gain an extra player until Southampton  kicked off

They paid £35m for Smith-Rowe and we paid £23m for Skipp.

I’m all for sack the board etc but those fees aren’t ‘about as much’ as each other.

I am glad they are ready because after West Ham we have some very winnable games including Man City, United, Newcastle and Liverpool!

We retain absolute belief in the group of players we have and the qualities of the manager and staff around them for the challenge ahead of us. There’s everything to play for during the coming weeks, and we are all ready to fight for it.”

Top may need a new coms director lol

It's going to be a long way back, points penalty next season possibly but in a way this could be a good thing.

To bounce back with most of the current players would be the worst thing to happen.

I would like to see ruud stick around, bring in better coaches, blood some youngsters and go back to buying rough diamonds.

Constantly changing managers just turns us into Watford.

Hopefully the penny will drop over the summer, we have spent a ton on seagrave it's time to start making use of those players. They can't be any worse.

I’ll get pelters, but I’m at the point where I  wish Nige was in good health 😭😭 even if just for the champ rebuild.

I had no faith in them pulling the plug on Cooper but they did. No chance they do the same and admit failure twice in a season.

Any manager with a half decent reputation isn’t coming here, and we’re starting to look like Watford for hiring and firing.
You could have Klopp in the dugout and you still won’t get any sense from those above, it must be absolutely chaotic at the KP.
