If we do get rid of Ruud, I’m 100% sure it’ll be Dyche to come in.

doesn’t need a big budget, knows the championship and prem inside out. Would all but guarantee promotion

My heart stopped for a second when I saw this! :sweating:

I did the same and then started wondering whether it would be the worst idea in the world into the end of the season.

I was all for Ranieri coming back during our last relegation season, as it would have at least lifted the clouds and created some positivity (plus he's a firefighter, as proven by his two spells at Roma since).

Mind you, at this stage, I'd take Shaquille O'Neal.

I think MON was quoted as saying he would have taken the job if asked when we got Dean Smith & Co for that short stint. No hate on them, it was a pretty impossible task. But that bit of magic from someone who would have undoubtedly lifted the fans who knows what might have been!

A month or so ago I heard Martin O'Neill being interviewed on the radio. At one point the interviewer said, "Now turning to a team close to your heart, what do you think of Forest this season?" O'Neill replied, "Why would you think they're close to my heart? I just played there for a bit."

I get the impression he doesn't feel that way about us.

Let's be honest, I doubt Enzo had any idea who Fatawu or Hermansen were before he joined. Be really interested to see who in our recruitment team is finding those two and Bilal,  and who is responsible for Ayew, BDCR and Skipp

It might be the same person.....!

The idea got pooh-poohed on here at the time but I think it might have worked. The thought of a full stadium singing "Martin O'Neill's blue army" as we stayed up on the final day was just too tempting to miss out on in my opinion, but on the other hand it could've been a total failure.

No he wouldn’t.
Don’t want Dyche.

I wouldn't mind us going for Liam Rosenior.  He's worked under difficult circumstances at Hull and Strasbourg and has done a decent job.

He's playing the youngsters at Strasbourg and might know of a few gems on the cheap

Came here to suggest Rosenior. He's done well everywhere he's worked. Was very highly regarded as a coach at Derby under Rooney as well.

Dyche is a relic - we need a young, progressive manager who can utilise the academy. Our most successful promotion-winning managers have been in that mould: Little, O'Neill, Pearson, Maresca to an extent.

If only for the size 22, he could launch up the arse of these players

I’m not really sure you could say MON and NGP used the Academy to that great an extent.  In many ways they had a similar approach though:

- Clear idea how they wanted to play.

- Excellent recruitment from places where nobody else was looking.  Round pegs into round holes.

- An outstanding coaching team who drilled players within an inch of their life.

- Motivated players so they loved playing for the club and each other.

Yes I wasn't suggesting they all had the same focus on the academy. MON did use Heskey pretty effectively. Big Nige wasn't particularly focused on the academy in his second spell but then he had plenty of cash to splash.

We've invested in Seagrave and the academy over the last decade and we should now start reaping the rewards. Nelson, Alves, Evans, Monga and Stolarczyk should be central to our rebuilding plans next season and any new manager should buy into that.

That said, as you say, the main thing is to have a clear plan and structure from the DOF to the scouting team to the coaches. It doesn't matter who we get in as manager if the DOF can't ship out unwanted players, continues to burden the club with enormous salaries for players over 30, and has an inward transfer strategy based around relationships with favoured agents.

Appointing Dyche would make me give up on the club like nothing else over the last 3 years.

I can’t think of a less inspiring appointment. Even if he gets us up and stable at 16th every season, fuch watching Dycheball for the next three years. Would rather cut my nads off and drop them in a bucket of salty water.

The academy was much different in Pearson’s time but relative to the quality there was and the level we were at:

Joe Mattock

Max Gradel

Liam Moore

Jeff Schlupp

Andy King - made a few appearances the season before Pearson joined but really broke through the year after.

Not bad considering. I think he certainly wanted to where a player was worth a shot.

I felt like this when we appointed RVN, just can't take to him.

Being a shit manager hasn't helped either

I thought he brought a fair few through.  Plus most of the young lads he got on loan too did pretty well over their careers.

He could def spot talent

Stef Oakes played in a League Cup Final for us. Stuart Campbell and Stuart Wilson played in the top flight under MON (the latter scoring). There was a group of players which bubbled under the first team squad and would become first teamers - Jordan Stewart, Matt Piper for example. Appearances for Goodwin and Thomas too.

Are we Southampton fans in disguise.lol, the parallel's are crazy.

Southampton aren't a fanbase I come across often but one of them liked a tweet of mine so out of interest I had a scroll down their timeline. It was hilarious in its similarity. It's neither crap manager, it's the board. "The fans will still clap them off" etc... eerie similarities.

We've fallen further as we were higher to begin with but Southampton's decline is mental and doesn't get enough coverage either. But again, like us, they make nowhere near enough of a fuss. It's outrageous how bad they've become.

If Maresca gets the boot from Chelsea....would you?

He wouldn't touch us. Going back to Top and Rudkin is like Andy Dufresne offering himself back into Shawshank.

Last manager to take the gamble on youngsters was Jock Wallace after the Mclintock disaster. Gave us some good times ,we need someone  similar to take a gamble and give us something to  be proud of again.
