I keep reading this but nobody has actually explained on what grounds we'll be punished. They do actually have to demonstrate we've broken the actual rules, vibes don't hold up in court.

We’ll be fine in the Championship, unfortunately the system has allowed crap run Premier League clubs to succeed at that level due to the bottle neck. 
 

We’re in for a points deduction but we’ll be easy top 6 with the squad we have.

Couldn't care less, I'd happily have another year back in league 1 if it meant we can get rid of these players, board and owners and start a fresh. Club needs rebuilding from the bottom up

Agree.  Was about to start a thread regarding this and I would take L1 now to drain the swamp.

 

I know it’s sacrilege on here but on my FB I am on the Bentleys Roof page and there was a wonderful picture of Gary Mills, Steve Thompson and David Oldfield all wearing the shirt with pride.  Hell I’d go back to an action shot of Phil Turner, Phil Horner and Gary Ford ⚽️🦊

I've said loads, we had worse players than these lot before, but they are the worst bunch we've ever had when you take into account wages, transfer fees and a genuine lack of effort/pride. Sell/release the lot in the summer, other than the youth players and just start again. I'll take us being crap next season so long as we can see a long term plan and a group of players that will actually try and show some pride in the shirt.

But others teams I’ve seen Josh Low, Robert Alleyne, Dave Langan, Dave Puttnam etc weren’t half as good as this lot - and it didn’t bother me - but they put in 100% effort and had pride.

 

Disgusted with those fans clapping them off yesterday- seriously?  I will get my club back one day

For the season we were in the Championship, yes. So they can't charge us for that season.

Yep the people that are clapping that muck are complicit in the destruction of the club. Think they are "supporting" the club when they are actually doing the complete opposite. Some say that we've become deluded and have high expectations after we won the league, I think for alot of our fanbase it's the opposite, they've become passive and accepting of mediocrity (it's gone way worse than mediocrity to be fair). This whole "we were in league 1 once" "be careful what you wish for" "Best owners in the world" "you should be happy we've had success" nonsense is what's helping destroy the club as too many of our fanbase aren't questioning or protesting or trying to do something to actually bring about change at the club. Sickening!

We successfully appealed against the PL's right to charge us for a PSR breach for 2020-23 on the grounds that we weren't a PL club on 30 June 2023 (because we'd just been relegated). The PL appealed our appeal and we are currently engaged in an arbitration process over that, although nobody seems to know exactly what is being discussed or when we can expect an outcome. It has been speculated in the media that if the PL can't touch us for 2020-23, the EFL might claim that it has jurisdiction for that period and try to punish us for the alleged breach. As yet it is not remotely clear whether the EFL will actually be able to do this - it's just media speculation. If the EFL tried, I've no doubt our lawyers would be contesting it vigorously. 

 

Some people seem to think the EFL will impose a transfer embargo on us when we go down, but this won't happen because they have no grounds to. Their previous embargo on us was imposed because they suspected that we might breach for 2021-24, but it was recently confirmed that we didn't breach for that period. So we won't have a transfer embargo this summer.

The perception that the EFL is going to throw the book at us next season is pretty widespread but it isn't really grounded in reality. As mentioned above, the only way they might be able to get us is if they successfully argue that we came under their jurisdiction for 2020-23, but it's not clear whether they'd have any legal basis for this. Ironically the best outcome for us now would probably be for the PL to win its appeal and impose a points deduction on us for 2020-23 this season. It won't make a difference as we're going down anyway and we can't get punished twice for the same offence, so the EFL would not be able to touch us.
