She nearly met me for a drink in Hampstead. God knows how that would have went. Probably better than his tenure.

Still absolutely rinsing Hamza for engagement then lol

Nightmare for the social media manager when he eventually leaves and their numbers drop by about 95%.

Saw this post and thought of the above. Absolutely shameless really but works an absolute charm lol

I was scrolling through social media for the match updates and seems like this season’s thing is to refer to all of the players by their first names only. Very confusing for an old sod like me who can’t remember any of the players, especially the youngsters.

It's so irritating isn't it? "Tommy hits the post and Lorenz's strike is blocked." Just stop it now.

It’s so annoying. What are they thinking

isn’t an attempt to make us more endeared to the players?

Just scrolled through LCFC social media for the first time in a long time. What is with every photo since the start of pre-season using the blur effect?  Admin just found the filter?

Absolute horseshit.

My theory is it's to hide empty seats in the stands behind the players... :D

Such generic nonsense captions too. "Into the rhythm of the game."

Combine that, the first name bollocks and the pictures - you'd still have no idea what had happened in the game.

Yep hence why I asked on here. Absolutely no idea of the score. But I felt the rhythm of the game.

Ha ha yes, but I remember when I went to the club shop with the kids a few years back as the players were outside getting onto the coach for Millwall away (Ranieri’s last game). It felt so rude calling the players by just their surnames, weird calling Vardy “Jamie” and just awkward referring to them as “Mr”. I was in turmoil lol

After all the (justified) negativity, I think the "carrying the flag" theme with new signings is a nice touch.

I'd suggest a lot of the subtle changes we've seen in pre season have come from the commercial director.

I think it's a disgrace he hasn't been given full control of the marketing department (gone to Tony...) considering he's been a very successful sports marketer all his career.

The new signing imagery is much more geared towards creating affinity with supporters to the merchandise, as MC says above, adding club props only helps with that.

Getting the players wearing their own clothes (probably what they rocked up in to training) with the new shirts also gives supporters an idea of how the kit might look in every day life on them.

I know some of you will be reading this and thinking what a load of bollocks, but it's just buying psychology 101 to be honest.

Would love to know what’s made them insist on using first names

Having been on a digital / social media course for work, they often tell you to humanize your posts as much as possible for a better connection to your audience, blah blah blah, and using first names is one of the suggestions.  Which works in some industries, but absolutely does not work when reporting on goals in a friendly game where you're using all the kids.

Makes me think that whoever they've got doing the posts during the summer might be an intern with a social media background but no idea about football.  A couple of years back if Vardy scored, the post would be "Vardy" not "Jamie", and he's one of our most well-known players ever.
