I agree.

This isn’t something new for us, or many football clubs.

Shock horror that a person has a family and support network and doesn’t want to leave that to live nearer to a place or work, that they might only be in for a short period of time.

Couple this with the birth of a recent first child and any parent will tell you that having someone at home to support is massive.

If they’ve also based this on him being from Hemel Hempstead which is 90 miles-ish from Seagrave. …… that’s a 2 hour drive tops. Loads of people commute that every day. A decent motor with some nice massage chairs and you’ll be fine.

A can only assumed he’s got caught up at LFE getting off the M1 and been late.

RVN has choose to alienate one of the few people on our squad that can actually retain and pass a football. Just so we can watch a double pivot of Soumare and Ndidi.

Like you say; the fallout at PSV makes a lot of sense.

I think, more than anything, this shows Ruud's lack of man management in this situation. 1 day a week isn't a big ask on the grand scheme of things. If he's late a lot or there are regular issues associated with his commute, then I understand the request. However, if he's just had a baby, maybe it wasn't the greatest time to make a scene about it.

I can see both sides to this, but the man management side, or lack of it, is massively highlighted as an issue here.

This wouldn't even be a story of we were in a good position and winning games. Funny that.

About time the club stood up to players treating the City as a nuisance.

I say you either live here and take in the culture of Leicester/Leicestershire and it's people or **** off if it's not up to scratch.

Sick of people commuting from London or Manchester. People wonder why players look like they don't care or don't want to be here and it's because the simple fact of the matter is they don't care and they don't want to be here.

Exactly this.

Joelinton and Bruno G embrace life in Northumberland so there's no reason our players can't do the same in Leicestershire.

What about Kasper? He communted and cared more than anyone about us. I wouldn't question his commitment due to the commute.

I get what you're saying, and I do agree. To me this is more about the mentality of the players we sign. Or it's the type of players that football is breeding...soft man children with too much inflated egos.

Pearson got rid of people like that and built a team with mental toughness and the right attitude. We don't buy players on that anymore hence stories like this.

Like ice said before, I can see both sides in this one. But two standout points I can see is poor man management from Ruud and poor player attitudes which we see on the pitch as well.

It also highlights the Ruud has completely lost the dressing room.

I think it’s important to split living in a close radius of the club/city with a reluctance to spend any time. Yes, in an ideal world, they all live close by but in most sectors, you get people who work away. My dad did it when we were kids and I have worked with people who work away during the week. It wouldn’t be for me as I want to be with my family and when my dad did it, we did relocate fairly promptly.

But people stay away. Asking him to spend a night or two (game days) away and put up in luxury doesn’t seem a big ask. If you’re not willing to do that, then relocate. As others have said, it’s hardly good for an athlete to be travelling so much daily.

On the baby thing, if there are complications, he should have been given compassionate time off anyway. If things are normal and he just want to spend time with his family, well revisit the above points and maybe have thought about that when deciding to commute so far.

Pearson never had an issue with lads doing this and we had a lot making the commute from the North West and I don't think attitudes were really questioned then (apart from Ben Marshall).

Plenty of people commute, it’s whether or not you can turn up on time and put in a shift. It’s a pretty straightforward commute as well. Clutching at straws, too late for divide and conquer for this season I think!

Maybe laying the groundwork for his expectations for next season for the players?

they didn’t already have a base within 90 miles of Newcastle when they signed there.

i bet if they were already living in Harrogate then it would have been tough to get them to move to Northumberland!

im fairly neutral on this issue.

if the fella was already allowed to base in Herts then why ask to change it at a time when he’s got a newborn.  However, if it’s one night per week when the team don’t have an away game then that should be workable.

This assumes that his partner isn’t having physical or mental difficulties associated with pregnancy and having a new child. (In which case ruud should have backed off)

Impossible to judge without knowing a bit of context.

If the club was happy for him to commute when he joined, it's pretty unfair he's being asked to do it now based on what a new manager expects. I wouldn't do it either.

Obviously if he was told he needed to live closer it's a different story.

I'm not the biggest fan of Winks, but he's decent in the Championship, so we could do with keeping him on side for now. Him and Skipp will be an acceptable pairing down there.

Wasn't it only players that were there before Pearson? I thought Pearson insisted all new signings lived locally.

Drinkwater and Simpson were both brought in by Pearson and commuted

Wellens, Gallagher, Marshall, off the top of my head were all Pearson signings and all still lived that way. Tom Kennedy did but he's a different case as he signed for Pearson but then Pearson left.

Why we hammering Winks?

Maybe he just misses Enzo y'know....

Bet he's glad he had that banner up in Copenhagen everything has gone wrong from that point and for him personally too, out the side generally for weeks now.
