Vindaloo FOX Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 I've heard West Ham are keen, but could see one of the teams going up coming in for him. 1
K789 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 I'd be happy with 9 mill. Been.absolute shocking as he was in 22/23. Champs his level now 1
Bablemikey Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 £9m might attract interest but I wonder whether his wages could be an issue.

Dmitry Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Shows no interest to continu e at the club. One of the worst passers in the team. Him and Soumare sh ould be sold as the packaged deal. They are both atrocious. 1
Muzzy_no7 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Lyon paid stupid (dodgy af) fees to Forest over the past year or two for their dead wood. Hopefully they will do the same for us?🤷♂️

Ideally we'd keep him if nobody matches the clause, and then sell him next Summer for whatever we're offered. Can't do another PL season with him though...painful to watch. 2

He hasn't been good for like 4 or 5 years now though. Why would anyone pay £9mil for someone who was good half a decade ago? May as well pay £9mil for Marc Albrighton in that case.
UniFox21 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Personally think he'll go abroad, Prem is too technical currently for his style. Spanish league would probably suit him well

SK3Blue Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Horrendous decision to give him a 3 year deal at the time, he mentally checked out of the club the day he decided he wanted away but of course no one came in and we were daft enough to line his pockets for another 3 years! 1

He clocked off about two months ago which is a deep shame as he’s been a very good and honourable player for the club Not to mention the 18 months where he genuinely didn't look like a professional footballer. Lot of revisionism on here for Wilf, or maybe our bar is just that low now. In hindsight, that period he was attracting interest from Villa and being quoted at £50m was the time to cash in. He had all the best interception and tackling stats in Europe then. The issue is with players who just stop the ball and win it back is when they stop doing it all the time, they are useless. At least he was so much of a better footballer than most the championship that Enzo was able to play him further up. Be great if we could keep him for next season but I also wouldn't be bothered to see him leave after how he's been since he come back from Injury. Like anyone else, if you don't want to be here then leave. We have too many characters like that now.

Then there's the issue of his injury record. Don't forget he reportedly touted himself around when his contract was last up, got no offers that he fancied (IE nothing in the prem, when he would have been a free signing), and then signed for us again. He's older and shitter now and clubs will need to pay £9m for him. Appreciated, still think he will be picked up for the full release clause by a Leeds, Burnley, West Ham, Brighton etc, or that kind of level, which need a midfielder berth filling for relative pittance (in Premier League terms)

filbertway Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Wilf was massive for us last season, would be a shame to lose him for £9m. Especially when we turned down £10m for McAteer 2

Product of 84 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 I'd imagine he is on good money here, which will be why he resigned rather than moved on. I also think he has enjoyed his time playing for us. 9 million would be great business for the club. I'd imagine he will be on a reduced wage in the Championship so it will be easier for him to move on. Ndidi has been a great player. Often we've been a much better team with him in it. I'll be sad to see him go but I feel 9 million would be more beneficial to the club. 3

Popular Post LVFox Posted 29 April 2025 Popular Post Posted 29 April 2025 Think we've always looked worse without Wilf, even when he hasn't been playing well himself. I'd take £9m, actually think that release clause makes it super easy for the club to say take it or leave it to anyone interested. I wonder if he's now more of a box to box midfielder, as we saw under Enzo last season and even at the start of this year, his best form was under Cooper playing further forward 5
Grebfromgrebland Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 He's been one of our best ever players and a loyal servant. He'll be missed, but we need a fresh start and we need the money. 4
