les-tah Posted 30 April 2025 Posted 30 April 2025 If someone gives us £9 Million im pretty certain 2 x £4.5 million pound players from Europe would be so much better for us in the Championship. Unfortunately again this would be down to our scouting team but i guarantee if you gave Brighton or Brentfords scouting team that task they would smash it. 1

Ben Sheaf is going into the final year of his contract. £4.5m on him would replace Ndidi. 4

We know Wilf has some ability so it's fair he gets the benefit of the doubt but as others have said, bar some performances last season under Enzo, he's been pretty ropey for a while now. If we don't replace him with another beast, I'll definitely be popping back into this thread to see if people now see what he brought to the team. This is his stats this season against other top level cms. This is the stats from the 19/20 season. I think you can chalk the passing and lower interceptions down to the fact that we're more of a low block team and less of a pressing and ball dominating than we were back then. He was also asked to keep it simple whereas now there seems to be more expectation for him to be Pirlo rather than Savage. Edited 30 April 2025 by filbertway 2
Fox 4 Life Posted 30 April 2025 Posted 30 April 2025 Saudi clubs apparently interested. He was superb under Enzo in the Championship but the profit would be nice.

I'm fed up of the histrionics on here like nobody ever buys bad players (even when they're half-decent), all of the shit players can get moves. It's a sort of reverse exceptionalism. Clubs take on busted flushes like Sancho, Rashford, Mount, Ghezzal, Skipp etc all the time. 2
moore_94 Posted 30 April 2025 Posted 30 April 2025 Palace, Everton, Fulham and Saudi side Al Ahli (who Mahrez plays for) are apparently interested in him https://soccernet.ng/2025/04/leicester-ndidi-saudi-epl.html

No I totally agree with you in that aspect. But he’s certainly not the Wilf we all knew. 2

Our scouting team peaked in s2016/15 and before , it’s been pretty much downhill since then unfortunately.

When it moved it a 4 2 3 1 and he was asked to play with the ball more, it was no surprise to see a man that struggles to play football have performance levels decline. Having him next to Soumare is tough on him as well. May as well be in there by himself. That's the same as my recollection of things. In many ways the start of our downfall. It was some time around that 2021 period where we became consistently easy to play through the middle of and I don't think we've really recovered that at any point since. We've signed nobody in Ndidi's mould since this time. I thought early season Ndidi had probably been our best player, but he's dipped again and it's time to go.
sdb Posted 30 April 2025 Posted 30 April 2025 I still think he is a good player under a good manager. Will just need to find another club!
Popular Post jim5000 Posted 30 April 2025 Popular Post Posted 30 April 2025 (edited) Ndidi is a good PL midfielder when played to his strengths in a system that suits him. He will never be a 10, he is a destroyer, and he needs someone to sit alongside him that can a) support him defensively and b) create. Anyone that is forced to play along Soumare all season will look gash, doubly so if they are coached by a no-hoper that hasn't got a clue how to setup a team. Edited 30 April 2025 by jim5000 6

Look how good Wilf was against West Ham before Ruud started properly working with him.
Dmitry Posted 1 May 2025 Posted 1 May 2025 (edited) Was a good player for years, now is piss-poor (team is brimful of has-beens like him). Hopefully didn't squander his money, will retire comfortably. Edited 1 May 2025 by Dmitry
AyewJoking Posted 1 May 2025 Posted 1 May 2025 heres my take... no one wanted him on a free so 9m is a bit of a reach. can see someone panic buying towards the end of the window when better options have all gone. we cant do anything til he's sold and its a rudkin masterclass on deadline day 1
HankMarvin Posted 1 May 2025 Posted 1 May 2025 Wonder what his relegation reduction salary is? 20 percent is still 60k a week in the champ

Mike Oxlong Posted 1 May 2025 Posted 1 May 2025 None of the squad have done themselves any favours this season regarding getting a good move financially unless its to somewhere like Saudi.
