jv1 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Plenty of takers at that price - should give us enough cash to be able to sack the absolute fraud of a manager 1
StanSP Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 I wondered why the LCFC account on FB posted a picture of Ndidi yesterday afternoon. Looking quite solemn, too. 1

Iwebema Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 We had some great times with Wilf early on, proper destroyer in his prime, those days are long behind him, too good for the championship not good enough for the premier league, £9m given the football landscape feels about right. Unfortunately for me he's a player whose legs went from being able to play at the top level about 3/4 years ago and rather than recognise that and move on, we did our normal thing and took the easy option of just extending him. I don't think hes one of the main culprits of anger, but I won't be sad to see him go. 3
Leicester_Loyal Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 I personally think we'll struggle to get 9m, people talking about teams like Bournemouth and Fulham, he's not good enough for them surely? I said this about Castagne though so will probably get proved wrong again.

I wouldn't be against the sale if we had anything resembling a competent recruitment strategy. If we don't replace him with someone who has a similar physical presence we're gonna be easy pickings from set pieces and balls into the box next season.

Wilf is done - he was found out several seasons ago. Every now and again (aka West Ham home) he puts in a good performance with good tackling stats, but his limitations expose him and the game has moved on. He still offers something in the Championship but as time ticks away he has clearly shown he doesn't have the appetite for it now. The championship is a grind - you have to be dedicated to it. Be interesting to see who takes a punt. Few seasons a ago there were rumours about Forest, but i cant see him getting a sniff in that side right now. 2

Not as a starter but they will be in Europe next season and someone with his experience, and available for £9m would be a good squad addition.

Nolucklcfc Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Was absolutely unreal in that 19/20 season. But has long since been past his best.
AKCJ Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 £9m for a 28 year old that has played roughly 200 Premier League games and 30 games in Europe. I think that there will be a team or two that would see that as good business. All depends on his wages really. He could easily revive his career elsewhere. 4

Box to box might not be the best description but he was certainly getting forward far more under Enzo than we'd seen before.
Pliskin Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Time for him to go, another one who should have left a few years ago.
BigC Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Great player, one of the best Dms in the country at one point. £9m is good money. Not seen him or Soumare win a tackle between them in months
st albans fox Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 £9m and taking on his £4m/season wage is good business fingers crossed need to do something similar with vesty (though for way less money - probs £2m ) 1
Number 6 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Not sure which club would see it as good business this season who wouldn't have taken him on a free last.
Fox92 Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 He's awful I'd take the money. £9m when this time last year nobody wanted him for free. 1
Foxin_Mad Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 (edited) No one took him on a free last summer, why would anyone buy him? Im all for clearing out as many as possible, a lot of these clowns have been relegated 2 times now, they are mentally weak, no fight when the going gets tough, a lot of them are thoroughly unlikeable. We need to build again a new team with a different calibre of player if we ever have Premier League aspirations again. Edited 29 April 2025 by Foxin_Mad 2

But he wouldn’t have been free he’d have wanted a s/ o fee which would have been at least 10m spread over his contract. We must have agreed to pay something like £5m for him to renew. I think he’s the one risking losing out rather than the buying club (or us). These things tend to end up neutral for all parties once everything is taken into account. (At his level - when you’re taking about really good players then the sums can’t be covered). Edited 29 April 2025 by st albans fox 1

I think used correctly he's still a fine player and certainly good enough to be in most squads in the prem. We clearly see the guy completely differently though. I think if he goes to a new club. 1) he'll naturally be re-energised and 2) if he has a manager with a brain, they'll utilise his specific skillset. His physical presence and heigh in the middle will be a massive loss if we don't replace it. 2
RowlattsFox Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 Personally think his role last season was over-rated, he did a reasonable job of what Enzo asked of him and was our 'best' option but we'd have been better if we'd upgraded him. 2
st albans fox Posted 29 April 2025 Posted 29 April 2025 If true, this is also telling us that players who have signed recently will have relegation release clauses Doubt anyone would activate fats but wilf, vesty, winks, skipp, okoli are all possibilities 2
