Enjoyed the Forest meltdown. Pretend to celebrate securing Europe, as though they haven’t been singing about going to Barcelona all season

Managed to get a Forest fan with some ****ing sense today admit the financial drop off is huge and he cited ourselves of how it could play out

I remember club media constantly posting successful club contract renewals during our successful years, we wasn't playing hardball with those players, we were just chucking them big number contracts, we'll have to see if and when their big names come up to 2 yrs left, whether they move them on or pay them the big dollar. It's perhaps where Villa are at present, 1 bad season and they may be in trouble

The problem for clubs that are similarly sized, like us and Forest, is that you end up with a real quandary after a successful season.

Do you give players big new contracts to ward off the interest of more illustrious clubs, risking them being one season wonders who act as a drag on your finances and are too well-paid to shift, or do you sell them when you can and hope you can adequately replace them but risk replacing a Mahrez with a Ghezzal? Both are gambles for different reasons, but it never pays off forever.

It shouldn’t but I quite look forward to one of the European lesser clubs turn at the City Ground and cause some proper chaos. They are in for shock

You’d think our fans are the lunatic fringe of 1980s Millwall the way they bang on about it.

Ferencvaros turn up around West Bridgford, they won’t be hanging around Notts County before kick off

The Haverfordwest Town Ultras are pretty wild to be fair.

We paid £45m for Tielemans, can’t see that happening for any player in a long long while…..

I think we will if the club does want to get back to where we were, but I think they've realised you got to shed all your wage earners and start again to build. I reckon we may be in that phase till 2026/27 where we will begin to spend some money again

The fee was more widely reported at the time to be £35-£40m.

I would hope they have learned that the best way to do it is what we were doing ten years ago.

Shed the big wage earners, show imagination in scouting by bargain hunting and don't be afraid to look at 'lesser' leagues. There will be gems in the Championship, League One and in less watched and wealthy leagues abroad who could be phenomenal for us.

I don't want to see our scouts at Everton and Wolves picking around the bins for washed-up 30-somethings on £80k a week. I want them on planes to Denmark, Norway and Belgium looking for raw but exciting twenty-year olds on a fraction of the money but with huge amounts of potential. Some will miss, but it only takes a couple to hit. Would it have ruined the club if Vardy and Mahrez had performed like £1.4m of players from the National League and Ligue 2? No. Did it make the club when they turned out to be future Ballon d'Or contenders? Yes.

Basically, get a scouting team with a bit of imagination. Don't have Dwight McNeil and Craig Dawson here because of 'eXpEriEnCe' Take the opportunity to completely rebuild with a fresh, exciting team with room to grow. When we go up this time, make it sustainable.

Sounds really rough, potentially life changing surgery

Wish him the very best in his recovery. It sounds horrible and I didn’t realise it was as bad.

Best wishes to Taiwo. But the whole episode is disgraceful. Player safety should come first, he should never have been allowed back on the pitch regardless of whether they had made a sub or not.

Why?

In cases like this where it is obviously offside the reason for delaying is see if the attacking team actually gain an advantage and allow the game to flow if possible.

If the winger had mishit the cross and it had been intercepted we would have the chance to break with at least two of their players out of position rather than allowing them to reset for the free kick.

Sounds awful. Hope he recovers well and quickly.

Definitely needs to be a review of the offside flagging. Not to say the Lino did anything wrong but the guidances are poor and so many have expected something like this to happen.

Subsequently very poorly handled by his club. Making him carry on. Just play with 10 FFS. They pretty much were anyway but player wellbeing comes first. Then being used as an excuse for the owners actions.

It was inevitable a player gets injured because of this offside ruling and the delay.

Absolutely stupid when its so blatantly offside.

Hope the lad gets well soon, if im right i saw a documentary on him during Eid where he was breaking fast with a load of Forest Muslim supporters and came across as a really good lad(for a forest scum anyway!)

The more serious the Awoniyi injury is, the more outrageous it actually is that the Pirate Lord is using it shamelessly as an excuse for flipping out at Nuno for costing him millions in Champions League money he was hoping to skim from Forest.

Let's hope he makes a speedy and successful recover.

Probably not the right time but I can't help myself as it annoys me more than it should.

I've been saying for so long now not flagging for an obvious off-side will lead to an unnecessary injury. I don't blame the Assistant Ref but the law makers.

Wasnt the manager screaming at him to get back on the pitch?

Tbf not really. Nuno was asking the medical staff is he okay to come back on. They said yes and I don’t think he could then understand why he still wasn’t coming on the pitch.

It appeared to me Nuno was making decisions off unclear information. He was willing to change his sub but got told he’s okay ro carry on

Writing a note like that, about how you care about your employees first and foremost.... and then throwing your medical team under the bus is peak Maranakis.

He could have easily gone down the 'blame the offside rule' route.

Bloke doesn't care about anyone but himself.

Having said all that I hope the physio with those horrific chops has been sacked, don't want him on my telly again.

I see it’s now being thrown into the debate that following his transfer of shares into trust he was potentially in breach of the law in that he had no right to being on the pitch . The claim he had no more  rights than any “ supporter” because that is in all probability as to how UEFa now view him

That club statement is absolutely shameless
