And that feels a very ambitious figure without a major sale before the end of June. KDH was in 23/24 and we layered over probably £20m + of player amortisation from last summers signings. Have appointed and sacked Cooper, appointed RvN and quite likely sacking him before the end of June too.

Might well be in the realms of Mads, Bilal and Nelson all needing to go to raise £30-40m profit.

I think Nelson will stay unless we're particularly desperate.

I'll be surprised if he's disruptive and forces a move and I think we'll know we need defenders and a good season with us could put another 10m on whatever we'd get for him this summer.

I think Bilal is the most likely to leave but I doubt we get a lot of profit given he wasn't the cheapest and our situation isn't strong. Just leaves Mads, really he should represent at LEAST 15m profit on his own because of how cheap he was. But interest seems to have cooled a bit since his injury and lack of recovery, not actually heared many rumours at all about him lately?

I do think that the PL and the EFL are causing massive gaps in football. Championship and Premier league gap has never been bigger, due to PSR.

We didn't want a super league, but they are doing a great job of making the big clubs not suffer as much as the rest, while no one else can compete because they can't spend.

Football is a broken system.

Except that I'd now be very happy to see the so-called 'big 6' clubs disappear from the Premier League and play in a European league of their own.

The remaining clubs here could then be left to just get on with it!

They were never planning to leave the PL. The Super League was instead of UEFA's Euro leagues as they wanted to keep all the proceeds of Euro football themselves and not let UEFA have any. PL + Super League = Pure Greed.

Didn't the Premier League threaten to expel them as a means of making them abandon the idea?

Probably but then they didn't join the Super League they want both, they can't afford to lose the PL income.

Mads is not a Premier league keeper and possibly if a Premier league did come in for him it would be as back up ... let's be honest his overall game needs a lot of work

Have we been told how late the accounts were published? Bearing in mind on 14th January 2025 it was announced no club had breached for 23/24.

The FY2023/24 financials weren’t published late - auditors and Susan Whelan signed off 19 Dec - its just they failed to share with the EPL by 31 Dec deadline.

Indeed, until his injury he wasn’t far off the best keeper in the league form wise.

How would it be an PL IC if jurisdiction is transferred to the EFL ? My reading is that if it’s passed back to the EFL it’s dealt with under their rules and regulations
Whilst the expectation is that any PSR matter within the PL jurisdiction would be dealt with under their expedited procedure within that process the pro exists to vary the timeline detailed within

Here’s the PL rules re the expedited process remember that there are two other charges one is in respect of LCFC not sending in the 23/24 accounts by 31/12/24IMG_0196.thumb.png.fcb55ce4b8d8799abaacdcaf2e49e5e8.png

Everything you say makes sense. I just find it surprising that Maguire, who is widely regarded as one of the biggest experts on football finance, has such a different take on this issue to everybody else. I listened to his Radio Leicester comments again earlier. When asked whether the recent closing of the 'Leicester loophole' would make this case more straightforward, he replied 'not necessarily' and suggested that the PL might try to use our case to set a precedent for future cases rather than to try to impose a deduction on us next season. As mentioned previously, he also highlighted that Ipswich and possibly Southampton will argue that any deduction should be imposed this season because it could affect them financially.

As much as I'd like Maguire to be right, I'm leaning towards the view that he's probably mistaken as he seems to be the only one saying it. However, it would be odd for somebody who makes his living from being a football finance expert should get it so wrong.

That’s to a degree what confuses me.

You want him to be correct but now I have posted extracts from the respective rule books and read then several times unless I am missing something I just don’t understand his perspective.

Yeah thought as much. What is strange is that the PL did not announce back in January that we'd failed to provide them on time to them. I find this all extremely suspicious.

Not at all. Whelan emailed the accounts to her assistant Debbie on the 19th with a note saying, "Send this to the PL when you get a chance, Debs" - forgetting that Debbie had started her Christmas annual leave the day before. Whelan realised this when Debbie's out of office reply came through and tried to forward it to another member of the admin team, but she spelt her name wrong and it bounced back. At this point Whelan decided that nothing could realistically be done until the New Year and the PL wouldn't mind because who wants to look at a silly old accounts doc a few days before Christmas? And she definitely intended to sort it out as soon as she got back to the office in January, but what with one thing and another she forgot and only finally got around to sending it to the PL after they had emailed us eight times and left seven voicemail messages.

See? Not our fault at all. Nothing we could do about it.

I can see 2 reasons why the PL didn't charge us back in Jan.

  • They were awaiting the result of the recently concluded appeal - because one half of that appeal was to confirm whether or not the PL had jurisdiction over LCFC. They wouldn't want to embarrass themselves again
  • We submitted accounts late

Probably a bit of both?

I'm not convinced.

I reckon we sent it by WeTransfer but don't have the premium version to save the pennies.

PL didn't download within 3 days and here we are in a legal mess all over again.

If all the club is looking to gain from the sales is the amortisation remaining and maybe a reduction in wages then you know that there is trouble ahead

Perhaps the club are of the same opinion as many of the fans?

Happy to see the back of a lot of the squad as long as we don’t lose money and also bring down the wages.
