His overall win percentage as a manager is 39% whereas with Ruud’s it’s 43%, I don’t think he’s an upgrade on Ruud and for that reason we need to go back to the drawing board and get a manager that’s better.. there are options out there!

Russell Martin ain’t my first choice by a long way, and yes he had an horrific time of it in the premier league with Southampton, but we are going to be back in the championship, he is still only 39 years old

so his potential ceiling is still pretty high, hopefully we will benefit from him learning from past mistakes and he brings a style that is not just possession based but also durable and effective

He is one who will bring through younger players so it at least makes sense that we can build on our academy prospects.

As I have said not my preferred option but given where we are, it makes some sense and he is available, and it isn’t a massive step change away like it would have been appointing someone like Dyche.

I am luke warm to him which I suppose is better than being ice cold which is where i am with Dyche. If appointed I will back him and hope he is successful.

Russell Martin is known at Swansea and Southampton for switching to a winning formula to save his job when it's going wrong then changing back to his idealistic way of playing football when he's in the clear.

He is so adverse to change that he knows what tactics will win his team games and will consciously choose to not play that way as long as he's not at risk of being sacked. He will never change as he is too married to his ideals.

Not a Martin fan but this doesn't really give a proper picture does it? Ruud managed PSV, Martin managed MK Don's and Swansea prior to Southampton. Ruud's record outside of PSV and his stint battering us with United is shite

You could say that about every single manager, most are wedded to a ‘style’ Dyche included.

None of us have been party to the conversations with Martin, so we don’t know how his experiences in the premier league will impact his ideals moving forward.

When did Martin do this at Southampton? Even until the bitter end his demoralised and beaten up defenders were passing aimlessly sideways at the back then getting pressed and caught out. He stuck to his guns more than ever in the PL.

Not keen on Martin…. However…. At least we will have an identity and the players will be coached into a style.

I am still unsure as to what the plan is with RVN.

If youre only looking at Ruud's time in the PL with us then you might as well look at only Martin's time in the PL with Southampton.

Ruud comes out on top, which tells you something considering the records we broke.

Maybe this sacking from Southampton and some time out will help him reflect and adapt his tactics and ideas.

Sounds like he actually does understand tactics to win games when he adapts, but seems hell bent on his philosophy. Blend the two together and he could turn out to be a good manager in the game.

I feel so distant from the club at the moment that I genuinely don’t care if we got him.

Atleast his missus has great tits.

What was Ruuds record like before we played a bunch of meaningless fixtures against other relegated sides? Genuine question by the way.

For what it's worth had Ruud had a run where we lost the same amount of games but managed to score and look competitive I'd be open to keeping him on

What bit of wonderful news will come out about the club today?

  • Vardy going Leeds, Forest or somewhere equally annoying
  • Danny Ward contract extension
  • Steve Cooper coming back to team up with RVN as the dynamic duo
  • Another Charge of some description
  • Vestergaard has now brought his cat as well as his dog to the training ground?
  • Winks won't stay at the training ground but is willing to stay at a near by Premier Inn as a compromise?

News emerges that when we posted our late accounts to the Premier League, Rudkin had wiped his arse on them and written ‘C U in court, losers!’ in red marker pen over the top. This has only made the PL even more determined to go after us, according to reports.

Worringly his interview on Rest Is Football suggests he will not change. When asked what he could have done better at Southampton. He said not to change formation like he started too.

A very simpleton approach to looking at the situation. It's really not about context-less win percentages.

We don't owe Ruud anything. This should all have happened a month ago.
