Fair play to Bournemouth in, despite losing key players, making decent profit.

They'll struggle this season, I think. Same with Brentford, Wolves and Forest. At least one of those four will drop this season and I have a sneaky suspicion either Leeds or Sunderland will squeak survival.

Haven't really read much about it but isn't the argument simply that they can't be in the same competition as Lyon, not that they can't play in Europe at all. Not that I agree with the ruling.

Quite possibly, I haven't looked into it that deep.

But if that's the case, UEFA shouldn't be allowing multi club ownership at all then.

Gotta feel for palace, absolutely no common sense used by uefa and really does feel like an injustice.

Common sense would not set a deadline before the seasons end, common sense would say he did not have a majority stake in the club, common sense would say he's since left anyway, so why does it matter what the case was in March.

Rules are rules bollocks, if I was a palace fan I'd be fuming. The fact that uefa can't see an issue makes it even worse.

Look at forest, you can see the paperwork was done in case but he was still the owner regardless of the paperwork.

It stinks and shows how ****ed the sport really is.

Yeah the whole think stinks

March 1st deadline but Jabba didnt do it till the 1st April. And now he's taken ownership back on the 6th June. Smells worse than a butchers dustbin. What makes it worse is that Forest owner and fans thinks its ok to do this. Get in the auropa league by default

Hope they have a terrible season and get hit by PSR or something.  All other fans should rile them constantly when they are home or away

What’s the problem?

Marinakis’ two teams are in different European competitions. There is no possibility of them playing each other. If Forest had not dropped out of Champions League places, then the March/April thing might have been relevant, but they didn’t, so it’s not. It wouldn’t have mattered if Marinakis had never transferred his shares. There’s no conflict of interest.

Textor’s two teams were in the same European competition. They could have played each other.

It’s not difficult.

Nah mate its not difficult but your owner is as bent as a bottle of crisps dude. Got rid of his ownership..(late by the way) and then reinstated himself on the 6th June. Goes on the pitch and has a pop at your manager  in front of the whole nation cos u missed out of UCL and then relishes in taking part of getting another club thrown out of UEL. That and his huge davros meglomaniac ego trip he has going makes for an entertaining future of your once famous club for the rest of us. He reminds me a lot of Orange gob Trump. You won't win fvck all mate in the next 20 years so go back to your own self deluded forum and come back when you have won something that's not 45 years old.

There's no way Forest juggle the league and Europe with their squad. They'll do well to finish 15th this season.

They are signing mcatee, I understand he’s young but his stats are shite. Passes the eye test but can’t see the big hype. I might be wrong

Liverpool fans gave Trent stick for leaving, even though he seen out his contract played for the club for about 13 years. Won the premier league twice, fa cup twice, champions league, club world cup etc... moved to biggest club in the world in Real Madrid.

Yet happy to sign a player from Newcastle who is refusing play or train, showing the geordies lack of respect.

Good words from Steve Parish about the Europa place issue

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cx2950l5y31o

This is the key bit for me;

"To compound the injustice, clubs that appear to have huge informal arrangements with each other are also allowed to participate and even possibly play against each other."

Quite literally, Forest and Lyon have more to do with each other than when it comes to activities not in spirit with the sport than Palace and Lyon do. How can Forest and Lyon possibly be trusted not to fix an outcome? With the new league structure, if one needed a result that the other could help with, of course they’d fix the outcome! Lyon and Forest are quite literally in bed with each other!

Full Palace statement;

https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/statement/crystal-palace-club-statement/

At a time when we should be celebrating our victory in the Community Shield at Wembley, the decision by UEFA and followed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport shows that sporting merit is rendered meaningless.

When we won the FA Cup against Manchester City on that momentous day in May, our manager and players earned the right to play Europa League football.

We have been denied that opportunity.

It appears that certain clubs, organisations and individuals have a unique privilege and power.

This growing and unhealthy influence has shattered the hopes and dreams of Crystal Palace supporters, and does not bode well for aspirational teams all over Europe competing to progress when rules and sanctions are unevenly applied in the most flagrant way.

Multi-club structures hide behind the charade of a “blind trust” while clubs such as ours, who have no connection to another club whatsoever, are prevented from playing in the same competition.

To compound the injustice, clubs that appear to have huge informal arrangements with each other are also allowed to participate and even possibly play against each other.

While we respect the CAS tribunal members, the process is designed to severely restrict and, in our case, make it almost impossible to receive a fair hearing.

The denial of all disclosure requests to obtain correspondence between the relevant parties, the refusal to allow witness testimony from those involved, and the general lack of formality and respect for law mean decisions cannot be properly challenged, leading to pre-determined outcomes.

UEFA’s decision has wider implications for the governance of the sport. A combination of poorly conceived regulations and their unequal application means our brilliant fans will be deprived of the chance to watch this team compete in the Europa League for the first time in our history.

This should be a turning point for football.

UEFA must fulfil its mandate to pass coherent rules which are properly communicated and applied, with reasonable cure periods to resolve uncertainty and consistent sanctions, treating all clubs equally with a proper appeal process.

The European Court of Justice has made it clear that rulings similar to this will be under greater scrutiny from national courts in future. Only then will fairness and due process be granted to every team.

Although we continue to take legal advice on the next steps, we will compete in the Conference League with the same determination and will to win that characterises this incredible club.

Not sure on the ins and outs of it but Isak has appeared to handle this situation horribly. You can want a move away without acting like a *****, not sure if he's the **** or is just surrounded by *****.

That's a quality statement to be fair, really hit the nail on the hit, outlines the issues but in a professional way that doesn't directly sling mud at any particular clubs.

Fair play, I'll be rooting for palace in the conference league, hope they win it, help make the change the sport needs and if forest get battered in all competitions, get relegated and then face huge psr issues in future years then at least a little justice may be done

Stinks of someone trying to drive Newcastle into accepting a lower than expected bid

If its brilliant at Liverpool and Real Madrid come sniffing whats stopping him doing this again?

Liverpoolarent innocent in all this, they will be directing Isak's agent on what Isak needs to do to force a cut price deal

Just seems weird he has tried to do all this when Liverpool (and Arsenal) have splashed out on strikers.

Actually just reading that he told Newcastle last season would be his final season. Don’t get why players do that, they’ve signed a contract..

Yes, a firing on all cylinders Grealish is an asset to England in a World Cup year.

He'd have to have an amazing season to get back into the National squad. Turning 30 next month and probably behind quite a few guys at his position.

Be great if he did it though. I don't forget the players that played for Notts. Even if it was just for a season on loan ;)

Did anyone hear the deluded FLorist fan on talkSh!te this morning ? the pundits were going through who their top 6 would be and none of them mentioned Florist, so one of them had to text in and ask why they were forgetting about them ? Jokers, 1 decent season and now they think its top 4 every year guaranteed

They’ve scored 1 goal in 7 pre season games. If Chris Wood checks in for his pension this season, they’ll be floating around the bottom reaches.
