Ok, serious question here, I understand the optics and that he had to go, but what has Mandelson actually done wrong that has negatively effected this country?

My understanding (and I may have missed something) is that he was best friends with Epstein, suckered in like many others were. Once convicted he stood by his friend, questioned the conviction, he says he hadn't seen anything along the lines of what he was being convicted for and ultimately he took Epstein's word at face value. He definitely showed poor judgement in this regard and hindsight shows it was a big error.

So yes, poor judgement, yes poor optics, ok lose you job, but is that it?

This is coming from a Tory party that cost the tax payer Billions of pounds, lining their mate's pockets and is a huge reason why our economy is so ****ed. Not to mention all the sleaze and scandal from Boris et al.

What am I missing?

I’ve asked friends why they hate Starmer and most can’t come up with any coherent answer apart from “he’s a weak PM”. But can’t point to hardly anything other than maybe the winter fuel stuff.

So embarrassing that Elon spoke at the march via video link too.
“Take our cuntry bac” but getting coached on it by a Kethead South African living in America with a track record of being a twat.

Yep. He’s been extremely disappointing, but the mad thing is he’s alienating his core voters by pandering to people who will never vote for him.

Same with topics like climate change - people wittering about the problems but still driving their ICE cars, buying imported food, leaving lights on, going on holiday on planes. All preposterous examples but we exist in a virtue signalling society where it's important to be seen to be doing the right thing rather than doing it I guess.

It's entirely possible to move to sustainable and much less damaging methods of generating energy that won't doom us all while preserving all the luxuries of modern life listed above, but fair point well made.

The above being said, people can and should recycle/look in various ways to minimise their carbon footprint as much as they can, but the most important thing they can still do on the matter is vote, because the kind of change needed is state-level in scale.

God ! the far left drivel on this forum is embarrassing 🤦‍♂️

So is the refusal to describe any kind of policy ideas for the future from those endorsing the match on Saturday beyond soundbites.

So, drivel all round apart from the very clear idea that diminishing resources due to a changing Earth is a problem, I guess?

Random find, possibly pertinent:

"I'm tired of researching chronically online bullshit that should never have any actual bearing on real life but here we are in 2025 where the chronically online are domestic terrorists. The internet was a mistake."

Any specifics you'd want to chat over?

Sorry Stanley No, due to the fact that it will result in me being banned from the left wing eco chamber that is the fox talk general news forum.

I wasn't aware that civil policy discussion resulted in bans these days?

I guess that's why there doesn't appear to be any such policy based arguments forthcoming when requested, though.

It’s not ‘far’

just as the stuff on the right isn’t ‘far’

we leave ourselves little room for manoeuvre when we remove half of our linguistic options

Yes I agree it’s not far, I was using the word far sarcastically, as thats what a lot of people on the left seem to do, when someone slightly right of centre has a difference of opinion to them, the buzz word “Far” is used.

The problem is why are you referring to the Tories? Is good behaviour now a sliding scale based on precedent?

However, that being said, am about sick of the court of public opinion, so unless he has been proven in court to be guilty of wrong doing, I could not care less.

I think the words far right are being bandied about because there is genuine concern that's what we're seeing.

It's absolutely not far right to be concerned about immigration, to think that we should seek to reduce boat numbers, or to be concerned about changes to the national culture. They are perfectly reasonable talking points on their own.

The concern many of us have, though, is that there are players out there pushing on from there to a place where people openly talk about immigrants as like 'vermin', talk about sinking boats and allowing those on board to drown, talk about removing legal migrants outside of the law, talk about burning hotels etc - this is far right rhetoric and always has been. You can see this happening literally everywhere online now, and more and more in real life.

I think those that you describe are a very small minority that are being rapidly marginalised by the overwhelming shift in public opinion. Labour promised change but have brought just more chaos and sleaze. I dont know who can get a grip of this. It's all very unsettling.
