The major pluses for me are that he wouldn’t view us as a stepping stone and would be in it for the long haul and if he did get us promoted he would be realistic in his approach to keeping us up.

The best way for any promoted side is to play the percentages. We would be solid, hardworking and hard to play against. If we ground out enough 1-0’s to keep us up I wouldn’t care what the football was like

I've just had a look back at his transfer history at Burnley.

Christ!  The most flair he got was a window in which Burnley signed Maxwell Cornet for the left wing and 34 year old Aaron Lennon for the right!

Their 20/21 windows were hideous, on a level even we've not sunk to at our worst.

Think you could've ended your post there.

Totally not happy buying so called experienced players who rarely deliver ... there needs a strict age policy of buying nobody over the age of 25 .... they will then hopefully have a resale value ... the appointed manager will need to apply this ... Dyche getting the job is based on it

Trying to imagine this current Leicester side under dyche. He'll definitely prefer some players over others.

It'll be 442.

                           Stolarcyck

Justin.        Coady.          Souttar.        Victor

Mcateer.         Winks.        Skipp.           Bilal

              Ayew.       A NEW TARGET MAN

..... tell me that doesn't look like a Sean Dyche side. A back 4 that only looks too defend. Two wingers who don't go passed their man, just track back and whip in crosses. A defensive CM pairing who sit in front of the back 4 and a target man with someone like Ayew playing off him.

I don't see him fancying players like Vesty, Faes, Ricardo, Mavididi, Fatawu, Monga, Alves or Daka.

I quite like Dyche and he comes across well in interviews and such. I just don't think he will play in a completely different way to our last 3 coaches - so what's the plan with the squad there?

Doubt he would play Bilal on the left wing, he will of course use Mav and Fatawu on the wing, also he will take one look at Vitor and blow him over and play Thomas, I don' think he's stupid.

I think the only way this argument can be validated is if someone has examples of who he left out. What youth player didnt get a chance that should have? Who got chances when he left, or quit the club and reached a higher level?  Quite simply, if there are no examples of this, then it’s just good management. You play youth because they are good enough not just for the sake of it. I cant think of anyone who necessarily had a path blocked off the top of my head?

My wider point was that Dyche after initially doing it, stopped buying 18/19 yr olds to make the step up and went whole hog on the proven professional line

Dyche doesn't like wingers who drive forward, take men on and cut inside. He likes defensive minded wide players who play safe balls and put in crosses. Mav and Abdul aren't Dyche type wingers. Mcateer is 100% a Dyche kinda winger.

If Bilal does stay, where does he play under Dyche? He doesn't play that sort of CM or a no.10. I reckon he would end up on the left.

If and a big if he lands here a lot will depend on his remit and what he has to work with. Has often got players punching well above their weight and has had to cut his cloth accordingly. Will at least get players having a bit of pride and lets just get out of the divison rather than worrying about European football just yet. Not quite the pantomine villian some paint him as and would at least give him a chance unlike some it appears

anti for me for what we are atm

I actually like Dyche, but hes just not the fit for us atm,

and the fact hes "good friends" with our DOF isnt a good sign at all

Last thing we need is an ally for Rudkin, he'll be here for ever then.

Enzo wanted the same from his wingers to help defend the channels it's nothing new, Mav and Fatawu done that pretty well along with being effective going forward, If we get Dyche I don't think Bilal will be here tbf.

The fact we're seriously debating the merits and limitations of Sean Dyche as our next manager just shows how far we have fallen.

Taking an objective stance though. We're not on the back of two almost top 4 finishes. We've been relegated twice in 3 years.

Our owners are rumoured to be in financial trouble.

The squad is a shambles.

PSR issues are happening.

We're on a manager merry go round flip flopping from the styles of Rogers to Smith to Maresca to Cooper to Ruud Fraud with a patchwork of players from them.

We are where we are. It's hard to be excited but we're a championship club and Dyche is proven at championship level and has prem experience. We're not dropping to league 1 under his hoof it ball and he seems willing to come.

At the same time how long untill the clueless board decide they don't like his defensive football and sack him half way through for the season for another "insert celebrity name ex footballer" because from the directors box it isn't like watching man city.

Given the talents of Monga, elenga Fatawu, Mavs are they going to be left to rot now for Ayew and Bobby et Al?

What a mess.

Toffee here

I (and many others) absolutely hated the football Everton played under Dyche. I dreaded each game because I knew I'd be in for harried, overly direct football that bypassed what talent and skill our players had. It was painful to watch, even when we didn't lose.

We tended to do alright when sat back and absorbing pressure against far better sides, but Dyche teams CANNOT play on the front foot. Our record and performances against teams in the bottom quarter of the league was horrendous. Last season, we even lost twice to Southampton ffs.

But if you look at the wingers he has signed for Everton and Burnley, he tends to favour left footed players on the left, right footed players on the right. Obviously there are a few exceptions but that seems to be a common trait as he looks for his wingers to be wingers and get crosses from wide which probably does rule out BEK on the left no idea think of it but I just don't see our current wide options being Dyche kind of wingers.

This is exactly what he gets harshly criticised on. I viewed him as a guy who completely disregarded youth, but when you actually look at the evidence, you can see why only Dwight McNeil came through at Burnley for example.

What youth player didn’t get a chance that should have? At Burnley, the only two he missed the boat on were Jimmy Dunne and Bobby Thomas, yet were they going to get in ahead of the likes of Tarkowski, Mee, Keane and Collins, of course not. The rest of Burnley’s youth players from his era have ended up in League 1 or worse.

Some fans make assumptions without backing up their claims.

I simply don’t want Dyche because I’m not a fan of his style of football, but I’ll happily back him in certain aspects where I feel he gets harshly criticised.
