I honestly don’t know what people expect. 8 goals and 7 assists in our worst team ever playing most of the season under a mediocre manager. He also had the small matter of an ACL injury he came back from way ahead of schedule, he’s also just turned 22.

He’s been piss poor recently but who hasn’t (probably Ramadan related)? You could put Yamal, Musiala or Olise in this side and they would look like a shadow of themselves.

If you’re doubled up on and you only have Daka or Ayew to find you’re automatically hamstrung. He’ll move to a prem side (Bournemouth probably), flourish and his detractors will forget they ever slagged him off.

Also not really linked up with Mukasa yet. Fatawu, Mukusa and James should all be lifted by being able to combine with each other instead of effeminate Reid or Ayew.

Basically, what the majority of us are saying is cut him some slack. He’s a young lad with a shit load of talent playing in a shit, demoralised team. He’s frustrated as hell, unsurprisingly.

Under Enzo - on at least a couple of occasions he was dropped when he started to underperform and make bad decisions. Unfortunately, we don't really have an alternative to him and need the possibility of his wonder goals and so he is teflon in this lineup.

I often forget how young he is....players don't always have consistency until a little later in their careers.

It also shows how poor our coaching side is and the players own (100% conjecture from me) understanding of his game and how to improve it. The choice of standing still to receive the ball, step overs and cut backs or nothing. No instincts to get into space.

While Ricardo is a model pro, he stinks as a captain.  Could you imagine someone like Jordan Henderson and Xhaka putting up with these lazy players making same obvious mistakes.

But he has some limitations - he can't just sulk because he is better than the dross we have, it shouldn't stop him tracking back for example or making better decisions than cutting in on his left foot every single time trying to score a worldie for himself. Some of the guff he comes out with on social media also needs to stop.

Oh I absolutely agree. I’m just aware he’s a really young lad and I guess young lads get lazy and chat shit on social media at times. I said further up that he drives me crackers and it’s for all the reasons you’ve mentioned.

Obviously our output and goals are massively down but 6 big chances created this season in 80 minutes more game time than in 23/24, and that season he produced 32.

Before anyone says but we don’t create anything Mukasa has 5 in 6 games

I disagree. He will be sold this summer for considerably less than we once assumed we’d get for him. Then, after a period of adjusting to a normal club environment in which standards are are set and there a consequences for failure, he will begin to thrive and will eventually become one hell of a player.

This. You only have to see how many of our players leave and do well and interestingly, how many do this after making a quite slow start at their new club. It's true of Tielemans, Barnes, possibly add Hermansen in too.

Abdul was always good at tracking back, and always had positive body language on the pitch.

The tracking back was a really strong part of his game before especially under Enzo.

Did anyone else think he looked off when he scored the other night? He didn't celebrate, didn't smile.

I thought he looked completely knackered all game.

Probably pissed off with some of the fanbase? One of my friends told me he knew some lad who was in his Instagram DMs calling him every name under the sun and Fatawu was replying. Some proper mongos that let the fanbase down unfortunately. Hes been off his usual standards this year but hes still one of our most productive players by a mile. If you go after someone you go after the shit ones who dont put it in and produce nothing like Ayew

Yeah he definitely wasn’t his usual self. But he put in a great performance. Maybe just a bit embarrassed by the situation

I think he’s just pissed off how the season has gone.

hard to enjoy anything at the moment whether a fan or a player. He’ll be so disappointed we aren’t even in the running for promotion

I know that the players have a little kitty based upon shots on goal off target in training and that Fatawu is the leading contributor. This went into last season when he was ‘good’.
