There is such a thing as too much football.

Really impressed with Aluko. If we had signed him would be raving about him. He looks an absolute unit and very composed both defensively and with his passing.

Golding and Braybrooke disappointed me.  Daka looked like he just rocked up for a kickaround at the park.

I may be reading too much into a dodgy format pre-season game, but based on today I would start Monga or Alves ahead of Mavididi, Fatawua will have to bring his top game to start ahead of Marcal and Evans and I have no problem with Aluko and Wilson-Brown backing up Nelson and Okoli as our centre backs!

... and Daka should never appear in another LCFC squad.

Monga & Fatawu i totally agree.

Probably going to be an unpopular comment, but I actually think the others you have named look very inexperienced to be starting.

Even Alves, who yes I understand will develop,  looked like he constantly did one thing too many. It will all come with experience,  but not sure that experience should be starting for us in such an important season.

Monga is the exception being the only youngster id genuinely be happy to start for us every game.

That's not to say the likes of Alves & Evans dont look promising.

Again, just an opinion.

Aluko and Nelson are starting quality in my opinion. Miles better than Coady or Faes who have started countless times for us. It's between them two and Okoli for the starting places next season if I had to choose.

Edit: Just watching the last bit and Wilson brown looks impressive as well, would rather have him starting that Coady, Faes, Vestergaard as well.

but in fairness they looked levels above whilst some of our more “established” 1st teamers looked as poor and disinterested as last season.

I left after one of the half times, been down the pub, got back,.made and had dinner, and the games STILL on... This is obscene

I know, right. I watched the first 10 minutes, went out, painted my shed, got heat stroke, went in a shower, watched more as I cooked dinner, ate dinner then watched the last 10 minutes. It was insane.

Thats nothing, I watched the first 5 minutes, decided every player we have is crap, then blasted off to the international space station,  spent 6 months up in there, got back and the game was still on, so  joined the match thread for tantrums.

Nice to see Jordan Ayew walk straight through a bunch of children and ignore the requests for photos and autographs completely as if they weren’t there. What a lovely man.

Yet last season he walked down the whole line of fans having photos and signing things.

Well this is 4 hours of my life that I'll never get back.

I've seen about 40 of our players & about 15 of them are absolutely crap & I don't include any of the youngsters in that. We really have a massive problem if we are unable to get rid of some of these senior players that are blocking the route of our very promising youngsters.

However, what frustrates me even more is our style of play. We have so many defenders & midfield players who just play pointless, cowardly 5 yard square or back-passes & are incapable of turning with the ball & driving forward, running at the opposition. Of course, this may tie in with my 2nd paragraph in that they are not very good & incapable of doing it & it has been like this for some time now.

We desperately need a new manager who will hopefully produce an entertaining, attacking style of play

So the first 11 with Coady, as vocal as he is (and I do think you need someone like that) but he was basically saying things like "keep the ball" "make the right decisions lad" "recycle!" - it's sterile play and that has been clearly coached into them. The young lads should be let loose too to just show their talents and not be held back by negative play.

Leuven are also a couple of weeks ahead in pre season.

Can’t comment on that, only what I saw today. Wout Faes was really generous with his time, I saw him going over to people several times and big smiles every time.

I really like the cut of Kingy’s jib.

We definitely need to keep him as I think he could be a good un.

he’ll be the manager when Cifuentes is sacked in 18 months time the day after the January window closes.
