Have him & Jakub met before? Looked like they'd only just been introduced to each other today. Id drop him for Lascelles next game.

Some of the posts on the opening pages are hilarious. Gone from Rolls Royce to a cat D Citroen Xara with an expired MOT in the space of 6 months

Oxford fans loved him last season. Seen a few saying they’ll take him back if we don’t want him lol. Is it another James Justin situation or was he not actually that good for Oxford?

Been a massive disappointment. No point pretending otherwise. I'm saying it as someone who was calling for him to start.

Justin was never as bad as people called him out for. He wasn’t as good after his injury but he was still significantly better than Kristiansen, Thomas and Choudhury at full back. No idea what’s gone on with Ricardo this season but he looks shadow of his former self.

Nelson is an odd one. He can pass a football but his general awareness and positional sense are far from great. He almost needs a stronger leader next to him to talk him through games. Playing him next to Okoli, who is only 24 himself isn’t the answer.

He played 17 games for Oxford in a team that was battling to stay in the league. They won 5, drew 6 and lost 6.

He was out injured for half the season. He played alongside Elliott Moore (Ex Leicester) for half the season, or Mikel Hilek when he returned post injury. Both are a bit older and can maybe guide him though a game a bit. He can clearly pick a pass but if we’d signed him for £15m, he’d be getting the sam abuse Vestergaard gets.

He’s young, still learning and needs a better partner next to him.

Is he overhyped, massively. Then again, so are all of our youngsters. They weren’t exactly tearing up and dominating the Premier League Youth leagues for all the ability they supposedly have.

He’ll be a steady player at championship level I’d imagine. Let’s not kid ourselves and think he’s shown anything above that, after spending two season fighting relegation from the league.

He is a good player, but like most of the team his confidence is completely shot.

He is out of contract at the end of the season, but cannot see him wanting to stay. Next year's team is going to be miserable to watch.

And this year's isn't?!

Hardly been a massive disappointment, took Martin 10 games to even play him, he’s been steady in most games probably MOTM in the last game and now he’s been poor. That’s football, he’ll get better.

The entire defence is a disgrace in fairness.

It has to be said and will be ammunition for those that say you can't blood youngsters in turbulent times. Some will sink and swim, some will learn from it and still prosper, the fact is that for football to exist players have to develop. I am surprised by Nelson's crisis of confidence here, his loan spells gave him a strong base to finally get his chance here but he hasn't yet put together a strong period of consistency.

He looked solid when he first came in when our results picked up in late October but will probably be another academy player that leaves here and improves to a equally as good if not better. It was our current manager who heralded him as a Premier League player, don't forget.

Hopefully he can quickly dust himself down after yesterday, a strong game next Saturday before getting away for a while to recover.

Put Monga into that bracket too. Hasn't looked anything like what we hoped and why would he surrounded by calamity, poor application and total lack of effort or talent.

Many of this lot will leave, go to well run clubs and improve ten fold

In general, he's done rather well for us this season.

Yesterday, however, we probably saw one of his worst games ever.

Got caught completely napping for the equalizer (somehow switched off for a second, or was it the sun?), then the own goal.

Yes, he's young, yes he can only get better. This season, under these circumstances, he better hurry up, though.

Agree with all of this. I’ve been massively disappointed.

I will say though I don’t think he’s been crap the whole season like some have said.  think he was fine when he first came into the side, not amazing just fine.

Quite a few times this season he’ll look completely fine then drop an absolute howler. Bristol City where I genuinely thought he had a good game either side of the penalty incident.

I’d be interested to see how he got on in a more positive environment with a decent partner next to him

funnily enough I thought one of his better games came at LB lol

Th entire defensive personnel and structure is a mess and he is the least experienced of them. He has to take his share of the responsibility of course. But it would also be a lot on his shoulders (and speak massively for him) if he was the one able to take the rest of them by the scruff of the neck and pull them up. It seems he has been dragged down to the level of Ricardo/Thomas/Okoli if anything.

I’m absolutely not a Vestergaard fan at all. I can’t stand him as a player. But Nelson looked much more confident alongside him. I just feel like if we had any of Vestergaard, Souttar or Lascelles fit and at the ability they have, they’d have all been better partners for Nelson than Okoli has.

Needs to become more vocal for me. That first goal for QPR needed him to communicating with the keeper and vice versa

Completely preventable goal.

A few things about the goal. The defender who played the long ball had all the space in the world. Ayew had the opportunity to press him but didnt move an inch. Our defenders played the offside trap, but Nelson got caught napping so seems the attacker was onside. Then there is no comms between Nelson and Jakub - here they both show their inexperience.

Howlers all around.

He's part of a defence that have conceded 33 goals in the 23 games he's played this season (all competitions).

Out of curiosity,  what 'in general' has he done well this season?

I know he's not the cause of our embarrassing defence, but hes as much a contributor to any others within it.

Its that bad, I am looking forward to the return of Vestergaard. Its a flip of a coin as to if he comes back in for Nelson or Okoli.

Both goals preventable just by doing the basics.

Who’s coaching these players

They're not being coached to leave it to each other though are they. There's only so much a manager can do, the players on the pitch have to take some ownership.

Good in general to me means given the circumstances. He's better than Okoli and potentially a better defender than Faes.

Yesterday's game to me was the first so far this season where Nelson royally fvcked up.

He's also scored as many league goals as Winks and Skipp.

I'm not sure we're going to see Vestergaard in a Leicester shirt again until August – my guess is he's out for the rest of the season.

Speaking of which – one could also argue we've had incredible bad luck with injures to defenders this season. Vestergaard, Lascelles (big gamble from the get-go), Souttar, Kristiansen.

Okoli is just ok at defending but horrific at passing, Nelson is just ok at passing but horrific at defending. I would drop both of them and play Hamza there with Lascelles or Vesty. Mind you Hamzas crap as well.

With Jacob, Nelson Thomas  and Okoli in defence we are down without a doubt and relegated next season if they are the defence
