Not a massive fan of people in here calling for Cifuentes to play the Academy products and then getting the hump when they aren't immediately clicking and slagging them off.

I think a bit of patience is merited.

It’s not the not clicking that is the issue. Clicking and being able to “do the absolute basics for a paid footballer” are two totally different things

Does even doing the basics in a genuine professional full paced game take experience?

Shake up the midfield and this game changes up considerably

Skipp and Soumare should never start together again

I think the manager is starting them to give them a fair crack at claiming a place, knowing full well that they've stuck the place out previously. Problem is, neither want to be here. You don't need to be a body language expert to tell!

I don’t think Soumare as a 6 with Skipp and BEK/Alves as 8s works. If Skipp has a role in this team it’s to just sit in the middle and protect the defence, his role looks too complex for him to handle at the moment.

Then we need to see the 10 play more central and closer to the striker, similarly to how BEK did after Winks came on against Wednesday. Alves is drifting too wide and too deep at the moment and I noticed Bilal do the same in the first half on the weekend.

Should give Soumare more freedom and less defensive responsibility as well which I think will suit him.

The football has been awful but some of the “told you so” posts on here are even worse.

When Faes or Jannik have a howler, which they’ve proven countless times that they will, can I post a comment about Okoli or Nelson, as smugly as some have done tonight?

The yellow card seemed to have slightly taken the edge off Monga's game. He needs to forget about it and be brave like he was in the first 20.

I know it is obvious but the drop off from the usual three behind the striker is huge.

Look very rusty and disjointed.

It’s what I expected really. It’s youngsters or players playing because they’re out of form or rusty.  In Hamza’s case he’s not even in his usual position.

It should be a good learning experience, (especially for Monga with the home crowd against him) and reckon they’ve got enough to get through still.

They will have to be much better in and around the box though.

Been some very slap dash passes in this game. Hamza and Nelson have been particularly guilty but it’s been throughout the team. I do think though that the ball is running very slowly on this pitch. Seems to have been very heavily watered and this isn’t helping the quality of the passes. Maybe it’s a purposeful tactic by Huddersfield but tbh it isn’t helping them much either.

Hamza and Nelson have also been particularly vulnerable to the press and need to sharpen up!!

I'm guessing no-one wants to play Sunderland atm, then? :P

Can't imagine Winks is gonna be busting a gut when he comes on when he knows the prize is a drive down from Sunderland to London on a Tuesday night

A positive is we literally only need to up the quality 10% and tempo 10% and we win this comfortably i think. Going for 2-0 Leicester.

Nelson just needs a couple of early touches and one decent challenge and he'll find his game again. Be good to see Alves find some space to see if he can do ought.. difficult when hes being fed slowly by skipp and soumare and then already marked i suppose

This statement could have been made at any point during footballing history.

There is a difference between talking about them playing poorly so far in this game and writing them off already for the whole season though

100% couldn’t agree more, writing them off is daft. The mindset is what’s bothering me, I’m not seeing a team full of players desperate to prove their worth. I’m seeing a lot entitlement thinking they’ll just turn up and roll them over.

That's academy and first team lot.

Find anyone that says they can't be criticised, the post you replied to isn't even saying that ffs

The vast majority of people have been criticising moments which warrant criticism. My point was as an overall comment, if you speak negatively in anyway about academy players, quite often I see the comment not wanting someone to succeed.

It’s an overall statement not just a response to that one post.

Some good minutes, not sure why everyone is writing every youngster off as if to say if you don’t come in under pressure to impress and instantly be amazing your out. Everyone chill. Classic first round cup game, from a team that has done lots of losing in the last year or so. Lots people trying to impress and it becomes disjointed. Some of these players IMO will still work their way into the team still.
