Martin was lavishing praise on Page after the game. If his comments reflect what he genuinely thinks, Page will start on Saturday.

Feels like the dilemma Martin has is he sees both Page and Braybrooke as 8s, and together they may not be defensive/physical enough for one or the other to cover the 6. Particularly in League One. It’s a genuine problem as both individually are more than good enough I just wonder if between them the balance is right.

Yet Skipp can’t tackle and has no in game awareness, and Hamza can’t play a pass. 
 

Without Souttar and Okoli, and a little less messing around the back, we won’t need anymore. It’s not like our defensive cover actually covered.

It's more of a risk to play players like Choudhury and Skipp who aren't technically gifted enough to play possession football.

I'd say that's on Martin though, if we're honest if you move the ball quick enough with 70% possession physicality shouldn't be an issue as the opponent shouldn't get near to the ball really.

As long as we play him as a starter I think that will be the best option for Page. If he signs for them he won’t be a regular starter and will likely be loaned out. United won’t be thinking about what’s best for the player just as the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool. His value is only going to increase. We need to think about player development for the interests of the club alongside the player. Exactly the sort of player and attitude we need.

Best we have seen of him last night by an absolute country mile - still gave it away loads of times but he showed some very very good stuff as well - surely you bring in one experienced midfielder that can play and have 2 of him, sammy and page rotating across all the games - with skipp as a horrible 4th choice if we can’t shift him 

 

showed enough last night to be on the team sheet for next few games to see if he replicate that form - Russel would have absolutely loved his performance
