I've heard on the grapevine he is going to be sacked if we don't beat West Brom.

I’d take a loss to see the back of him.

Can you tell the grapevine if they can do it now?

@Pliskin midfield is certainly an issue which needs rectifying our best combination this season was actually Winks, JJ & Ramsey but we no longer have 2 of those.

Certainly we need to do away with a 10 & go for Skipp/Braybrooke & 2x 8s in Page & JJ if everything else remained the same, just because we are being bypassed so often in midfield.

Going 3 at the back probably just pushes an issue into who plays wide & who has the discipline & legs to get back, I’d be looking at Aluko for 1 spot maybe but we are now benching a lot of names & restricting changes if like for like.

We need a strong forward 🤷‍♂️ if Antonio can be that man.

Marti’s not great but neither is the squad and we don’t have decent replacement options if we are going to start Page & JJ every game for instance.

Beating west brom is a long-term loss if we're being honest.

Monday needs to be short-term pain for long-term gain.

If Carrick is the replacement it's certainly an upgrade imo.

It would be, but he'd have to be backed in the transfer window this month and summer.

Any manager coming in is pointless and is already set up to fail by the board if not.

What happens if it's a draw??? :dunno:

Would be typical of us to sack the manager in the middle of a transfer window, only to appoint his successor a few days before the window closes.

We know exactly how this plays out; manager gets sacked > board take forever to appoint a new manager > new man comes in days before window closes > Glover and Rudkin sign Rejects Re-United on 6 month loans paying sizeable loan fees > window shuts > new manager refuses to play any new signings citing lack of quality > big points deduction lands > club get relegated > loanees go back to parent clubs having played less than 90 minutes > questions asked as to why we didn't sign anyone of notable quality > complete silence from the board > league one kicks off > within 2 months Percy et al. are reporting of further points deductions due to bloated squad, excessive wages, and loan fees paid in the prior year > rinse and repeat until Macquarie or HMRC don't receive payments due and club is placed into administration.

Depends if Brum sack Davies, that'll be a better project for him rather than this sack of rotten spuds

Would be a disaster pretty sure he plays boring possession football

We will probably look at him because he plays the sort football our owners want. Can't help but think the theme is similar to Marti though in that Middlesborough were better once he had left. Remember them beating us 2 years ago then losing to dross.

Personally of the opinion we should be thinking differently and that whilst Carrick might be a bit better, will just be more of the same.

I’d literally just come on to post the same.

I’ve heard if we fail to beat the baggies he’s gone, with Carrick as the favourite to replace him.

There may well be truth in this but it always strikes me as odd when a manager's sacking is seemingly based on a single result.  Given our erratic form we may well beat WBA but if we do it's unlikely that we'll gain any momentum from it as we'll no doubt lose the next 2 away league games afterwards.  Surely they either back Marti in the transfer window (if only with freebies) or they should have sacked him after the Sheff United game? They may have even persuaded more to ignore the boycott if they'd done the latter.

If the club are seriously looking beyond him and the decision lies on the result against West Brom then they might as well cut the losses now and look elsewhere. We are so inconsistent with Marti that I don’t see a drastic improvement soon.

Whatever the decision is though, the club seriously needs to invest in key areas of the pitch to give anybody a chance to be competitive at this level.

Sounds familiar to the Norwich game, when we got a last minute winner which potentially saved Marti. He isn’t good enough and has to go, pulling the odd result out of the bag - like he fortuitously did against Norwich - just delays the inevitable, and it’d be the same if we happen to beat West Brom tomorrow.

If the players know he will be gone if we don't win tomorrow, I am expecting a half arsed performance.
