Vowels Posted 27 January Posted 27 January Skubala is the money ball pick if you like but Alexander is the one they fancy; if we're keeping it league one.
foxer Posted 27 January Posted 27 January It'll be Coleman based purely on the fact that top has heard of him. 1 2 1
Patrick Posted 27 January Posted 27 January (edited) If the rumours about Andy Goldie being the incoming Sporting Director are true and they are planning on involving him in the process of hiring the new manager then I sadly think it could be Russell Martin, who Goldie worked with at Swansea and Southampton. "Working with Russell Martin was a big reason for my coming to Swansea City. The clarity in his vision and his unwavering belief and attention to detail in developing and delivering our style of play has been incredible over the past few months. To have that alignment throughout the club is extremely powerful." https://asd.mimentorportal.com/resources/goldie-reflects-on-his-career-to-date-and-asd-membership Edited 27 January by Patrick 5

That suggests to me they’ll give King as much time as possible hoping he holds the fort so they have more time to make this choice. And if not, look to shore him up with a senior, experienced individual as an interim management pairing. Oh FFS because dragging it out in 22/23 didn’t have any effect did it. F***ing w**k*rs
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 27 January Posted 27 January Chris Coleman wtf Are Alan Curbishley and Mike Newell also on the shortlist? What's Brian McDermott doing these days? 1 3
Vindaloo FOX Posted 27 January Posted 27 January 2 wins and 2 clean sheets for Liam Manning at Huddersfield, I was upset to see him go there, think he's a good manager even though it didn't work out at Norwich for him.

He's been sacked 2 times out of 7 jobs? Lower league clubs? All in the same division we're in bar 1. And in case you forgot we were a strong PL club so obviously we wouldn't have been fishing for 'lower league' managers. Past few appointments have been great though eh? I get it you don't want him but not sure why you're ignoring facts/making your own up, trying to spin a certain narrative straight out of Top's playbook. Time to accept the new reality we're in I'm afraid. 1

ClaphamFox Posted 27 January Posted 27 January (edited) 1 hour ago, davieG said: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/khun-top-leicester-city-strong-chris-coleman-warning-stinks-of/ Frankly disgraceful' - Leicester City board questioned as Chris Coleman update emerges By Declan Harte Published Jan 27, 2026, 7:30 PM GMT This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more… Chris Coleman has emerged as a front-runner to take over at Leicester City following their decision to part ways with Martí Cifuentes. A 2-1 loss to Oxford United on Saturday proved the final straw for the Foxes’ hierarchy, who pulled the plug on the Spaniard, who only took over the first team squad in the summer. According to Football Insider, the former Wales manager is on the club’s radar as a leading option to replace Cifuentes. The 55-year-old has previously worked with OH Leuven in Belgium, who are Leicester’s sister club, giving him an obvious working relationship with the owners. Coleman is currently out of work, but has previously worked in English football with Fulham, Coventry City and, more recently, Sunderland. Leicester urged to avoid Chris Coleman appointment When asked about the possible arrival of Coleman as head coach, FLW’s Leicester fan pundit Louchlainn Martin claimed it would be a disastrous decision by the club, and he has urged them to avoid it at all costs. He believes a move for the Welshman could tailspin into a relegation battle, suggesting that interim coach Andy King would be a better choice to remain in charge of the first team. “The news that Leicester City are considering Chris Coleman does not surprise me in the slightest, but it is quite frankly disgraceful in my opinion,” Martin told Football League World. “It stinks of a lazy bit of managerial recruitment. It sounds like the club just reaching out to people they know and who may be desperate for work. “Jobs for mates, that’s how it smells. A cheap, easy appointment to make. “Look, his managerial career is nothing special. I’m not the biggest fan of Gary Rowett coming in, but I think I would prefer Gary Rowett coming in over Chris Coleman. “I don’t think that’s the right choice to make whatsoever. “That would stink to me of relegation to League One if we were to do that, in fact I would probably stick with just Andy King, rather than bringing in Chris Coleman. “Strongly against it. I can assure you that 95 per cent of the Leicester fan base would be strongly against that appointment also.” Leicester fell to 14th in the Championship table with their defeat to the U’s last weekend, leaving them six points adrift of the play-off places. The Foxes were hoping to compete for promotion straight back to the top flight at the first attempt, but a possible points deduction on the horizon could lead them to worrying more about the bottom three. Coleman’s last role in football was with Greek side Asteras Tripolis, but he was dismissed from his position earlier this month. This is a perfect illustration of the lunacy that can occur when people trust a story on Football Insider. The most important thing to know about Football Insider is that it is purely web-based and has no subscription. In other words, it is very heavily dependent on ad revenue, which in turn means it is heavily dependent on driving traffic to the site (advertisers won’t pay to appear on a site with low traffic). Clicks are everything to Football Insider—without them, it cannot survive. To generate clicks, it has to continually publish stories that it knows will generate interest, and manager gossip stories are perfect for that because fans of manager-less clubs will always be very interested in rumours about who their next boss will be. This need to constantly generate stories means that Football Insider is far more likely to publish speculative and inventive stories than mainstream publications. They need those clicks—and what better way to generate clicks than linking a vacant manager’s position with someone they know will get the fans riled up. Hence above, Football League World have taken the Football Insider story and put it to a Leicester fan in order to generate an outraged reaction—and the fan has duly obliged, creating another story out of nothing. And on it goes… Edited 27 January by ClaphamFox 4

Dont see what your problem is, we have a PE teacher as director of football so may as well get a PE teacher as coach as well. We'll be relying on school kids to play for us next season anyway so makes perfect sense 6

Agreed, in his interview with OPA he did mention the TD and said they couldn’t announce it just yet but soon, so suggests someone already in a role, I think the person will be on garden leave and an announcement will be made in the next of couple of weeks. I am also fairly certain Andy Goldie was ruled out a couple of weeks ago.

Agreed and I would also add he may have offered his services to the club on an interim basis and the leak has come from his side to raise his profile and get his name back out there in the public domain in the hope of securing a gig in league 1 or 2 when the opportunity arises.

It won't have been a surprise to anyone so they had plenty of time to have worked out who they wanted before being left without a manager. If something was close you would have heard whispers by now. My guess would be the new manager announced the day after the transfer window closes.
