He should have been given two more games at the start if we'd been organised. Also the game plan against Newcastle, although full terrorist ball, was a wonder save away from us staying up. He also saw through Ward immediately too.... we need a bit of that right now. He's a good, strong manager, if this is genuinely a strong rumor then i'm on board with it. Especially if a certain someone comes with him! 3 1
LVFox Posted 6 February Posted 6 February (edited) Smith wasn’t good enough, we saw an upturn yes, and a James Maddison penalty away from staying up, but we should have got the points needed with the squad we had. We got absolutely dicked in the cup that year by the coach I’d be after, Jon Dahl Tomasson. Im probably more in favour of Smith than some of the other dross mentioned though. Leicesterpool Posted 6 February Posted 6 February Dean Smith I think seems to be enjoying his job in the states, I think in a interview I watched he liked the flexibility, as the MLS play mainly over the summer months and he then able to return home for the winter months. It maybe difficult to lure him away.

AjcW Posted 6 February Posted 6 February I definitely don't think it'll be a solid rumour, they're slap bang in the middle of pre season with the main season starting in a few weeks

We spent the game desperately needing to win yet seemingly agreed a 0-0 with a side that only needed a point to guarantee Champions League. We had one shot in the entire game. The video below should show the supposed wonder save. 2
teblin Posted 6 February Posted 6 February Its from football insider originally. So hopefully nothing in it. This is what they use to make the Dean smith decision if anything i in it. (excuse bad AI generation) 1
Foxin_Mad Posted 6 February Posted 6 February (edited) Id definitely take Smith over any of the other dross we have been linked with, Christ people were touting bloody Gary Rowett! Smith is a good man manager, and also proven at a much higher level than Rowett. Edited 6 February by Foxin_Mad

hinkfox21 Posted 6 February Posted 6 February Don't think it's going to be smith! I know I have jokes about Neil Warnock, but i can see it being someone like him. Cheap, older and knows the division. Gave up of thinking it could be someone that will push us to the next level!
Nolucklcfc Posted 6 February Posted 6 February I wouldn’t be totally against smith to honest but it would be quite funny if he took us down again.
RonnieTodger Posted 6 February Posted 6 February Tbf to Smith, he got 9 points from 8 games. That would comfortably have kept us up over a season.
Leicesterpool Posted 6 February Posted 6 February Deano not to blame for our relegation tbh, tbh him and John Terry may work this time round.

They are a well organized team who don’t concede many.
Craig Posted 6 February Posted 6 February If we are going after Smith, then I'd like it to be longer than until just the summer. He'd do a decent job in the Championship. 1

MPH Posted 6 February Posted 6 February He’s got a contract at charlotte FC and the owners love him. We’d need to pay compensation to sign him.
Jattdogg Posted 6 February Posted 6 February Smith did a great job considering the situation. Does lightning strike twice though? Take us down both leagues lol. Think he would do well enough to keep us in the championship but I don't see him wanting to step back into our shit hole.

There aren’t many realistic targets who have had the experience of doing that. I’d take more on the job he did at Villa than that at Leicester 2

Look I certainly didn't enjoy it, but there was also the distinct possibility that Newcastle and that crowd could have led to a 5-0 tonking which would have been game over. Just pointing out that we'd have been reflecting very differently if that one shot had gone in (which it really should have lets be honest ) We're also now at the bottom end of the Championship, not the Premier League. Main points, if he was in two games earlier we'd have stayed up. If he comes in now we'll stay up. 1
