You do wonder what the difference was between this match and, say, the First Test.

This England team can be very confounding at times, and the lack of consistency is frustrating.

Predictably embarrassing stuff from the team and bbc coverage, both of whom are carrying on like we've just won the urn back.

Didn't get that sense from TMS, unless I was mishearing things?

Went bed when they were 40/2 and was expecting to wake up for us to be chasing at least 300. Woke up in the middle of the night to my surprise it was a chase of 170 and we’d started well.

After losing the series, you want to avoid the whitewash and I’m glad we’ve done that. More so for them that have travelled.

Serious questions still need to be asked.

I’ve not been at the game today, had tickets for tomorrow. But been on the pub tonight with lots of barmy army. And the overwhelming feeling is of disappointment, despite The England win.
We have a huge sporting event, 92,000+ sold for each of the first three days… People have spent huge sums of money to come out for a once in a lifetime trip and for the second time, let’s be honest it’s been ruined by a pitch.

I’ve never seen so many disappointed England fans after an away win.

Thats two out of four tests that have only lasted 2 days.
It’s just crap, yes we won, but let’s be honest, both here and Perth whoever batted second was always going to win.

Pitches have let down all who travelled and it’s a real shame, that those people couldn’t be treated with 3 or 4 days of high quality test cricket.

Phenomenal win! Shame we weren't playing for the Ashes, but to be there on days 1 & 2 and see our first win in 14 years in Australia was an absolute pleasure.

Yes the pitch wasn't good enough, but its also sad that the modern batsmen has no real desire to adapt. Its just go harder and then hide behind the pitch if you get out. Only way you get long test matches is by preparing roads.

Agree on this. India get a load of stick for this sort of stuff. I really dont think CA do themselves many favours. They bemoan the BCCI for their model and they've produced shit tips for the last 3-4 years as their batting has gone to shit.

Ahmedabad a few years ago they produced a cobbled pavement and it caused mayhem IIRC.

I was at both days, great atmosphere and a lot of fun, but it didn’t feel like test cricket at all. Was hoping ro sit back and take it all in, but it was such a quick game there were no slower periods to enjoy and relax! But still great to be down with the Barmy Army for the start and end of our second innings, and good atmosphere in town afterwards.

I really wish it had been to make it 2-2. I had day 4 tickets here and I’ve only got day 4 at Sydney, so hope it’s a bit of a flatter deck there.

Watched the highlights back and I'm really not having the pitch was *that* bad.

Even the couple that spat up at Labuschagne weren't off a length suggesting anything other than a little bit of bite. Bowlers deserve a bit more credit and the batters a bit less.

Went to the Melbourne City game tonight, must have seen 4 or 5 Leicester shirts at the game - anyone here?

Tom Lawrence ex Leicester hattrick.

Melbourne 2 down at half time, calamitous at the back, no idea going forward - the Leicester lot must have all felt right at home.

Possible controversial opinion here; Crawley appears to get an inordinate amount of flak both here and elsewhere considering he is the top run scorer for England both in the last Ashes series and this one, and his scoring in this series at least has been consistent, rather than feast or famine.

I'm not the guys biggest fan, but there are much more pressing issues than him opening.

Reluctantly agree. He just (rightly) annoys people because of the way he came by a Test berth in the first place and his inability to deal with the technical issue that costs him his wicket in the early overs time after time.
