Think too much is made of managers commanding respect, certainly with us. We've tried all sorts of types & experience and they've all lost the dressing room eventually if not from the off.

You can also command respect in different ways. You don't have to be a Hair dryer type.

He did but he also spoke very well and actually sounded like he cared, he means what he says...like a leader. I like the fact he called out the running stats and asked them to buck up their ideas for the club! Love that.

I so hope the players can help him and the club.

And I think King's approach will all be out treating each other with respect. He'll set out clear standards but give the players the leeway/treat them like adults, to enact that. But if you don't treat that with respect, you'll be out of the team. That's how I imagine it. He'll be firmer than you expect but it's very much going to depend how the players buy into that as to whether he'll have authority or not.

I don’t think Pearson ever lost the dressing room?

Let’s not heap pressure on the lad. It’s highly likely he won’t stray too far from what we’ve seen, just with a bit more running and effort.

I’d list like to see someone like Lorenz upfront, k don’t care if he doesn’t score any goals, because Ayew and Daka don’t, but he certainly won’t amble around the pitch like he isn’t interested, or look like he’s never played football before.

Any manager would lose some of it, especially in a dysfunctional group, at least you would hope and expect so!

He didn't because he recruited players with the same mentality and the same drive, so the dressing room was moulded in his vision, it seemed very important to him, and look a the results.

He got rid of Matt Mills and Beckford, who were are better players at the time. Pearson and Shakey was exactly what was needed after the chaos of Sven and co.

totally see the point you’re making, but wouldn’t put  either Mills or Beckford into the category of ‘better players’ . But yeah, I see your point.

You’re right, or Enzo. But just couldn’t be arsed to specify, applies to everyone else in between though.

I mostly agree but its all a little bit wet lettuce for me.

Its all 5/10. You can't criticise the sentiment but you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Would that honestly be what you hoped for? I wanted to hear him say the performances have been entirely unacceptable?

What do you want from me with this idiot box?

Watching tomorrow hoping for a Kingy masterclass. I don’t expect he is ready yet to be a manager/head coach but I just want him to do well. In all his time here as a player, King never let us down. I don’t think I can remember a game of his where I thought King was shit.

Great youth product who came in and scored an absolute cracker in a team void of any real quality. Carried Sven for a season. Fantastic in League One. Very much part of the Pearson revolution (twice) stead performer when asked in the PL.

He is surrounded by a squad who have and will let us down. You can see by his press conference some of them piss him off as they do a lot of fans. One thing is sure for King tomorrow as he has shown in his playing career for us, it won’t be him who lets us down tomorrow or during his stint as caretaker. I just hope he gets something to help his career which I have no doubt he will work very hard for.

Agree but please can we not pretend he didn't have shit games. In the period Pearson was mis-firing, King was anonymous. And I'm talking those long tier 2 runs without a win.

Turns out that time does indeed affect judgement for some. But not all.

I don’t think saying that was ever on the table.

.In saying that he would be  criticizing the players, and he want them on his side for his possible only game ..

He’d be criticizing the ownersfor appointing Marti  snd, well , probably not wise in his current role and his hope for any future set up, and  he’d be criticizing Marti himself  who is of course the person who gave him his first taste as a first team coach ( he was an u18s coach 10 months ago!)

He’s never going to dig out the players.

He needs them on board to a degree, to get us out of the mess we are in. Truth be told, we are in a relegation battle once the points deduction is slapped on us.

He looks a lot older and more worn just six or seven years on from playing for us.

And he’ll probably look about 90 after a few months in this job!

He looks knackered but speaks extremely well.

That was the best press conference from a Leicester City Manager in a very long time.

Appreciate it won't translate but the lad has clearly focused in the right areas i.e lack of running, that it means something to play for our club, standards need to come from the players etc very impressive I thought

Looking forward to today more than any other game in a long time. Not for any reason other than wanting to give Kingy total backing.

This is someone who gave almost his entire career to serving our club and our fans, he saw it (and won it) all and stayed loyal throughout the bad times.

I don't think I've ever wanted a win for someone as much as I do for Kingy today!

I got to run at Seagrave as part of a charity fundraising and I got to run and talk with Kingy for around half and hour, whilst I will never divulge some of the stuff we discussed out of respect to him. What I can say is don’t be fooled by the fact he is a genuine lovely guy, he is also fiercely driven.

He absolutely recognises the issues at the club, however also is realistic to recognise it isn’t an overnight fix. He absolutely loves the club in the same way you or I do, this is his club. He cares deeply, not only about he club and players but also every other person associated. As we ran round he must have said hello to about 50 people

including ground staff, academy players, academy players, staff and parents.

He has a real way about him, he is the such a decent person, but here is the interesting bit, it made me realise and appreciate just what a consummate professional he is but also the love and respect he has from most people associated with the club, he is inspiring and he is the type of character that I would run through a brick wall for. He isn’t a wet lettuce or a soft touch in fact I would say he is a hugely driven and focused man that is respectful and measured in how he engages with each and every individual.

Given time and our support and backing i honestly believe he will become a top top manager and quite possibly our next Nigel and Enzo.

He is and always will be Leicester City through and through, he absolutely loves our club as we do, let’s get behind him as this could be the start of how we can all reconnect with our club.

This is interesting to hear.

I think we need to give him the time and patience. This isn’t his mess and his legacy at the club outweighs anybody else still connected with it (along with the Birch). He has done more for this club than Aiyawatt and Rudkin as well as all the current players now Vardy has gone.

It does seem some people are already trying to connect him to the mess that we have seen under RVN and Marti. I hope these people don’t look for a reason to pile on King.

I really didn’t think someone was simple enough to need it spelt out that in 300 odd games a player had the odd shit one. I’ll add a disclaimer purely for the simpletons.

Great post.  I think a lot of Leicester fans don't understand his character.

He was one of the main leaders in the dressing room when we were successful even if not playing regularly, our star players respected him.

As a coach he's set standards for the U18s and I know full well he's respected around the club.  He has a great demeanor about him and like you said you'll go the extra mile for this bloke.

I think he has a great career here, this maybe a little to soon for him but I'm happy for him to take us to the end of the season.

He's worked with some top coaches and managers too
