Yeah but when he’s not employed by us it’s easy to shove him to one side and distance him from the squad so it won’t have an impact.

I know Vardy is a bit of a dick and that comes across with this, but all of the players hated Puel. He tried to force Andy King out without ever speaking to him directly, I’ve spoken to another legend of ours personally and asked about Puel, he rolled his eyes and said “that was a struggle”.

People like Vardy need strong management or they just walk all over whoever is in charge.

 

We have had so much weak leadership over the years its no surprise he has been allowed to do whatever he wants.

I always thought Puel would be judged better in hindsight. His recruitment was excellent, when he got a tune out of the team it was equally as good. He built the team Rodgers got some success out of.
 

He has all the traits of an excellent DOF in this country as I suspect his vibe over here didn’t land well with a lot of players.

The thing is, I think things might have turned out differently had he not been managed like that. He won the golden boot after that season, if everyone enforced that I recon he leaves sooner than he did.

He did well for Enzo who is the only strong manager we have had. He can be managed but will walk all over weak ones.

 

I reckon Puel didn't fancy the challenge of him.

There is no doubt that the players of that era were difficult to manage and had too much power but, unlike the recent bunch who failed under four successive managers, they justified the change by improving under the next coach.

 

And let's not rewrite history- Puel was loathed. Many would've been comfortable with him being undermined and forced out.

Its all water under the bridge now, but the fact that some (most?) senior players didnt like it doesnt mean Puel wasnt right. In hindsight I'd say the club leadership got to close to the players and this acted to undermine managers trying ti implement necessary change. Understandable and maybe even really important to the success we had for a while after 2016. In the long run though it came home to roost

I've often thought that for as much as i love Vardy, he wasn't the most positive influences on the dressing room. Especially when he was a senior member of it, he set the example and his example (although it made him, him) wasn't the path we would want our young players following.

He built part of a decent team, we already had about 7 of the starting 11 under Puel. He added Ricky P, Maddison, Cags and Evans didn’t he?

I think this is fair. The leadership group we had was quite similar to the Terry, Lampard, Drogba one Chelsea had where the manager had to have a similar reputation within the game or they had no chance. 

 

Rodgers, as much as I despise what he did in the end, had all the attributes to deal with them to begin with. 

 

The signings were great under Puel but there were some good people around at the time. Not all of that's because of Puel.

 

What I never really understood is Puel was clearly given the instruction from Rudkin to move the title winners on to stop a player vs Ranieri situation again. Then they decided against that with Rodgers.

The obviously attributable Puel signings were Ricardo… good, Ghezzal abysmal and Diabate - whatever the **** that was.

 

Puel wasn’t the only manager that could have “transitioned us to possession football” pretty much 99% of mangers in the late 2010s would have done.

 

To go with the migraine football, bad man management, playing Gray upfront, whatever else - he was a typically lazy, unambtious, King Power (under Vichai, no less) appointment.

 

I’ve also gone back on my word about not getting into it again but our fans have Stockholm syndrome and just can’t imagine it being better

Obviously attributable? Who else do you attribute Johnny evans, James Maddison and caglar soyuncu to? Jon Rudkin? Oh and he also got Tilemans in on loan from his old club Monaco is that one obviously attributable enough for you?
