Jesse Lingard is available too

We should have a look at Wayne Rooney.

Retired 4 years ago but only 40 and used to be a world class player, if we can get him fit he will at least be better than Daka and Carranza

Bloke broke both legs in a car accident and hasn’t played for over a year, which immediately makes him an improvement on what we have.

Reckon he would still be better than Daka with 2 broken legs...........

Of course he was excellent but as we have with Ramsay it is a major risk even short term taking players returning from injury. I would like an up and coming striker such as Ivanovic but can’t see it happening. Can see by next summer not having a single striker at the club everyone is out of contract

People moan just to fit a narrative I swear

Tbh what is there to be positive about with this signing?

I did used to think he was decent, he was quite clumsy at the same time, but everything was in him physically. Strong, decent in the air and had a bit of pace.

But he hasn't played in a year and has been involved in a bad accident so physically he won't have improved. Plus he's 35 (36 before the season ends).

25k a week in the championship for a bloke who is 36 and has not played in well over a year after a car crash!

ok Jon

Yep

that’s what it would take

btw, I reckon he’s scored more at the KP than any of our strikers in the past two seasons

Just laugh at all the doom gloom mongerers on this site, which we have many.  Like Frazer on dads army, wer'e doomed i tell ye doomed.  Love also the

rumours about two legs broken which in reality was one, albeit smashed to pieces in four places.....ouch.

Say this though an ageing Antonio is certainly better than Daka or Carranza.  Even on one leg.

Short term deal, or even pay as you play what's not to like.

I don't dispute this, but if being "better than Daka or Carranza" is the baseline we're setting would we not be better off just playing Evans?

Because John Rudkin, because 4 year deal at £75k of the kings paper a week.

I tend to agree, because we haven't any strikers at the club.  Daka and Carranza are absolutely the pits.  I would love to see youth given a chance.  I laugh because certain posters bemoan the fact Daka is off to Afcon.  I seriously hope he stays there and takes his 70,000 a week wage with him.

I hate this forum sometimes. There’s always a jump to comment grand statements like “everyone always moans”. Mark, I’m sure you are loving hosting forum infrastructure for insightful comments like that…

Why is someone “negative” if they are making connections to trends and data points that make actual sense?

A professional footballer who uses his legs to run has broken both of them and hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for over a year… was on a podcast before that moaning about how he couldn’t get a sniff, when the WHU fans heard that, they pointed out that he was looking leggy and ineffective for them. Add to the fact we have a history of piling deadwood on ridiculous wages

Yet, when you call that out you’re met with pages of “people are negative”.

What do you want, LCFC fans? Do you want Stoke, Birmingham, Bolton, etc? Or do you want your club to actually turn the corner? Because this signing is not showing signs of learning and growth AT ALL.

The other options are Ayew, Carranza and Daka. There will also be limited options for a club bouncing around in mid-table with little prospect of going up.

If we could get him on reasonable wages until the end of the season then it might be worth a punt. If it’s a 3 year deal on £75k per week then we’d obviously be mad to go anywhere near it.

At his peak he was a good player at PL level. So already a better bet than Ayew who was never any better than bang average even at his absolute peak

ASSUME he'd be used as an option off the bench circa 60/70 mins - replacing Carranza on the bench who we would send back, and expect we have the ability to send back after the massive Edouard **** up because for some reason Rudkin needed 10 years experience to figure that out (you're a **** Top for not sacking him.)

However Ayew should also only really be used as a 70 min off the bench wide player so who knows what the **** this is for. I just doubt Antonio would be starting for us. Definitely don't want him blocking the way for Evans / Monga.

We've clearly deteriorated off the pitch so badly that we don't have or need a scouting department anymore. Loans and frees of acquaintances of managers like it's 2005. Embarrassing really.
