It's nothing to do with impartiality. Stringer and Bourne used to be totally impartial. It's all to do with access. They can't afford to upset LCFC and have their access reduced.

They banned Stringer from interviewing them when Pearson was here. Radio Leicester have even less power now. Especially with teams having their own online radio commentary. It's just not worth it for them to upset the club unnecessarily.

Worth it for what? There's only so much the access can be reduced, and at some point it hurts the club more than the local media. It's public radio,.not sky sports.

I rarely listen to Radio Leicester anymore. But I'm sure people who do still listen like hearing the manager and players interviewed. And Radio Leicester likes access to things like pre-match press conferences. I'm not sure, but I think the only thing the club have to give them access to is match commentary.

Like I say I don't really listen anymore so I'm not sure how soft on the club they are. But if they're going to burn a bridge it has to be worth it. And I imagine the BBC in general are worried about losing all match commentary. I bet all these clubs would love to force everyone to have to pay £5 a month to listen to the clubs own commentary.

I'd be interested to know how the listening figures have changed over the years. I used to listen a lot back in the day. But it's so much easier to watch the club now.

You mean the hour where 3 or 4 handpicked passive fans manage to get on air with pathetic excuses for the club?

They used to pick absolute nutters who would complain after virtually every result, win, lose or draw, top of the table or bottom.

How do you think it got it's name, the moan in?

I don't know if Sean from Enderby was the actual guy who'd ring up on the moan in or this current bloke on social media has named himself after him!

RL got their fingers burned with Stringer but refused to move him on out of principal which basically cost all the fans access to the club under NFP, which felt like ages.

They probably tread very carefully these days.

Always thought that Owyn or how however you spell it is a bit of robot. You may as well have that bloke working for the BBC who interviewed Top for LCFC TV.

Not for the first time I thought that Piper was very generous today. It was a poor performance and at no point were we dominant or particularly good

Yeah he sounded like he was sitting massively on the fence when I was driving home. We've played better in the past and he's been 10x more critical of us.

Felt like he was being very careful saying "that was a good interview by Bobby" or "Marti summed that up well"  earlier which is a shame as they should have been calling that **** served up today for what it was @Ric Flairstyle.

They can not say anything about the club. Even Matt Elliot, Taggart have to be so careful otherwise they will lose their jobs.
they can not say how they feel or what they really think. Have to be very careful and always look for positives.
their jobs on the line if they say anything that brings negativity to Top, Rudkin and others.

That's working for the club but we're on about the BBC. Impartial yes, but impartiality doesn't mean you hide away from the tough questions.

When we won the league they were happy to dicesct it and heap praise on everyone.

Now it's going to pot they need to get to the bottom of why and ask the right questions.

I don't understand.  If there are rules of impartiality why are they broken by (a) reporting the concerns expressed by many fans and (b) asking questions of the club?

Eh? Obvs I’m not saying Beeb impartiality means they can’t report criticisms. Clearly they can and do. It’s more about how far they can go in attributing blame.

A Beeb local station can’t editorialise in the same way a fan podcast or forum can. They can report that fans are angry about ownership, delayed payments, dogshit board etc, but they have to give the club a right of reply and avoid asserting wrongdoing unless it’s clearly substantiated.

When the club won’t engage, that naturally limits how direct things can be on air. KPFC have a long track record of restricting access or freezing out outlets they feel are criticising. RL are shitting themselves when they rely

on access to managers and players.

The comparisons to something like BSLB doesn’t wash. One is regulated public-service journalism, the other is opinion-led fan media. Ideally the club would be more accountable and engage. But obviously not.

They rely on a WhatsApp group for fan opinions and it's heavily dominated by those more aligned to the BMA. I'm in it and am probably guilty for not providing voice notes they can use for broadcast as that's where the majority of their fan voices come from.

After a few bevs, I've generally shared my opinion in there, much to the disdain of someone like Graeme Smith from Foxes Pride. One of my favourite interactions came after the "rudkins gonna die" chants, where we all critiqued it but I outlined how giving it more air would enable those singing it. Graeme berated me before going on RL to say how surprised he was that exactly what I said would happen, happened.

However, that chat is dominated by the likes of Graham Brock, Kate and Lox from Blue Tinted who have generally belittled anyone who has an opinion more aligned to foxes talk. I don't blame Owynn for this but GB in particular has bullied a couple of people out of that chat and ultimately others are seemingly tired of trying to interject.

That said, I look forward to Lox's response here rubishing what I've said because Chairman Mao knows best.

Hey jacky boy! As you predicted, I am here😂

I think you make some very good points and I agree with you and many other foxestalk members more than you think☺️ I just don’t agree on everything

hope you had a nice Christmas😙💙

Then a good broadcaster or journalist finds a way round it. The club only has so many routes to reach the fans.

I'll be honest, I'm in disbelief at some of the people you have on. Each to their own. I won't, and I'm sure many won't listen based on that. Sitting on the fence for max views. 👍

Interesting way of looking at it! Suppose whichever side of the fence you shit, there will always still be someone with a problem with it!

I also sit there sometimes and think “wtf is this person talking about”. But anyone can come and have their say, we don’t ban people from speaking in the platform just because they might see things differently than me/us

BBC Stoke are prepared to pose worthwhile and tough questions to under fire Port Vale manager Darren Moore.

Heaven forbid that BBC Leicester take the same approach when interviewing Marti post-match.

I don’t think they can ban the BBC as contractually they are allowed to be there due to the ties with the EFL.

However, I guess they can not allow them access to other stuff.

I am really surprised more people / media outlets aren’t asking questions at this point.

Impartiality is not the point. No fair minded person could witness what's happening and think all is fine. Pipes' analysis is brilliantly sharp, we are very very lucky to have him.

But what is disappointing is that RL seems incapable of getting beyond official club output and analysis of individual matches.

Where we have a right to feel let down is their complete failure to get to the bottom of the wider, more significant issues.

What is really going on with Winks/Soumare/Faes? Who is this new CEO? What is the truth about the club's finances? Whats the real story about the delay in paying December wages? What is the thinking behind/ timescale of, the appointment of DoF? What will Rudkins new role be?

You may not be able to get official information from the club on this stuff but someone must know what's happening...use anonymous sources - get it out there...

Why not set out to interview every manager since Ranieri on the way the club is run and how it compares to other clubs? It's information we need not more opinion..

It’d make a good Panorama episode

They’ve got strict impartiality guidelines to adhere to and the football club have a history of becoming upset with media if they feel criticised. RL do a decent enough job with this in mind IMO.

Impartiality works both ways to be fair. For example, opposition fans like that QPR fan last week are impartial in that they are observing from the side without a connection to Leicester City but he was able to point out the shambles we are.

I personally don’t think asking some tough questions, or pointing out where a spade is a spade so to speak, is not impartial. It would just be balanced.

Properly insightful cheers.  Didn't realise there was a 'closed shop ' Whatsapp group but makes sense with the same names coming up each week
