They're getting plenty of player interviews but they're stunningly unrevealing

Most players will be restricted on what they can say or want to say not to upset their employer manager etc...this is not exclusive to us by the way.

Also, most players don't seem to have much personality these days which doesn't help.

Do you even know why they banned Stringer?

Yeah cause he used to annoy Pearson. Those interviews when we lost became quite funny/awkward listening to be honest. It did become personal, and tbh I didn't really blame Pearson for getting annoyed.

Impartiality is not the point. No fair minded person could witness what's happening and think all is fine. Pipes' analysis is brilliantly sharp, we are very very lucky to have him.

But what is disappointing is that RL seems incapable of getting beyond official club output and analysis of individual matches.

Where we have a right to feel let down is their complete failure to get to the bottom of the wider, more significant issues.

What is really going on with Winks/Soumare/Faes? Who is this new CEO? What is the truth about the club's finances? Whats the real story about the delay in paying December wages? What is the thinking behind/ timescale of, the appointment of DoF? What will Rudkins new role be?

You may not be able to get official information from the club on this stuff but someone must know what's happening...use anonymous sources - get it out there...

Why not set out to interview every manager since Ranieri on the way the club is run and how it compares to other clubs? It's information we need not more opinion..

Excellent post.

But this would be journalism. I think OPA sees himself as more of a commentator than a journalist.

Properly insightful cheers.  Didn't realise there was a 'closed shop ' Whatsapp group but makes sense with the same names coming up each week

FWIW I think it was set up with the best intentions but the consistent enablement of BTG folk to laugh at or talk down on opposing opinions is exhausting.

It's the regularly covered with "fantastic interview OPA, great questions" despite most questions going unasked.

Incredibly funny in hindsight that arguably our greatest manager had to spend 15 minutes every week being grilled by a man whose previous claim to fame had been being sacked on the Apprentice for trying to charge full price for half a pizza.

Yeah the whole squad and staff were wrong.

I think the criticism of Radio Leicester is harsh. They give Pipes air time and he’s very honest. Says it how it is and doesn’t hold back. The only reason he’s not on more is because he doesn’t want/need to do it full time. Mike Stowell is also very honest about the state of the club.

Don’t forget Owynn was appearing on LCFC TV in pre season. You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. Far too cosy with the club, in it for his own glory rather than to be a proper journalist it seems.

I like Owynn but unfortunately I do agree with this

Been listening to RL during games recently, probably to give myself some form of actual entertainment. Piper had a good 20 minute rant at FT last night, as much as someone can working for the BBC, defo didn’t sit on the fence.

Good to hear.

That's why he seemed to be reigning it in later when I got back to the car no doubt.

Piper's a star to be fair, been consistently calling out the players and club for years now, right back to the tail end of the Rodgers fiasco.

I remember he was supposed to be leaving RL a couple of years back but he's still here, and for good reason - he cuts through the egg shells the rest of the presenters (understandably) walk on to maintain their relationship with the club since he's freelance and can get away with calling a spade a spade. He's the only reason I and many others still listen and I think they know that.

I never listen to it as I've said elsewhere because I find it largely pointless listening to highly filtered content but I did think Piper came across pretty well at the BSLB live shows. I wasn't sure about him but think I've come to rate him in the long run and particularly if this is true.

I'm sure if my memory serves that he said something at that show about how the club are funny with him now - probably because he didn't tow the line. Which is very on brand.

I wish more and more did it and more just retaliated by exposing how ****ing ridiculous they are.

If you're interested, my contributions to that group are generally "well this is ****ing shit" and sharing pictures of me on the way to a game looking pissed off .... 🤣🤣

Stowell much better than I thought he'd be.

A reasonable number 2 to Pipes

Again today focused on only the pitch side activities as if they have no connection to the running of the club. A number of fans I know have reached out to the station to expand the controlled post march narrative,.no reply.

Our local  "journalists", apart from Matt Piper are part of the problem.

When I was in University Alan Young let me interview him and I couldn't put it out on socials in the end because he doesn't exactly hold back on all kinds of subjects.

On the ownership, he said he'd been pulled aside on multiple occasions to never criticise the owners after saying a bit too much. I doubt anything has changed and the fact it is the closed shop it is now allows them to control that narrative.

Doesn't really help that Owynn started off doing these small fan channels so he just gets his friends from them on. It hardly represents the fanbase as a whole. Majority of fans can't really stand anyone on them. They get about 80 views a video and rely on clickbait views. More importantly to the BBC, they're all still happy clappers for KPFC.

To be fair Owynn and Jack regularly have me, Jake and Jord on and we are very critical of our club and owner. They just won't necessarily go in on them themselves.
