That interview really exposes Top. Naive, and weak.

He didn’t even seem to know Marti would be getting sacked, THE OWNER OF THE CLUB.

I wonder if they had a meeting, Marti said I need backing in the window, club said we can’t do that so they sacked him. That’s the only logic I can apply to this without any sources.

OPA didn’t even ask hard, pressing questions and yet he still came across as utterly incompetent and lost.

You can't go around tell the world someone is sacked before you tell the actual person.

Then why agree to the interview before he's been officially sacked? He's somehow made himself look even more incompetent.

It's blown my mind that the owner has said about backing the manager when anyone with any interest in football or LCFC specifically, knows Marti was going to get fired today. It's a terrible look.

Because it was pre-agreed.

That is not at all what I’m saying. He seemed like he didn’t know at all. Could’ve easily said something like “a decision has already been made” if he did. Whether that’s to stick or twist.

I mean maybe he shouldn’t be doing an interview before making a major decision anyway…

Sorry I can't see previous posts, can I just get this right - the communications director has been contacting fan podcasts?

Would also like to know this - have heard a few comments along these lines, but nothing beyond that

You can't do that if you haven't spoken to the person.

He deserves a beating for a lot of things but you are nitpicking.

He clearly struggles in English. As others have said he is naive and his optimism is more than a touch delusional.
My overall impression is his heart is probably in the right place but he just doesn’t project one iota of competence or confidence that he can turn things around and certainly not if he retains loyalty and trust in Dudkin.

This short interview confirms all my worst fears that he is not up to it.

Based on what exactly? He's down everything that would suggest his heart is not in the right place and it's all about his ego clashing with his complete naivety.

Then he should have already spoken to said person if that’s the excuse we’re using. It’s not like he couldn’t have cancelled this interview to prioritise more pressing matters.

I mean he literally goes on about backing the manager 30 seconds prior.

To me it comes across as very naive, I mean the whole interview does to be honest. In no way am I saying he should be announcing the sacking during that interview but it very much came across as though he himself either didn’t know or couldn’t make the decision without everyone’s approval. Just not a strong leader like his father, it isn’t his fault, everyone is different, but if that’s the case he needs to identify that in himself bin off the yes men around him.

My impression from what I heard, nothing more. I’m speculating, is that alright with you 😬

Can confirm we’ve been contacted before, but it wasn’t the communications director.

we’ve also never been ‘censored’ as such, but we’ve been given examples of why the club find it difficult to work with fan channels and podcasts.

What comes across is Top is more a fan and less an owner, there's so much optimism that things will get better but he doesn't make it happen enough.

He delegates the management and sets the vision, and that's about it. The contrast between him and someone like Tony Bloom is wild - he has to stop being loyal to the people around him (who appear to take advantage of his confidence) and make the changes, getting modern, high quality people in the positions rather than dinosaurs like Rudkin. If not, he has to go.

Not sure on this take.

I wouldn’t even say he is like a fan. He doesn’t care. He is absent. The optimism you talk about it propaganda to deflect attention. And egotistical arrogance as well.

As for delegates management. It seems well understood that things don’t happen without his say so. So if he is signing off on things (between months of being absent), it doesn’t really suggest delegation. It just looks that way as he doesn’t have a club what he is even going to do himself as he can make a decision!

Fair enough, but either way you look at it, he needs to be more involved or sell up.

What the hell was going on there? I bunkered down for the 30 mins and with some of the worse editing I've ever witnessed it cut to Matty Fryatt out of the blue. Learned absolutely nothing as normal, only cementing the Top hasn't got a clue.

Hilarious when he kind of backed Marti in it too!

The one thing I could possibly take from it is it sounds like we might be able to muster a few million for a striker, which is annoying as there's value out there and we're most likely going to blow it on a Jordan Ayew type.

I'm not sure what the rest of the interview holds, but it doesn't look good because if the team have gave us that 1/3 of the interview and that's meant to wet our appetite for next bits then I can imagine it's going to be s**t.

Owynn again shying away from the real questions that could be delivered in a way that isn't too personal - such as "some may say/ask that.."  but no, same old rubbish questions that we are only going to get answers that we learn nothing from.

Oh yeah I agree there. If anything, I just thought those two points given him too much credit!

But he wasn't being evasive as you would expect anyone to do in that situation. He came across like he genuinely did not plan to sack the manager and expanded on his comments to suggest he needed more support etc... This along with the fact that the club was briefing journalists all morning that Marti wasn't going suggest that Aiyawatt had his mind changed at the subsequent board meeting.

Strange interview with Top. Perhaps he had rehearsed what message he was going to provide but little hint that Marti was going to be sacked or realism that we were not going to get to the play offs.  There was no suggestion that no money was available although PSR mentioned  but other sources say loans only. Matty Fryatt got it right not only management but club issue really worried about the total lack of direction moving forward.

Matty Fryatts comments after Saturdays defeat was wholesome to hear as a fan.

Straight to the point, what we are all thinking and no PR Filter.

And this is from an ex-player I don't think many of us would expect to have such a strong affinity with the club. About as damning as it gets

Of course that's ok? I was simply asking why you've come to that conclusion. You don't owe me an answer at all but you're reasoning is basically 'because'.

If we're being really kind to Top, he's just incredibly naïve, ignorant and gullible. But the reality is, there are countless examples over the past few years where he's shown that he is not interested or it's all about his ego, and next to nothing that shows he actually cares. The fact you can't substantiate why you think he does care is testament to that.
