I’m told he’s having a medical at Palace today. This info comes from a close friend of his. No links so take it with a pinch of salt until this story breaks properly.

Classic chinese whisper

more likely he having a medical on his torn hamstring at a specialist that works closely with palace.

Considering he's injured currently that'll be an interesting medical.

Presumably we activate the buy out clause and then immediately sell to Palace with at least a £20m mark up.

Well he’s going to struggle to pass a medical with a hamstring injury that’s going to keep him out until March. Plus, we have him on a season long loan with an option to buy. So I’d say this ‘friend’ of his is having you on.

Thought it was his back from carrying the team for the first half of the season.

If we have the option to buy in the loan deal how would this work to be sold to Palace mid season?

January break clause from Rennes? Which would make the option pointless…

It’s clearly not true.

Only way it’s possible is a monumental PSR fiddle. Which given it’s palace might not be beyond the realms…

The rumour is bollocks but an injured player can still pass a medical

It isn't a pass / fail situation, more of a risk assessment

I suppose that's what happened when we signed Cannon

I've told people this a lot on here, think it was the ex Watford doctor I heard talk about failing a medical not actually being a thing.

Did this close friend know you're a Leicester fan and decided he just wants to hurt you? 👀

If we lose out on JJ it’ll be as bad as the time we missed out on Lookman he went on to be a £50m+ player that Rudkin Fuched up again by not signing him !!

A hamstring injury wouldn’t make you fail a

medical. He will be fit to play again in a few weeks.

Medicals are basically risk assessments and are usually failed on the chances of a recurrence of a really serious injury or something underlying.

I think it's worse to be honest.  I wanted Lookman like most did, but given his best position was also filled by Barnes his signing wasn't anywhere near as essential as this would be. JJ is our best player, Lookman wasn't close.  The drop off from JJ to whoever fills those shoes is vast compared to Ademolas absence.

Didn’t Marti say there was a plan for the James transfer in January?

The plan - do nothing.  It's not a good plan, but it's a plan.

Fine, but it was still a daft fake rumour to post.

Don’t let facts get in the way of your rant against Rudkin.

50m+?????????

When exactly was that?

It's the lack of facts I'm calling you out on, when did Lookman get transferred for in excess of 50m?

I totally agree about the DoF being inept.

We're still not spending a dime, I would assume that the "plan" is something to do with the new accounting period resetting and allowing us some breathing room to make the signing with the fee.

So so risky though, allowing other teams in his ear for another 5 months or however long.

in 2024 he won African footballer of the year, scored a hattrick in the Europa League final against Xavi Alonso's super team and finished 14th in the Balon d'Or ranks.

He was sold yesterday for £30m after a quiet 2025 so I don't think it's too outrageous to say that he would have been worth £50m in the summer of 2024.

Yep Atalanta have held on to him too long and lost value, he was easily a 50m player in the summer after the above and PSG pursued him.

He was the year when he had an amazing season can’t remember where he went but he was following that season being touted at the price !
