Then that’s fair enough he’s miles better than any other CM we have at the club and it’s been an absolute honour to watch him play this season,. I think we’ll sign him and then sell him in the summer, but I can’t be angry at him… his trajectory is on the way up and we are not . So fair enough. 3

We coild i suppose agree to a loan with an obligation the summer after.

He would do well there. For us, it'll be devastating. When he leaves, we have no one to replace him. No one to carry this bunch of unlikeable and soggy wet wipes through the season.

So what is it, a player has to be at a club for a full season between signing permanently and leaving on a permanent deal elsewhere?

goose2010 Posted 18 January Posted 18 January He is a massive Birmingham fan, I doubt he would fancy a move to Villa. He will have a lot of options in the prem at the end of the season. 4
Md9 Posted 18 January Posted 18 January It’s a sad situation because he is someone we should build our team around but unfortunately we probably can’t afford him never mind the team to build around him. .

Do other clubs have fans who point out players 'who are too good for them' and should leave for there own betterment? It does come up from time to time.. a lot when players are linked to us 'Why on earth would he sign for us?' I find it strange. 2

But if we signed him (ha) this window, surely by the summer it is no longer a bridge transfer/same window and could be sold for a profit? Unless the fact the loan doesn’t end until the summer is a factor.
Mickyblueeyes Posted 18 January Posted 18 January He deserves better than us and at the very least we’ve played a part in getting him a decent move in the summer. It will be years before we see a player of this quality again. 4

If they are good then the better clubs should be hoovering them up, even if they end up wasting away on the bench. James is still young, and he's done well but not hit the heights or consistency that KDH did for us in the Championship. But he's one of the first names on the teamsheet and no matter what he will be learning from his time here. Wouldn't it be lovely to be saying that he is the perfect choice to spearhead the next gen Leicester city, where we focus on bringing academy players through and youth, rather than dross like Ayew, and football tribute acts like Riccy P has become. But no - he's too good. Buy him, make him captain, and give him the responsibility to spearhead our future on the pitch. This will then pave the way for a big money move for him in a few years where he can kick on the rest of his career. 2
splinterdream Posted 18 January Posted 18 January We've just got to hope that he's pre agreed to sign for us in the summer should we take up their offer 1

Either way though, I would be absolutely astonished if he was with us come next season. Just can't see it.
les-tah Posted 18 January Posted 18 January Hes a young lad and might want stability back in England again. Yes were rotten from the top down at the moment but he has settled in and just hope we have some how sold a long range plan* of the club to him and next season is full promotion chase with him being at the centre of it all. *long range plan - god knows what this would be but rudkin probably lied about having one. 1
BKLFox Posted 18 January Posted 18 January 11 hours ago, Vindaloo FOX said: Heard a horrible rumour, Villa are keen on him Ok Q the next 15 pages where the forum whips itself into a frenzy about missing out on him because we are so inept and we get repeated “well I wouldn’t blame him, far to good for us etc etc blah blah…” He’s 21 ripping it up in the championship of course teams will be looking at him but currently he doesn’t make Forest’s starting 11 let alone Villa’s fcol. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and support/guidance by his dad, I’m sure which ever team he decides on in the summer it will be for playing reasons and not for money or to warm the bench of some team where he’ll get cup and the odd league game. I can see him signing for us regardless of us staying in the championship, he’s aware he’s 21 and his current limitations & will work on them with us and we’ll be selling him for a good few quid in a few years time when he does go to a top 6 team when he’s good and ready.

He won't be in the champship next year, not a chance

Also, as a team, if you want to be better, you need some players who are better than most you already have!
Fox 4 Life Posted 18 January Posted 18 January We have a 5m option, of course we take that up, even if its just to sell for profit.
Ric Flair Posted 18 January Posted 18 January Reminds me of when we had Fulop on loan, head and shoulders our best player in a horrific season/era.
StanSP Posted 18 January Posted 18 January We need him more than he needs us, and the imbalance is heavy to one side. He'll be a decent player in the PL fairly soon. Definitely won't be with us beyond May.
