Best player for what they've gone on to do. Kane.

Best player for what they've gone on to do for us.

Huth.

Best for what they did solely in the loan period.

Dyer.

Huth is the correct answer.

We simply would've gone down without him and we couldn't have won the league without him. He was so important to our greatest moment.

Kane for the player he's become though, not what he was for us.

Peter Weir and Nicky Cross were the shrewd, clever sort of loan signings we thought Pleat was going to deliver time and again.

Alas,.both left at the end of their half season loans and Pleat went doolally

A long time ago, but were they loans or signings? Both were quality players

Peter Eastoe in 83-84. Newly promoted to the old Division 1, with about 2 points from 9 games before he arrived. Great ball control, back to goal. We stayed up with games to spare

Mike Galloway in the mid nineties. He only played a handful of games for us before the Leicester curse crocked him.

But he was an absolute menace.

Obvious ones aside, I thought Kyle Naughton was the standout during Sven’s loan rampage

Great shout. Amazed he didn't establish himself for a bigger club

Nathan Dyer - without him getting himself knocked out against Villa that time, we would never have won the league.

Huth.

Izzet.

Jordan James.

Not the best ever loan but I remember Paul Kerr in 1993/94. Loan swap from Port Vale with David Lowe going the other way. Scored a couple of crucial goals in wins over Portsmouth and Sunderland in the run-in to help us make the playoffs.

honorary mention to Mike Galloway who I remember being great for the short time he was with us (maybe just a 1 month loan?).

It was worth having him here just for the fight he had with Duncan Ferguson at Filbert Street.
