Should have kept Marti tbh. He was rubbish but at least he got the odd win now and then

I'm sure had Rowett managed to have more than 3 starts out of James he'd have picked up more results as well

Last 3 games we really should have won with the opportunities we had.

Quite a contrast to absolutely robbing points in games with a woeful performance and James/Fatawu worldie.

Mad to think what this squad is being paid, and the guy responsible gets a nice promotion.

The idea that Skipp is the better option than Winks and plays the ball faster is more than fanciful. He’s a passenger. Wall passes, hides on the pitch and we score when he gets hooked when we are no longer playing one man down in the absolutely key area of central midfield.

He runs harder. This is Championship football. Work harder, win the second ball, get on the transition

It’s fanciful thinking winks actually affects the game in this system. He just slows it up

Total coward today in his approach to the game.  Afraid to make subs until too late. No imagination, no plan B or C.  Just the same as it has been all season

Don't want to see him here next season.

What's he actually achieved? I'd be questioning. Top needs to put his big boy pants on and start listening to results rather than those around him if he wants  to stay up.Now is the time to surround himself with some different people and work out a way forward.

Was ok with him getting the job because to be honest the other options were very limited, however 1 win in 9 is horrendous.
No idea who we get next to get us out of League 1 after possibly another points deduction.

Let's just face facts. We are not that great (understatement). What are the consistent issues? It is not the manager. It is the whole stinking set up which has recruited an over paid and by and large playing disinterested playing staff. The teams.around is have one thing we don't....guts and desire. We will get what we deserve.

I’m not totally blaming Gary but again another manager who don’t help himself.

Picks same team

same formation

same style of play

he’s made us a bit harder to beat with the draws at the start of the season would of been loses.

We’re are an absolute car crash the better this season finishes the better if we do somehow manage to stay up ( don’t think we will ) then expect the same next season in this division.

ive had a little thought go round my head 😂 we go down, Bham sacks Chris Davies and we appoint him.

Skipp doesn’t work harder. Winks tracks back, covers the full back and never hides from the ball. Skipp hides from the ball.

1 win in 9 under Rowett and 1 win in last 15. It’s a miracle we are not already down given that awful run.

Today was a very, very bad day. Had to be a win against them and we couldn’t manage it. My optimism that we are going to survive fully collapsed today sadly

Hes found himself in goalscoring positions in both the last 2 games. Now whilst he's fluffed them both, he's not in those positions if he's hiding.

He’s fluffed them mate. He hides whenever there’s potentially a risky pass that he might receive. He wall passes, rarely plays on the turn, lets anyone else take responsibility.

Some people in life are winners. This guy is not. Setting up not to lose against the worst team in championship history is pathetic. He has instilled a losers mentality into this team when they needed a lift. Woeful.

Sorry disagree, Skipp has been head and shoulders above Winks who has been nothing short of a disgrace for the majority of this season, regularly downing tools and when he can be half arsed to turn up, just wants to spend the majority of the game slowing down possession and playing lots of one/two’s with the defenders. Pass completion stat packer.

Roy Hodgson has more wins than him in a week, GR has managed in 9 games, Hodgson 2 the man that lost to Iceland.

The laziness of doing the same thing and not trying anything differently tactically continues.
Him, Cifuentes, Ruud and Cooper had the same approach of that’ll do and not even try to do something different during a match when clearly it isn’t working.
When Rowett does it is often too little to late.
An Oxford reject who would rather set up not to lose rather than going out to win.

Nope. Oliver Skipp is the modern day Gareth Williams. The game passes him by. Winks plays on the half turn, plays the ball forwards, has some creativity. Skipp has no creativity and isn’t good enough defensively to get away with that lack of creativity. The very worst thing about Skipp is he hides from the ball.

Why are they all doing it though?

Are they receiving instructions from Top/Rudkin? Are we only ever going to employ yes men?

I can't believe we haven't changed it up more in the past few games.

Even if they are it’s the simplicity of playing 2 up front if you’re behind in a game.
Granted the options available are shit but at least try it during a match.
1 win in 9 in this league is disgraceful.

You mean just positionally or in terms of players as well?

I would have changed players, probably Mavididi or one of the CB's just to shock the team into action and provoke a reaction. Pretty much the entire first half just drifted by. I suppose we did have some chances like the Skipp opportunity, but an intricate 4231 needed to be thrown out of the window after 1 minute and 11 seconds when we went behind.

If you're thinking "but it would damage Mavididi's confidence", that guy is already beyond saving. I make that 16 games now without either a goal or an assist. I almost punched my monitor when he tried that outside of the foot shot.

You’ve really got it on for poor Olly haven’t you! 😀

He doesn’t hide. If he did then he wouldn’t have been running through to support Daka against Preston to be in a position to have that chance . He wouldn’t have been in the box today 1st half, had a lovely first touch to take the ball inside the defender ( but I guess you’ll say that was a fluke mis control) , hit a strong shot which commentators said brought a good save  from their motm goalkeeper, and wouldn’t have tried and scored that overhead kick a while back.

Both Winks and Skipp have failed to deliver consistently over the whole season. A weak midfield , crap defence , and our style of play, has caused our downfall.

The guy is clueless, he's had the advantage of seeing what doesn't work for 3 quarters of the season yet chooses to do exactly the same.

His post match interviews are repeat repeat... He doesn't even talk a good game & you get the feeling that he's not bothered whether we stay up or not.

I'm thinking that would be the excuse Rowett would use for not doing it!

Not just Rowett though is it? Taking a player off before half time is one of the last 'well, it's just not done' moves in football. Seen as a direct and (I think more to the point, very public) dressing down by a manager. Only having 3 subs obviously a factor in that until recently as well. But yes, sod it - it's about winning  the game and wasting 30-50 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday to be 'nice' is clearly daft. Having said that...

In the first half Mavidi had (for me at least) even more exasperating company - I was more irritated by Winks and Mukasa. Would be interesting to see the reaction to Rowett taking off an 18-year-old Man City loanee after 20 minutes, however poor he'd been...

(not a general defence at all, but I think that "outside of the foot shot" which went ended up going in a straight line to their keeper was a poor attempt to curl/fade a short cross for a Daka who was running towards the near post)

When appointed, I thought GR was quite a pragmatic hire and would prove to be a shrewd one.

He’s improved us in some ways, but no where near enough. Thankfully we haven’t committed to a long term contract (although inevitably we will)
