This is my 9th relegation.

Trust me I know when we are down.

I called it at Brighton away in Brendan's season (4th Sept) and last year we never made any changes to give us a chance of even entertaining staying up

There was a whiff of relegation a few weeks ago it's now a stench

I hope I'm wrong but I very much doubt I am

Every time I think we might be okay we throw in another awful performance.

1 win, 3 draws and 2 losses from the last 6 isn't too bad for a team at the bottom end but it's that inability to take enough belief from a win to look good in the next game that bothers me. Really don't know where we're landing ATM. It's not as hopeless as last year but it is pretty awful.

if we go down surely Fuch would be ideal manager for a rebuild of the squad given what he achieved at Newport with no money, but if we were to stay up would the Championship be a step too far for him. In a way relegation might be a better option and new owners too

I've been going way too long and just know ...... I knew weeks ago

Not as bad as last year is just making a comparison as to which is the brownest turd

I really hope I'm wrong. I have been wrong before I think it was 1974 ..... thought we were certs for the cup

Should have got him instead of leaving it with King

To take you at your word :) that's some record! The days of Worthington, Weller and Glover, Sammels and Birchenall in midfield. Perhaps unlucky to lose to Liverpool in the semi-final replay; Shilton wearing a white shirt which  was controversial at the time.

Couldn’t agree more - this lot quite simply don’t has the ability or the attitude to change it

I'd be interested to know if you had this feeling during the great escape?

If so, when did you change your mind??

Thing is we deserve it and it is was easily avoided. All I can think is Top seen ok about it because Rudkin is still here. It won’t change until that happens.

I'm still pissed off that we finally made some signings but have used 1 of 4 regularly. Another waste

And the signings we made in Jan, donkeys that aren't good enough like Richards and Aribo, have all but banished Page, Aluko et al to the Unders again.. What a way to run a club!!!

Question .... if we are in league 1 ..... are we expecting a mass fall in season ticket sales ... would one be necessary as seats will be readily available... and what it the average cost of a match day ticket in league 1 ?

There's been 2 great escapes - 1991 / 92 and 2014 / 15

1991 / 1992 we looked as though we were going down but we could score goals and had a lot of players who you knew were giving their all - Walshy, James, Rooster, Wright etc so I knew we had a chance and I thought it would go to the wire which it did.

2014 / 2015 - It was probably the away game at Spurs which I think from memory we lost 4 - 3 - If you can score 3 goals at Spurs back then I still thought we had a chance but it did look bleak I'm not going to say I didn't think we were down driving back from White Hart Lane because I did

The next game Vs West Ham thought in how we played, the fight of the team and how the crowd responded I came away thinking we might have a glimmer and when we won at West Brom and I was driving back on the Birmingham Road and I could still hear our fans in the stadium I definitely thought it was on

Other times 77/78 doomed, 80 / 81 - Too inexperienced a team, 86 / 87 - not good enough, 94/95 - not good enough, 2003/2004 - made of straw, 2007 / 2008 - Colchester game I knew we were down, 2022 / 2023 - Brighton away - the attitude of the players, whole squad and the shite Brendan had been banging on about I knew there as no stomach for the fight, 2024 / 2025 - Absolutely crap - we looked a poor championship team in the premium league which is what we were - we've obviously now dropped down another level.

Im not sure how many relegations I’ve witnessed, going back to 1977 but the last 3 (I’m including this season) have been truly dismal.
The one under BR was entirely self inflicted by the manager sulking and sabotaging us by playing Ward and Soumare. That squad should never have gone down

Last season was probably expected however we made it worse by the ineptitude of our transfer dealings and choice of managers, we never gave ourselves a chance. That long period without a goal at home was dismal.

This season is just off the scale, dreadful players who a lot of the time don’t even seem to be trying, strange team line ups that nobody can fathom out. Our leaky defence being the main reason where we are.

Agree with your post but it was 90/91 we stayed up with the Tony James goal sending WBA down. 91/92 we got Little in and that was the Blackburn play off final

I find it interesting that some keep saying that KPI won’t let the club go into admin and will continue to bankroll us. Given the current state of their business and the fact that they aren’t run by a member of the family any more - I’m not so sure that they’ll have the funds or desire to do that.

I'm struggling to see what he's achieved since joining Newport just under 4 months ago. Anyway, I wouldn't want him to tarnish his fine reputation by coming into this sh!tshow.

Last season I made the conscious decision not to renew my season ticket, the reason being I couldn't see this team getting promoted at the first time of asking, they are a very poor team.

It just so happens that this season I have been bringing a disabled supporter. Fortunately this has cost me nothing!

My instinct was proven correct, this team have consistently shown that they are incapable of putting up a fight to stay up.

If fear that relegation is inevitable, the financial cost the the club is horrendous, I really fear for the future.

I said we’d stay up back in January that season believe it or not

I bet on us to stay up on the great escape.

I bet on us weeks ago to go down at 4 to 1

Helps to soften the blow and should cover

part of next seasons League one season ticket.

Absolute shambles of a club

Downward spiral since cup win.

given he's got no resources and the club on the verge of collapse, hes now taken them out of the relagation zone so id say he's doing pretty well.
