It was one thing being constantly knocked back like a desperate ex by Graham Potter but Russell Martin lol good grief.

Wondering if maybe this is their old tactic of leaking something unpopular so we're less unhappy with whatever shit they do actually turn to.

Not overly enamoured if it is Martin, although really don’t think we would have got relegated if he had been appointed last season.  The bigger concern for me if he is appointed, McCarron has zero influence in his role and clearly the big decisions will still sit with Aiyawatt and Rudkin and despite 3 relegations in 4 years we are continuing to double down on this style of play.

It wont be announced until July 1st because of our financial year restarting again in my opinion. Our old achiles heel.

Our trusty club coaches King and Hughes to do 1st week back again. (I hope I'm Fuching wrong as to quote fools and horses "that's like letting McDonald's look after your cow.")

I think we should seriously consider Ronald McDonald, Frank Spencer & the chuckle brothers in a joint 4 management venture !

I know you think you’ve hit rock bottom with this club but I’ve got some terrible news to tell you about the Chuckle Brothers. Barry died 8 years ago. Knowing Rudkin’s business acumen, that doesn’t necessarily rule Barry out of a place on your revolutionary management quartet.

It’s still only Nixon linking us with Martin—and while it’s only Nixon, there’s hope. In my case I’m ardently hoping that this story has been put out by Martin’s agent in an attempt to get Blackburn (or whoever) to cough up more for his client’s services. We’ve seen it before…

Martins style of play will be an absolute disaster in league one. We won’t be able to afford defenders technical enough to play out as well as strong enough to defend properly, or have good enough pivots in midfield, so all teams will need to do is press high up and then bombard us with long throws and other set pieces. They’ll fold like a deck of cards.

Same with any league we’re in. Many clubs are moving away from it. But like you’ve said, it will be even harder in a more much physical league.

Don’t expect our strategy to change unless Rudkin or Top are gone.

A strategy you say? That’d be a start.

Yes it's really weird. Has he watched any of our title winning games, with low possession and fast transition and counter attack?

Exactly but it’s not even so much that. That style of football pretty much all fans hate, it’s starting to be phased out now as well. It would just start everything off negative. I’d rather Rowett.

From The Fosse Way

New coach, same style?

Alarmingly, among the favourites to be the next Leicester manager is Russell Martin, one of these modern coaches who come with a very modern philosophy.

His style first caught the eye when, in 2021, his Milton Keynes Dons team strung together a record 56 passes before scoring against Gillingham.

What is rarely mentioned is that MK Dons lost the game 3-2 and finished 13th in League One that season.
lAnd since then his teams have largely been famous for the huge number of goals they concede.

Which chimes with Gary Rowett’s recent comment that his Leicester side seemed more interested in scoring the “perfect goal” than in securing three points.

So will a second successive relegation finally shake the club out of its style delusion?

A few weeks before the end of the season, Jordan Blackwell published a piece on Leicestershire Live indicating that the club would not retain Rowett even if he kept us in the Championship.

The thrust of the piece was that our new Sporting Director, James McCarron, after five years in the Manchester City set-up would want to appoint a manager who favoured possession football.

Blackwell isn’t prone to idle speculation and the piece, while undiplomatically timed, carried the ring of truth.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion are preparing for another season in the Championship after looking odds-on for relegation under two managers with a philosophy. Their third, a club insider with no managerial experience, switched the formation to 4-4-2.

His team racked up 18 points in 11 games and secured survival. And there’s not a Baggie in the land who cares about his possession stats.

Manchester City no longer seem invincible and as Big Strong Leicester Boys podcaster Jordan Halford observed recently: “Even Man City don’t play like Man City these days.”

And for us? We prepare to drive our Formula One car on another shopping trip. But not to Morrisons. We’re off to Lidl.

Rock bottom ? Oh no we’re no where near that yet, we have plenty more potential in that regard !

Regarding Barry which I knew of !
Maybe Timmy mallet or Frank Sidebottom could be a worthwhile addition

rudkin doesn’t. He’s told ayawatt that he’s giving him until the end of June to get back in touch with him then it’s all out for Potter…………………or martin.

He’s also had an application from some chap called Challinor but binned it as he sounds foreign.

If only he told Aiyawatt that he's giving him until the end of June to get back in touch with him then it's over.

Lucrative offer mentioned in the mercury article.  Nice to see us still throwing the money around.

It’s like a horrific Groundhog Day script. These hubris filled morons continue to drive us towards liquidation.

The away end at Bournemouth 2025 saved us from Russell Martin last time around but we don't get the chance this time. It's just inevitable get it over with.

I’ve been saying this for ages. We just need to get Russell Martin over and done with. Its the last step before we can actually begin recovery as a club.
