I was such an arrogant little shit when we were in the Prem, didn’t waste my time looking at the lower leagues and it’s really coming back to bite me on the arse. Having to google more or less every suggestion in the thread, accusing posters of being football hipsters and it turns out they’re just being realistic.

I just cannot fathom why anyone at the club thinks Russell Martin is a good idea. Fans don’t want this shite style of football any longer.

Because the board dont read the room. 5000/1 event tells you that.

I think a lot of us had this problem. We turned our noses up at managers who, now, wouldn’t even consider us.

Pep Lijnders? Probably the best assistant manager currently in world football who has worked for Liverpool and Man City. The **** are you smoking?

Literally made very clear in the comment I made that I wasn’t fully able to place him and he rang a bell you weird guy, very contextually obvious that I wasn’t saying he was at seagrave talking details with Top and Rudkin over prawn sandwiches and polo highlights

Correct regarding Southampton but Sunderland wasn’t his only other role in Football, he was a sports scientist at Seattle Sounders but also worked at the Premier League as their elite performance manager essentially working with all 20 EPL Clubs during that period, focusing on each Clubs homegrown development plans and also helping aid Academy projects.

I believe he was hired by Richard Scudamore to do the role as well which is quite impressive to say the least

I do find your enthusiasm for McCarron and your knowledge of his career very interesting. Especially for someone who’s posting history matches the point of his appointment. Whilst also leaving hints about the inner workings of the club. Very interesting indeed. The defence of Musaka too

Is there anything else at the Club to be enthusiastic about??

Tops still the owner, Rudkins still here in a higher position, I’m disgruntled mate, I’m pissed off, which is probably why I’ve taken more time to look into McCarron’s background than possibly most, he’s literally the only thing to be enthusiastic about, I want to know who this guy is and what he’s about and look past the Top and Rudkin talk, what else is there too talk about regarding them??? It’s been done to the death

An yeh I know someone at Seagrave but not to the point where I get to mingle into the inner workings of what’s going on lol I’m not there myself, I just get to hear things from time to time.

He could well be one of McCarron's radar.  Pep's Assistant Manager (Kolo Toure was just a Coach) last season, Manager at Red Bull Salzburg (with a 45% win rate), Rodgers' and Klopp's Coach at Liverpool for 9 years and Manager at NEC Nijmegen (with a 50% win rate, just missing out on promotion to the Eredivisie).

Sounds like Lijnders wants to move back to Holland.

It’s rare top assistants walk straight into top management jobs…. I wouldn’t say it’s as wild a statement as you’re making out especially when you factor in he’s a) out of work (granted it’s been about 2 days) and b) he’s been in and around our new sporting director or whatever his title is

I want us to go all out for Challinor but if that doesn’t happen we should at the very least consider Paddy McCarthy.
Has worked with both U21 and U18 at Palace.
Been assistant at Palace for a few years under Glasner and Hodgson so you’d hope he’s learnt from both.

I see Nuno is staying on at West Ham ....Damn! I had him nailed on for us ! ........🤔🤔

I was thinking Scott Parker would be going there, wonder if he would come here, probably no chance.

Given Lijnders has been sacked within about 6 months of his 2 managerial jobs, he should probably stick to being coach/assistant for now. Probably another that's a good coach but lacks the actual traits that make someone a good manager.

I saw a very tenuous tumour that is so random there could actually be something in it. Kevin muscat.

He’s had a very tidy career as manager in Japan and china and was also in Belgium for a while…. Makes you wonder if our club would be aware of him and his achievements.

after a bit of reading on him,  I wouldn’t be against it at all, sounds like an attacking manager who knows how to win a division

Well, its a possibility, he has been trying to get back to the UK for a while now, but with most of his Managerial experience being in Aus and the Far East, (and his short stint in Europe with St Truiden, was a bit of a disaster), nobody has been willing to take a risk.  Rangers came close last year, but didn't bite the bullet.  His record with Melbourne, Yokohama and Shanghai is very good (but then it is Australian, Japanese & Chinese Leagues!) and he might be worth a punt in League 1.  Obviously, Shanghai might well want some decent dosh for him, depending on his contract length and amount.  One connection with City, is his Goalkeeping Coach at Shanghai, is Ian Walker.

Yes, but he's just been 'bashing opposition sides', I can't remember him doing any damage to us!

Haha tbf, he’s apparently a very calm, elegant manager compared to his days as a psycho player
