I think it’s fair to say that had Blackburn actually needed anything from today’s game, they’d of just taken it like every other team has this season.

Why? I only saw the last 20 minutes and it looked to me like they wanted to win it , their fans were singing in the sunshine and happy they were staying up.
It’s just speculation and ifs and buts. If we had needed a win and they did too, we could speculate GR would have risked JJ from the start, and gone for his favoured “experience “. Our last few games when we had enough chances to win each one, might have given us confidence to give it a good go today.

Anyway, such a depressing season.

I'm not sure what's more damning anyway- getting relegated because of a points deduction resulting from gross financial mismanagement, or getting relegated because we were one of the three worst teams in the second division 5 years after finishing 5th in the top flight and winning the FA Cup as a result of abysmal recruitment?

Doesn't make a blind bit of difference.

Whilst the numbers don’t tell the whole story for me the reality is that had the suits not kicked the can down the road then the shadow that was hanging over the club wouldn’t have ben there in season 25/26.

We can talk for hours about the desire or should I say the lack of it from the players . We will scratch our heads as to how  the wages being paid didn’t get close to delivering value for money but for me the moment that the club didn’t take on the chin accepting the fact that those excesses would inevitably lead to a sanction at some point for me wasn’t just naive it was arrogant.

No one is more angry than me about what has happened but, with respect, you are confusing the boardroom with the onfield player performance.

Not really ... the two are connected... decisions made in the boardroom impact the team as the points deduction proves .... but it does alter the fact that there have been ample games to correct the deduction and more .... you seem to put our final position on the deduction.... fact is if you had been watching them week in week out you would realise we are a poor side that lacks any passion, fight, guts or desire to win games

Meaningless win. Deserved to be relegated, we were hugely flattered by the points we managed and the statistics bare out how awful we have been.

I'm a season ticket holder, or was. Agree about the team performance. However, the stats don't lie...

Why you persisting with this shite. Do you really think Blackburn, West Brom and Charlton wouldnt of upped their games today if they needed points? Their players would have already be on the beach mentally today. They already proved they had the bottle when it actually mattered to them. Not like Leicesters team of fannies

So we'd have stayed up but for the points deduction.

Edit: Bad as we've been, it will be a bit frustrating when PSR is scrapped, which it will be.

...and so ends our worst ever season - with,  fittingly a meaningless win!

Don't know. No one does.

Given their form in recent weeks, I would expect they'd have done enough.

All got results and dragged themselves away while the pressure was on. Leicester flapped at every hurdle. My moneys on them getting results.

Maybe :dunno:

I cannot believe anyone is still coming out with this "EFL relegated us" or "PL punishing us for 2016" shite.

This squad were 30-40 points shy of what they were capable of and the boards terrible financial decisions over 4 years put us here. Nothing else. It's simply small club mentality to suggest otherwise

Remember Everton's reaction to their points deduction? God help the Premier League had that relegated them. Small club mentality? I would argue the opposite and point at the celebrated Leicester self-deprecation. It's part of our DNA.

One win in January

No wins in February

One win in March

No wins in April

One win in May.

Thats why we’re getting relegated.

100% in May baby:cool:

Exactly.

Both are ample representations of the state of this club, this is the result of mismanagement of the clubs finances and poor recruitment, buying players and giving them massive contracts with no incentives.

You end up getting a squad of players who aren’t fit for purpose, and finances on the edge of a cliff.

This is exactly what happens when all of that happens.

Threw away so many points in the last 8 games. Won 6 of the 8 on xG. The draws against Watford, Sheff Wed, Preston and Hull were particularly frustrating. In all of those games we were comfortably the better team but couldn't get over the line.
