We've seen a lot of world class strikers playing for the teams against us in the last 10 years. Rooney, Aguero, Cristiano Ronaldo, Cavani, Lukaku, Falcao, Van Persie, Osimhen, Kane.

Apart from Aguero and Kane who battered us regularly and Osimhen who was brilliant on the day, Vardy was usually was better on the pitch than the others on the occasion.

He was only here one season but everyone forget Alan Clarke 50% goal to game ratio that season and we made a profit on him. Everyone focuses on his Leeds Career

Kante? Is the obvious one. I’d argue Vardy and Mahrez were. Cambiasso had a world class brain and left foot. I’d say Fofana was too.

This is a world class exaggeration, parlayed from the many confident assertions at the time that he would go on to be world class.

I'm my lifetime Kante, Mahrez n Vardy whilst playing for Leicester.

There's an argument to be made that Kasper in his prime also helped Denmark go far at euro 2020.

Agreed

I don’t see how Vardy can’t be mentioned in and around the world class players back in the day

A golden boot- almost 2

Scoring record

PL title

His goal numbers against the ‘big 6’ was phenomenal

Did he win football writers POTS too?

Yeh he did, 8th in Ballon D'or too for those that value that.

Both him and certainly Mahrez world class at times during their careers.

If Vardy had been playing for a top 6 club, he would be lauded as one of the greatest English strikers of all time - he would have had many more England caps and goals too. People call Kane world class, Vardy has won more than him playing for a much smaller team, he's got the 11-in-a-row record... absolutely unbelievable striker. Mahrez and Kante definitely in the same bracket as well.

For me Worthington and Weller were both world class and both should have got more England caps than they did.  Weller on his day could breeze past players as if they weren't there, on mud bath of pitches then not like the snooker table pitches today.  Worthington, more skill than any centre forward today.  Use to get to the ground in those days early just to watch him warm up.  A joy to be hold.  A magicians left foot.

They should’ve found a way to play Kane and Vardy together.

Said it at the time and it’s obvious even more so now everyone is seeing kanes passing at Bayern, him dropping deep taking defenders and then Vardy running on to those passes would have been amazing for England

Jonathan Northcroft wrote that we had four world class players in 2015-16: Schmeichel, Kante, Mahrez and Vardy, who ‘was world class at what he did’

Honestly, why the need for a little additional caveat for Vardy? It's such snobbery, as someone else said, it's because he didn't go on to a bigger club.

Broke goal scoring records in the PL, did it in the Champions League, did it at international level and won trophies at the same time.

I've got to disagree with Fofana. As good as he was (that one season), there were still too many moments where his lack of experience shone through. If he hadn't had his injuries, he might have got there but I don't think he's ever been world class.

Vardy was 100% world class as was Mahrez.

Really hate the Vardy revisionism that he was just a runner that could finish. Go through his goal compilation and the amount of finesse and technical ability is unreal.

Mahrez probably had the best first touch in football for a good 4 or 5 years

Obviously we are all glad he didn't but Vardy could have played for a bigger club than us and won more trophies, similar to Mahrez. I think if we were earlier in his career then he might have.

There was three consecutive seasons where Vardy scored 20, 18, 23. Him and Kane were both World Class as English strikers and should have played together for the National Team.

Mahrez still has the best first touch I've ever seen for Leicester and I doubt I'll ever see better. He could kill a ball dead like Zidane could.

Lineker was world class whilst at LCFC. Just wasn't recognised as such by the london/North West centric media.

Same with Shilton. Banks was best keeper in the world in '66, that's not arguable.

The three players I think I'd like to have seen play for us live.

In the title winning season, Vardy, Kante and Mahrez were all playing at a World class level. In their respective positions that season, not many players in the world were better than them!

The ones apart from Aguero and Kane were well past their best to be fair.

As much as we bang on about loyalty, we were really lucky he played for us at the time he did. Not a chance we'd have kept him at a younger age.

Pundits who say he should have gone to Arsenal are weird.I think he knew that any kind of poor run of form would have seen him benched and that would have been that for his career.

He absolutely made the right choice in being the big fish in the smaller pond. More pay, longer contract and chance to become the biggest legend in the clubs history. Which he did.

Vardy definitely is, because of what he has achieved in such a small period, and the “world class” defences he’s frankly made a mockery of.

Always scored against the big teams, and that’s the measure of a world class player for me.

Mahrez is the best player we’ve ever had, technically there’s not many better. Best first touch in football history, period, one of those players whose natural ability to shift his body weight effortlessly, and have the touch of a god.

Kante goes without saying, just the best in the world ever at what he did.

Then of course, there’s Joe Aribo…..
