are these lot gonna get the Korea 2002 treatment the entire tournament then you reckon?

In light of the chants in midweek, it's time to reconsult the chart

Getting a bit concerned here, they actually look like a very good team :/

We'll see what happens when they play a team that's actually any good.

But it does look like it will take a team like that to put them out.

Guy with the header didn't seem offside to me.

EDIT: And the goal has been given. 2-0 to the Soccerboys.

Because two players went for it, easy mistake to make in real-time, but correct result.

Australia very poor though.

Am I going mad? I thought he was clearly onside and I'm a certified yank hater

The bloke who nods it in is being played on, only question you could maybe argue is whether or not Balogun (who was off) is interfering with play by being so close to the keeper

Australia have been dead crap

The US hate is rather strong in this thread, a lot of "expecting to fail". Don't know why. Must be TDS.

They clearly are the better team and the ref's decision was correct.

I think that's the thing for me, you can argue he's off to the side enough but I think he goes for it too and so obstructs. mostly just want to moan about the yanks having anything go their way though

For all the possession, the huffing and puffing, and the 2 scrappy goals, we didn’t quite create a whole lot of chances. That play leading to a shot by Dest deep in stoppage time was probably the best clear chance we created from open play.

I would have to think Australia puts Irankunda out there to add some electricity up front, they can get back into this game even by playing for set pieces.

I'm not arsed about the Americans winning. I've got numerous friends on both coasts and one of my best mates is from KC.

But there's a few players in front of the keeper, in his line of sight, going for the ball. Crazy it's been given.

Can see an argument for the offside goal being given either way, it comes down to whether the two players who were off were interfering with play as the third guy scored, and that's subjective.

But, in any case, the US are good value for their lead, they've made all the running. As per above, it will remain to be seen what will happen when they play a team that actually has talent and knows what they're doing (possibly QF onwards).
