Not saying he’s wrong on some of the points but there he is, talking over people again and not listening to what’s being said. Arrogant twat.

Incredible, he cares more about the stats than wins and him saying that we’re shit just pisses me off, we are shit but he’s part of the problem. Playing this type of football won’t get you anywhere in league 1, his head is so far up his arse and sucking up to the owners. Get him out today

Anthony's toes curling when he sees this.

He’ll feel it’s an interaction that should have taken place within the confines of the Fan Engagement Framework :P

How would it be minuted?!

Just doesn't get it does he.  He might be right about some things, but man, just shut up, listen to the question and respond.  If that's how he is around the club then no wonder it's as bad as we expected.

We've all worked places where what we do or sell is shit.... would we get fired if we said that in an interview... yes, yes we would.

It doesn't matter who knows it already, you don't say it.

Football is a business where it’s clear for all to see how a team is performing. 3 relegations in 4 seasons is in the public forum and it’s absolutely clear to everyone that the club is currently shit. That’s a big difference from working for a business where you are divulging that a product or service is shit to a client/the public. It’s not a sackable offence in football to point out an honest straight fact. Leicester have been shit since Enzo. That an absolute clear as day 100% fact that everyone in an out of football can see.

He just doesn't help himself I don't think. Can't help but biting, need to just say, we are still a work in progress and we are wotking hard to get results.

I don't like the personal abuse, for me thats not on, but criticism of his football  and result is more that justified.

Marti wasn't very good, but more likeable, but the football and results aren't that different.

This.

Any man with an ounce of humility and self-reflection would recognise his style of football isn’t super popular and his appointment was met with huge scepticism. Also that things went sour at his last club very quickly with the fan base. He would then seek to engage humbly and openly at every opportunity.

Instead, he seems to think that doubling down on his conviction and self-confidence will suddenly bring everyone along with him. And at any hint of criticism he’s going on the offensive or being belligerent.

He’s not going to win hearts and minds and, ultimately, that will be his downfall.

The “you’ve been shit since then” comment wouldn’t rile me as much if two things were true:

1) Maresca was getting widespread criticism whilst we were walking the league. Most of it came when ‘the plan’ was rumbled by teams and second time round against them we were really struggling and limped over the line when (public knowledge) the players pulled rank a bit

2) We’d been veering away from possession-based types in the managerial appointments since Maresca. We’ve always been looking for the mini Pep for years now since Rodgers and been crap with the exception of two-thirds of one season under Maresca with a squad far superior for the level (and financial doping as well not to mention). So if we’d been dropping through the leagues with Pulis and Allardyce types I could get it. But we haven’t: we’ve been crap with managers exactly like you Russell! You’re just the best version of a flawed and failing strategy!

If only the interviewer, in answer to “what do you want” simply replied that we ‘want’ is to win games of football. Games of football against Stevenage, Barnsley, Burton and Oxford.

That's exactly it!

We want to win football matches not rack up possession stats or gloat over insipid shot numbers...

The only stat that matters is goals scored > goals conceded...

However shit to quote Martin we've been in recent years  the fact is even then we weren't spanked at home by Burton or Oxford or were failngi to beat a 10 man Barnsley.

These results are our worst ever - that is a fact!

He sounds like he's not enjoying it from that video. It's a relationship thsr no-one is getting anything positive from. It's like it's a surprise to him that Leicester fans don't love ineffective football.

"135 shots in five games of football" ... We've had 108 shots over 7 league games (ranked 6th); we've got the joint lowest xG of 0.09 per shot (22nd) and we're converting just 8,33% of shots (18th). It's not like we're massively underperforming in the finishing department either. Anyone can shoot from the corner flag and have it count as a shot, that doesn't make it effective.

He's making stuff up to cover his failings.

He even says "We'll win and when we win it'll be fine" - Firstly, we're not winning, so it's not fine. We keep losing or drawing the same predictable way. Enzo had us playing efficient football from the get-go - and like the fan said, he didn't like that style either despite the success.

The "you've been sheet since then" just shows he knows and feels he's on borrowed time. If he'd said "We've..." then at least he would've shown some ownership of the situation, but he truly believes that he's not responsible for our performances this season, which should be a massive red flag to everyone and send alarm bells ringing loudly with Rudkin et al.

Tbf Martin has been shit for longer than we have.

Is it okay to think he’s absolutely bang on with what he says, that the fan is being ridiculous and that Martin is still the wrong guy?

cause that’s where I am

I thought that same thing as an outsider lol

Respect to Martin for standing and having a conversation with him in the first place. Also, think he’s right with some of the points he makes, but his unequivocal determination to play this brand of football makes him wrong.

I do think he’ll end up doing enough to get you to the playoffs, the relative quality is just so much higher than anyone else in the league and there will be enough times where that is sufficient on its own (Stockport). However, that in itself would be a failure as you should win this league comfortably.

My head isn’t up anyone’s arse, just trying to say that this isn’t RM’s fault when it started years ago with mismanagement.

The thread is about RM not upper management and owners correct? Now, if it was about the owners then yes I would agree they need to be held accountable and that isn’t something that we’ve seen or heard. It’s shocking what’s happened to us over the past 5 years and something that shouldn’t have happened.

You're right.  Martin is only accountable for having us mid table in the third division, our lowest ever ebb, with the best and most expensive squad in the division whilst serving up football that is dreary, yet suicidal, just as he has at his previous clubs.

Apart from that he has been very harshly treated.

Unpopular opinion but I’m having it anyway

that fan should be embarrassed- such a poor way to try and have a constructive conversation about the style of play and pros and cons and filming and posting it - oh dear - unfortunately probably represents quite a few

I don’t blame martins response at all - some random bloke being about as articulate as a kitkat moaning about his style of play - I say again - embarrassing

it was basically a full reserve 11 with loads of the kids everyone wants playing and they played pretty well for large parts  - we can debate all day about the quality of final ball and the quality or lack of in the final act of the play at goal but they didn’t play terribly - the reaction is way over the top but I guess expected as it’s just another thing to jump on

I get it - there is no patience for anything apart from wins - I understand it and it’s the biggest catch 22 issue we have - there is no Time for him to get it right - not in many supporters eyes anyway - I feel that to a certain extent but we should all remember that 16 utter scum bags have been removed and 15 new lads in the club in one summer and he is coaching them

a new way to play - It was never going to be linear - he knows there is no Patience and I honestly believe he is trying his best

im still giving him the benefit of the doubt and a Ressies game where we played ok for the most part but didn’t win won’t change that - I’m not defending everything about him and we need to see more positive results than negative over the next few months but the reaction to last night is way over the top

the question remains on if that style of football

With the players we have at the level we are at can be successful- can it create more real clear cut opportunities in front of goal or is it just pretty for pretty Sake - the next 2 months up until Xmas will show us one way or the other -but I for one hope he is successful and in turn we are successful - I think the players are having him and I like his interviews in the most part - now it’s all about results - let’s hope for all our sakes we start to get them starting Saturday

Martin didn't need to engage with the fan and did. He didn't belittle him, he just said they would disagree and gave him his perspective based on the stats he sees. Sounds like RM just can't win in the eyes of some of the fans. If he doesn't say anything he's hiding, if he dodges questions he's got no spine, if he supports his opinion he's arrogant. Personally I like a manager that can back themselves when the critics are being loud.

You said it lol

What a silly comment.

One is an unrealistic expectation. Another is a very reasonable thought that a club with the biggest budget in the division should win some football games at the lowest level they’ve played

Debate properly or don’t bother

O'RLY

its football, anything can happen in football, we won the premier league when we shouldnt  have ; we didnt have the biggest budget that season...

"Should" "should"

if you think just turning up gives you a god give right to win then youre in the wrong game

no one has a right to win.

and also lighten the **** up my god, it was the EFL trophy(its not the priority),

the way some are moaning after last night youd think the club was 2min from going out of business

nah come on, some people are moaning just for the hell of it, like the stockport game having a go at martin even when we are winning,

i get moaning but some of it is moaning for moanings sake

on your other points, sure i suppose, i dont think its just on him imo its the players at times too....a 2 way street so to speak

but as i've said previous no matter who we get theyd moan, could be pep and some fans would still moan.

i guess some people just like being completely negative no matter what(in general i mean)

You have to take the moaning in context, ie the continuing free fall of this club.  Moaning is very much justified.  I'd say it's almost a duty.  There is zero accountability at the club so it is incumbent upon the fans.

You mention Stockport.  Yes, there was more muted moaning, but this was a game where we seemed as though we won despite our best efforts to throw it away.

In another post you mention individual 'brain farts' for the Stockport comeback.  Don't you realise that these are unforced errors caused by Martin's style of play.  In other words, pissing about with the ball at the back.  In the context of the previous games under Martin's tenure, Stockport was another example of the worrying direction he is taking us in.  Highly moanworthy

It genuinely baffles me that we can have 5 years of chronic mismanagement which continues to this day and you can be mystified that fans should moan about it.

Interesting that he said 'You've been shit since then", and not "we've been shit since then".

An egotistical Jobby isn’t going to take account for any other managers failings… he can’t even take account for his own lol

I think a big take away is “you’ve been shit since then”

not “we’ve” it might seem small, but psychologically he’s distancing himself from a project. If you start a new job and buy into the project, you instantly say we. It might seem pedantic but I actually think it’s telling to how he sees this and where it’s going.

That engagement was a chance to honestly give fair criticism and it was a nonsense, a simple call back to the 135 shots, is that the chances we let the opposition have are always fair easier.  That’s the problem with Martin he cares about the shots we have not how bloody easy he is to score against.

well done for the shots counter but clubs get an easy 2/3 goals a game… its not good enough.  You can build a beautiful house but if the plumbing and electrics are shit, you’re not going to sit in it happy. And the first thing people will tell you when they come over is that there’s an unflushed rolly Polly

For me… after that as well as the very poor start he’s made here on top of the majority of the fans feelings, his position is now untenable.

Get rid of him, now.

It hasn’t worked, it isn’t working and it isn’t gonna work.
