At least he won't swear at the fans on his way to the team coach...because he'll be sneaking out the back door like he did at Rangers.

He won't need to sneak out here. Easy ride for him compared to the fanbase at Rangers.

That's true, I'm sure its a very easy gig in comparison.

Not even if he does that.

Bar Rodger's I detest this cretin more than anyone currently in football.

The bloke is a parasite, stealing a wage masquerading as a manager.  The BS that dribbles out of that fuzz covered hole under his nose at times is non sensical and others just so the clown can hear the sound of his own voice.

His manageral record is shocking,  and the coma inducing brand of football he is wedded too makes my pi$$ boil.

He's basically just Marti Cifuentes, but british, even more wedded to philosophy and managed for 84 fewer games.

In fairness better the Cifuentes who has never been promoted or in the Premier League and never will be, admittedly a low bar.

Steve Cooper had a better record at Swansea before Martin took over too.

Russell Martin has been stealing a living for years, just because he uses "modern football" buzzwords and "plays the right way" (piddles around at the back).

MK Dons - did nothing, midtable finish.

Swansea - did nothing, midtable finish.

Southampton Year One - came 4th in a three horse race but won the playoffs, which is used as the great justification for his supposed talent.

Southampton Year Two - on course to be the worst Premier League team in history before being fired.

Rangers - had the Ibrox fans basically building a guillotine for him and gnashing their teeth.

There literally has to be a manual somewhere on how to make a fortune by bleeding gullible owners dry:

1. Say the word "bravery" a lot.

2. Use phrases like "the group", "synergy", and "colaberation".

3. When you lose games, passive aggressively blame the players so that the owners know it was the players not taking your amazing instructions on board.

4. When confronted with your diabolical record, put on a show of principles by saying "I believe in playing the right way, and will stand by that."

As a fan of a club (Wycombe) who fell for another example of this manager (Mike Dodds) you have my commiserations in advance.

I dislike him as a man, I dislike his tactics as a spectacle…but as a coach for league 1 he is talented.  He gets players on side and even gives youth a chance, he was monumental with dibling and made him look better than he is.

It’s incredibly unlikely but if he’s learn from his last 2 jobs and has the humility to adapt, he could end up surprising everyone

I get what you’re saying but at
Mk dons in league one he finished 19th and 13th.
At Swansea in the championship he finished 15th and 10th.
Am I missing something?
Apart from getting Southampton up he’s done fvck all.
He had the opportunity at Rangers to change his style of play but didn’t.
Teams vastly improve once he’s left.
I’m baffled we’re not at least talking to Challinor.

The most frustrating part of this potential appointment, is that as a fanbase, for multiple years now it's been King Power vs The fans, they don't give a single shit about what the fans want to see, they put themselves above all.
The manager in some circumstances can often form a shield between the circus upstairs and the fans/players on the pitch, take for example Rohl at Wednesday, the club was being run into the ground, but Rohl and the fans formed a partnership, almost a bubble around themselves.
We are likely going to need to do that with Russell Martin, the salient fact is this, we NEED promotion, this isn't a 2 season rebuild to get us out of league one, every season we spend in this league is a step towards even more of a financial catastrophe.

Russell Martin simply HAS to get us promoted at the first time of asking, no ifs, no buts, he HAS to. And we as a fanbase are going to have to get right behind this snore-fest to secure our immediate future, all we can do is hope and pray that Martin has the balls to stand up against the board.

Results wise I think he will do fine. Just wish it was anyone else. Now it feels like the only hope we have is that he's woken up from his last couple of experiences and changes his style. You can have exciting possession based football, just look at Leverkusen 23/24, Cardiff last season or Bologna 23/24, Russell needs to find that balance quick or the majority who gave him the benefit of the doubt will turn whether we are winning or not.

Let's be honest Top and Rudkin are so gullible they will believe any bullsh1t he tells them ..... look at the players purchased over the past 5 years .... more of a donkey sanctuary than a football club ... just be ..... Russell the leader of the donkey squad

Yeah I get that but a few things to consider and to preface this:  I don’t think he’s the best option, I think the club is being lazy as per … but just trying to balance the views as I think with the opinions of ‘he’s the worst choice imaginable’ or ‘he’s a great pick’ … the reality is he’s somewhere in between.

mk dons was essentially his first job. He was learning and in that role he did have them playing nicely. Sometimes the squad available can’t achieve things and with mk dons he was building something positive even if the results didn’t get there in an instant. Same could be said with Swansea… they were pushing towards playoffs didn’t miss out by a great deal. Not amazing work but I don’t think a position in a table always tells a full story. Lots of posters on here used to make similar points about lampard and taking derby from 6th to 6th etc… but sometimes football is like that.  He didn’t underachieve with Swansea or mk dons as if either club went up that would have been a surprise, so all it proves is that he isn’t a miracle worker and he’s not likely to get an average group suddenly promoted, not with the way he plays. But if he has a top 6 squad he will likely finish in the top 6 …. Which simply put isn’t a disaster appointment given the talent we have coming through our youth ranks and hopefully a recruitment drive that should be way beyond most league 1 teams reach.

if the club mess up recruitment… we will fail big time but if we get it right… I think he will do well. I think we get caught up by the fact Enzo was too good for him …. But Enzo is the man city manager… of course he should be miles ahead of a league 1 manager. It’s the reality of where we are

I could have some sympathy for him had he gone Rangers and tried a completely different approach.
But he didn’t.
I just don’t see him changing his way of playing.
I pray he ends up at Burnley or somewhere other than here.
