Every single one of our defenders have an error in them, they’ll fit right in.

Winks is great at pointing at other people when he’s cocked up, so he’s a given.

Turns out we only really need to rebuild our attack.

all of our defence and keepers are fxxking awful, not sure any will even do well in league one

He loves anyone who doesnt give the ball away.

People mention Winks in here. I know he is on a good contract but he must be a muppet if he stays at a club where he had a pop at the fans, where we have been hammering him and he is playing in Englands 3rd tier. Surely he can get a Championship club.  Its so funny to think that a year and a half ago he was still being spoken about for England!!

Carragher's right, we'll be fine!

I’m going to get pelters here but Smallbone has always looked a player when I’ve seen him?

We’ve become Southamptons feeder club 🤣

I'm praying Russell has seen the light and changed his unwaivering attitude to play high risk football without a proper structure. He is nothing like Maresca. Maresca brought control and a risk/reward balance. Russell brings all the risk.

More frustrating is the kind of players he will want are the ones we want to see the back of. Also Vestergaard has proven he can't play the high line Russell will want. And Winks... Surely, we can't afford him and he has to go.

Aside from the obvious keep ball shit, one of the biggest concerns is that he doesn't get his teams fit according to literally every fan of every club he's managed.

Braybrooke Smallbone and Page wouldn’t be a bad midfield 3.

Far too easy to play through because of a lack of defensive ability/physicality.

So no change there then

Exactly.  We've been so far behind everyone else for a few years now.  When it's evident we're shit at the pass it to death stuff we won't even have stamina, physicality and fitness to fall back on.

Martin's selection tells me that we will be a primarily youth driven team. Look for us to go get some premier league loans for younger players, to integrate players like Alves, Braybrooke and Page into the squad this season. We will need one if not two new CB's that are quicker, and much better on the ball (one if Nelson stays, two if he is sold). We will need a left back or right back to play the inverted midfield role as well. Winks will most likely stay unless we can sell him and get a better profile of player (not judging character here) to play that same role. And striker. We need 1-2 strikers. Any ideas who could fit those roles?

Nope, but it's no point asking our incompetent clowns in scouting and player recruitment as their track record proves they are just as clueless..

There are loads of gaps in the squad that I think a discussion like this is almost pointless. There are very few players currently here that will flourish in a possession for possessions sake side.

I know a lot on here thought that we were this sort of team under Enzo but we weren't. Enzo was all about dominating space and territory whereas Martin is just about keeping the ball and hoping something happens at the end of it.

The paradox we have is that he does generally buy quite well and brings in good quality young players. It's one of his biggest strengths. However, he won't get the opportunity to do that here because we simply are not capable of working on more than one deal at a time.

Rudkin is simply not capable of going out and bringing in two or three targets in a week.Any time we've brought in multiple players in the same week it's because we've been approached by agents.

So we're signing a below average manager who plays a system we are not capable of playing with this current squad and we're tying one hand behind his back by not letting him rebuild the squad with the 10-15 new players we'd need to get out of League 1.

I''m more annoyed at the concept of Martin, because it's showing more proof that nothing changes here until Aiyawatt and Rudkin go.

I don’t imagine we will find many league one standard players who can successfully play the style he likes.  Incoming transfers from the Spanish and Portuguese second division, I’d imagine…

I completely agree - I'd expect us to look at loans for younger academy products from premier league teams.

if Arsenal sign Monga, we’ll probably get a couple of loans from them as part of the deal..
