We should be positive about Leicester   we're only 1 of 7 clubs who have won the PL, FA Cup, League cup and the community shield. We're a fallen giant of the English game😂

DI Martin here. I am launching Operation Clean Sweep to eradicate the Seagrave filth. I am putting an end to Rowatt's low-block beuraucracy of long balls and lazy work rates, replacing it with a high-intensity high energy dominant style. If you cannot meet my standards, I am fully prepared to trim the deadweight in the upcoming transfer window.

Does he have history of promoting youth and a decent track record with young players?
I’m sure I read somewhere that he did.
That’s what we need to do next season.
Exactly what we should have done last season.

Thats what I'm hoping happens, we get younger player from academy and elsewhere. With Energy.

I am with everyone that it wouldn't be my choice, but I just want a change in trajectory. as people have said a lot of this thread is aimed at the club rather than Martin, he is a symptom.

It probably won't work out, but it might. Him taking the job makes me thing we will "build" to some extent else he wouldn't have taken it.

Not a russel martin fan, and would rather someone else be in charge but it is what it is.

I do like his first interview notes however. Whether its something he has been filled in on by those above or something he has noted himself by watching us

he's stated the last couple of seasons is done and gone. And we need a fresh energy, and the very first thing he will be asking for, is total commitment from the players and for them to work harder than anyone else in the league.

Of course easier said than done, and I dont match russell teams with energy, but this is something we have been yearning for for the last 2 years right? A team that will show up and fight in every game.

See what happens innit.

Think this reflects both how far we've fallen as a club, but also how his reputation has taken a hammering too. Only way this is seen as a positive is if we finish first, and there are so many ways is blows up on our face.

Would be keen to compare Pearson's first comments in the summer of 2008 to Martin's last night. It helps nobody being negative from the off but so does being completely ignorant to where we are as a club and what is required to truly effect a change and rebuild.

Fans rounding up the discontent as unhelpful and unfair need to see the bigger picture, this has been caused by the ownership and board. They have further caused undue pressure and disconnect, if you expect fans to keep accepting this and backing them then we've got absolutely no hope of recovering from this. How else will change ever be found, relying on this lot to strike gold again? Their luck has ran out. Fans are angry and have every right to be.

I think the best thing for those that are is to stay away now, then at least those that want to give yet another chance can do so without any excuses if it fails again.

Minimum requirement from Martin is promotion and in a fashion thats not horribly short sighted. Will there be any outside impact in regards to our financial issues, I still struggle to see how we operate without major owner investment and let's hope last season is our one and only points deduction we face as a club.

I was wondering what our reaction was to Pearson being appointed too.

I think he's alluding to a cultural reset. I remain skeptical due to our ownership and him but I rate his first few words

Not the appointment we all wanted but we have to get behind him, so much pressure to get recruitment right this season and not to be negative I just don't trust them to make the right signings, hope to be proved wrong though.

Looking back at Martin's previous stints as a manager and doesn't have much of a track record with wingers which saddens me. So once Monga and Fatawu go, I suspect there won't be much by way of replacements and will be more versatile forwards which hopefully suits Jake Evans and Will Alves.

End up with football pretty much like Spain yesterday then

He ended up with the nickname NFP (Nigel F***ing Pearson) due to the initial reaction on here. lol

Ahh yeah I forgot about that. :)

I guess Nige was less tainted by other jobs.

Not sure anyone is getting high energy football out of this squad of pensioners and journeymen tbf

So play the kids then.

Aluko could be an athletic machine, if given the licence to.

Wishing RM good luck. I think he's a marmite manager. I'm not impressed so far tbh

Marmite implies some fans like him.

Dare you to find a fan that thinks he’s any good.

Not sure what disappoints me most, Martin getting the job, or people on here believing that Rudkin actually provided a quote.

Im gonna toss in anyone daft enough to think a Russell Martin team will be high energy.

I think any of us could have come up with the Rudkin quote though. Definitely just a generic quote put in by the comms team haha.

Everytime he showed a bit of intensity Winks would come along and motion to slow down. We are allergic to any intensity.

Not sure about the experience of the new assistant manager!

Who are the other 2. The young lad looks like a work experience student

I'll support him, because what other choice do we have? I probably have a case of stockholm syndrome tbf.

I will give him a chance, but I won't watch another interview of a manager talking about their vision for the club. They all talk a good game, very few actually follow it up by fulfilling those statements on the pitch with passion and results.

One thing I will say: FFS please get this team strong and fit. my daughter's under 9 team has more stamina than these jokers.

Edit: i had started watching his video and turned it off when the edit made him look at the subscribe button as it appeared on screen. Irritating.

Imagine telling Russell Martin in June 2025 as he took charge of the mighty Rangers in Scotland that just a year later he’d be manager in English division three. Football is a strange old beast.
