Our mental valuations continue then. I'm all for us being firm and trying to extract as much money out of sales as possible, but this seems totally unrealistic to me?

I imagine anyone interested in Nelson isn't going to lose interest after having a bid turned down, he's also got a year left so anyone interested now will likely want to get it done and not risk more clubs becoming interested when he's available for nothing

Hahaha **** off £10m, he goes for £4m/£5m max.

You have to start high I guess as if you say £5 they offer 3 etc...

This is the problem. We still think we are in the premier league. We've no business demanding that sort of money. If he wants to go, get it done, get the money in and rebuild.

It’s the right approach to drive high selling price as much as we absolutely can. The club has massive financial challenges and we also need to rebuild the squad. It’s going to be an exercise in brinkmanship and I’m sure we’ll see plenty of turbulence ahead of us.

I think he’s good enough. There’s been reported interest from those clubs. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went to one of those clubs this Summer but perhaps he has targeted first team football for a season or two first.

He could well be, but it seems, at present at least, that clubs further up the food chain don't agree.

Maybe it's the £10mill asking price putting them off.

Nothing wrong with saying we want £10mill.  The reality will be lower.

Or indeed if the only offers we get are total lowball jokes then we're probably better off risking him going for free in a year.  If he helped us get promoted then the 2or3 mill offers are derisory enough to ignore.  And you never know if we got back up at the first time of asking he might change his mind if Russell ball suits him.

He's no reason to spit his dummy out unless he's getting top drawer offers.

why is it unrealistic,
if thats what the club values him at...and if rumours are we was offered 1mil for him, for someone of his clear quality and potential then they are more than in their right to ask for 10mil

i know this isnt the best example but JP Van Hecke went from Brighton to Spurs for 54mil and he was coming into the last year of his deal like Nelson is.

just because player is coming into the last yr of a deal doent mean they have to be stupid in accepting a laughable bid

i thought a bid between 3/5mil with a sell on clause would be a decent one, but even then italian club wont pay that

Has been handled atrociously, should have been made a starter at the beginning of last season and look to extend his contract then but was left to rot in a stinking environment and then thrown in when the rot had well and truly set in. Not surprised he wants out but £10m with a year left is utter lunacy from the club, unless they know Enzo is going to come in with a sensible offer to save our skin.

On another note you have to question if there has been any innovative thinking, why not offer Nelson a 12 month or 2 year extension with a very reasonable release clause of say £10m + 20% sell on. I know his agent may be chirping in his ear but got to hope the academy players have some level of loyalty and respect for the club and would therefore be open to extending as long as not held to ransom as Mahrez felt he was when clubs came calling.

Cifuentes has a fair deal to answer for here. If he’d started last season as first pick in central defence given we actually started reasonably due to kind fixtures he could well have agreed another 2 years on top last september. But nope we had to watch Farce, Vesterlard and uh-ohli twat about all autumn.

Genuinely think that was a club led decision, either to drive up interest on what was deemed to be our star players who wanted to move on and then as soon as the window closed whoever we were stuck with had to be reintegrated, I think Marti was shafted to cover up the incompetence of Rudkin in being unable to shift out the deadwood.

Deja-vu approaching this window I reckon
